Quest-A-Thon: COMING SOON to a quest near you

Are you ready for a Quest-A-Thon? Y’all have asked for it over the past two years and it’s finally here. Well, almost.

Starting at 12:00am on Monday August 24 you will have until 11:59pm on Friday September 4 to complete 1,000,000 quests as a team!

Like always, the completing quests from the following quest givers will count towards the goal: Blue Building, Carl, Cinthia, Mori and Nori, Alexander, Maleria, Pete, Quentin, Saggitarius, Sarah, and The Wizard.

Don’t forget that regular users can complete 10 quests per quest giver and gold account users can complete 15 quests per quest giver a day. The only quest this does not apply to is Blue Building quests, which are 5 a day for everyone.

Now let’s discuss prizes! If the goal is met, participants will get the following prizes:

Sparkles forum title

A special new Avatar Border! What are avatar borders? They are a new feature that adds something special to your avatar headshot. Future borders will be given out in all sorts of ways, so keep an eye out! As far as the quest-a-thon goes, any participant will get the Blue Sun Sparkle border. If you place in the top 100 participants, you’ll get the Gold Sun Sparkle border as well! (We expect a lot of ties, so more than 100 people might end up getting the gold Sparkle border)

Yay! Pet slot! And can't wait to see the borders. But I agree with ! Don't include Sarah or officially remove the restrictions for the duration. So few can even do her quests its really not fair.

Consider: a "Quest-A-Thon Box" (like a Loyalty Box, account-bound until opened) sent out to users who compete, with options inside that users can choose from, like Pet Slot, CSC, CW Voucher, etc.. Plus the title and the avatar border. That way nobody is excluded and everyone feels the desire to participate.

I'm glad to know that it's OK to do a workaround for Sarah's quest, but at the same time it just kind of feels to me like with that one in particular, it would make sense to just temporarily remove the restriction? It's the only quest that people can only not do if they have too much sP from being on the site for a while (or being good at earning sP even if new), whereas the other quests w/ requirements are ones you actively work toward getting. It just seems like it'd be easy to justify by having Sarah agree to let anyone do her quests for the duration of the quest-a-thon, in the spirit of everyone working toward a goal together, newbies and older members alike?

Sarah's quests are generally difficult to have access to for most members that aren't very new or haven't just spent like all of their sP, and ... like, it's basically been said that people aren't going to be punished for using a workaround to do Sarah's quests, so it just... feels a little strange to me, that we're basically being allowed (almost encouraged, with the way this is set up with the rarest reward probably going to everyone who manages to complete every quest every day) to be sort of dishonest and make the site think we have less sP than we really do, rather than just having a temporary change to Sarah's quests? Idk, I'm sure staff sees it differently, but. Just feels weird to me orz;;

I'm pretty sure it's mostly because those aren't part of the same questing system as the other ones. Those two types of quests don't give out quest points and the NPCs don't have special shops associated with them for questing like the others do so it would take some coding changes to be able to include them I think.

Yay, Quest-a-Thon. I love these, because items sales from my shop go up since there's more demand for items AND if there's need for incentive, quests become weekend quests or start giving out retired items. It's awesome. :D I always do all the quests every day anyway, so that doesn't change for me. All it means is even more sP and items. ^^

You could always make a closed forum group and deposit your SP into the bank there long enough to do Sarah's quests. The bank doesn't count that money to be in your possession. Unless this is also frowned upon and I missed a memo about it?

Kind of sad that my suggestion about picking your own prize (from a small pool of options and no not getting rid of the pet slot option) hadn't been considered. I'm all for a pet slot because lots of users do want more pets but having the option to pick a prize for those who want something else... Ah well maybe next time?

NOTE: I excluded Sarah because most of us are too rich for her. I included Carl because I feel many more have access than not, same with Blue Building.

If everyone on site has a GA the quests are: (15 chances x 9 quests) + 5 blue building = 140 quests per day 1,000,000 / 140 = 7142 (and a whole mess of decimals so probably closer to 7200.) If everyone's a free user then the numbers of quests needed are: 10526 (and even more decimals so probably closer to 10600-11k.)

That seems daunting but, hang on: Each GA can contribute 1680 quests all 12 days and Blue Users can only contribute 1140, without quitting any quests/missing a single day.

1Mill divided by 1680 = 595 GA users. 1Mill divided by 1140 = 877 Blue users.

Including Sarah the numbers are:

Daily GA: 155 Daily BU: 105

x12 days: GA: 1860 BU: 1260

Users needed to beat this thing: GA: 537 (probably closer to 550-600) BU: 793 (Probably closer to 800-850)

I think anyone can figure out that our chances are much more dire if I remove Carl, Blue Building and Sarah so perhaps work on gaining access to 2/3? That said, I'm not a math wiz by any means so PLEASE correct me if I got anything wrong.

It’s kind of odd to me that Sarah’s quests are included in this, though. Unless someone either spends all of their sP just to be able to do her quests, or transfers all of their sP to a friend (which is frowned upon), it’s going to be impossible for a lot of users to max out each quest type every day. idk what the solution for that would be, though, since removing Sarah’s quests entirely from the pool would be unfair to newbies and users who don’t have much sP...

Still, I’m excited for another Quest-A-Thon! Good luck to everyone who’s participating!

With the last two great exoduses and without knowing how many are actually active on here, I'm wary of our chances to beat this thing.

As for the prize: it's not horrible but it's less than stellar for me. I'm not one of these people who needs ALL THE PETS and I just spent a loyalty box getting a slot about a week ago. :/ Really would've preferred CSC/vouchers over pet slots. The avatar decos are cute but not something I want dependent on winning contests, at least, not all the time.
