I was too late for this years event .. so I hope I can get a few candy hearts today that I can spend...and I am pretty sad that there is no way to get a zombie...I'd love to have a new biting thing so that I can get a curse from the first year ;;

I think this event was successful on my part. :) Have everything I want from L'amour Parlor shop and still have like 300 hearts to spend and I have full on about giving and taking kisses in Achievements! <3

The issue is that you are cursing in a public area, you can get warned and banned for that. Opinions are fine, but using words that are not ok for all users is what is bugging me and many others.

If I remember correctly, last year's masquerade was pretty much all just going into the forums to dance and clicking around? And I don't remember such a big deal being made that there wasn't a giant plot or event. .__. I think that the fact that there were no zombies/plot means there's probably going to be one for Masquerade, which I am excited about. Plus I love the new pets and a way to use candy hearts!

I just really don't understand why there's such big arguments about this? I understand it's your right as a consumer to have a voice in the market, as well as it's a right for those who don't agree with your opinion to disagree and so on, so forth, but I don't see why there needs to be so much controversy. .__.'

EITHER WAY In my opinion I really enjoyed it and I love the new items! c:

But I think the comments on issues and stuff bring up good points. Thou the rudeness from some is totally doing nothing to help.

I love how those who are trying to be 'mature' are disrespectful at the same time, look whose the child and look whose the adult now? Look I missed the idea of a new zombie strain but it was still a nice event and meeting with folks made things more fun. Events are more then just the free stuff you work for but rather the interactions you get to do, I did my first kissing contest and won a nice wearable at 100 kisses :) best memory for me was making new friends from the forum. I love zombies as much as the next person but come on, if it happens it happens, if not. Oh well, life happens.

HellHound, thanks for Keith's quote. We do need to realize that we go from the pandemic, then to the Masquerade, then to Vesnali. Heck, the Masquerade was late in 2012 because of site issues during the pandemic. That's a lot of work to do for the entire staff, not just the artists. So we got a break from new strains this year? Maybe we'll get a Masquerade plot as we didn't last year, or something with Vesnali. Let's not forget we had a plot with Luminaire in December, and we typically don't. Subeta is an amazing site with great events that change from year to year. Keep up the great work Keith and staff!

Wow...I can't really believe people are complaining about people complaining. Really guys? How can this site grow without its users pointing out what they do or do not like? There are places like site feedback for a reason, and while the complaints are probably better saved for there, I don't see any problem with people commenting on the news posts if they disagree.

Telling someone to "shut the fuck up" because they're 'complaining' is childish, just as telling people to shut up because they're praising the event is childish. The staff proved that they do listen to their users, they brought about this change, which wasn't horrible like some are saying. But it wasn't all that good, either. If people didn't 'whine' or complain everything would stay the same.

Just something to those who are not pleased with the event, why not say what you would like to see done differently? I've already left some feedback, I've posted twice there now actually. That's bound to be more helpful than this.

I really don't see people complaining as a bad thing, since most seem to be being polite about it. If someone is rude, then I think it'd be a bad thing but otherwise I'd call it constructive feedback and I think users have every right to it. I don't think the staff needs to cater to every desire of every user, but this is a site meant to entertain and a lot of people put real money into it. It's entirely fair to voice concerns or disappointment.

As for the event, I think it was rather...uneventful and not impressive, but I love the sweetheart pets enough to not really care about anything else. They are truly gorgeous, artists :3

Oh my goodness, people here, aren't you adults? I've never seen so much whining about something that they have no reason to whine about. The staff works hard to do several epidemics a year and I'm glad they took a small break for this one. It's silly to think something HUGE will happen every single year at the same time! That's just far to predictable. This isn't the only event Subeta does by the way, there are plenty others. And if it was that bad simply get off the site and go outside or something. They don't even have to do anything, they do events like this and others they have done in the past for us out of kindness and wanting to keep us entertained and happy. Suddenly we all feel so entitled and feel we have to let the staff know we are sooo upset? Grow up. I for one welcomed the small break from what is usually was.

While I'm with the users who are disappointed in no new strains this year I can say it was nice to do a change up. I would have loved a plot and a new strain myself but can see why it got changed up a bit. From how Keith has put it it doesn't seem like Zombies are going to disappear after just one year of not being around. So maybe next year or hey they may surprise us and have a new out break later this year alone. Who says Zombies are only out during February? ;)

I'm going to post again to say that Khaiya is right and that I'm sorry that I complained as much as I did. People are saying that having zombies every year is getting repetitive and boring. You know what's getting repetitive and boring? Collecting items and then cashing them so you can buy other items. It happens with it seems like every event and I was looking forward to my first pandemic/something special that happens. Like how in Luminaire we have a Christmas tree and that's special. Atleast you tried to pleased us instead of not having an event at all. /shrug Hoping Masquerade will be more enjoyable.

Why so much hate?

As a user whose been around for each pandemic I can't THANK YOU enough for changing this up! This is a very busy time of the year for me (uni midterms!) and being able to just do something as simple as kissing through my phone was awesome! The new pet color is AMAZING and the colors are just so pretty! They remind me of Vanellope from Wreck it Ralph which was one of my favorite movies this past year so it just ads to the love of them for me <3 can't wait to have a few myself!

In regards to the zombies, I personally am not huge on zombies to begin with (I am still a 2011 zombie) but have remained one in order to get my items inside the zombie den. The plots are yes- usually fun but they are really time consuming and sometimes it takes up the time for other plots that can be going on. I'd rather have a few mini-plots that have some easy things to do and a few big harder/more time invested plots throughout the year to mix things up.

THANK YOU STAFF for this fun and easy mini-plot :) No matter how you guys plan to go ahead, know that some of us are happy with how things went this year and do value and appreciate you guys :) you get so much flack and I don't think people realize what ya'll have to put into this site to make it work. <3

My only question, will I still be able to purchase from the parlor and the 2013 zombie den items after thurs? :)

I've never been around for any kind of real plot SO I really have no idea what people are complaining about (or rather, I can't relate) BUT, as I see it, the introduction of a new pet color was brilliant. I am in love with the Sweetheart pets and I thank the artists and the Subeta staff for making them possible. I just adore those little cuties and hope there are more to come soon! ❤️

Can't say that I'm as pleased with the change as I thought I'd be by the end of this...I really hope the zombies are involved in some other plot or something later this year. The new pet color is a nice addition but if it boiled down to it I'd rather have the infections than a new color...But I'm not trying to sound ungrateful.

I hope next pandemic makes up for this. :/

I'd just like to quote a post of Keith's here, in response to those who are disappointed:

Quote by Keith
Zombies aren&;t gone forever. Ecks is still there, Skitters is still there. We just found that making this part of the year an attempt to be huge every year was not only draining on us (especially when we have to dual plan it AND Masquerade) but could be a little bit much for the users to do and then immediately shift into Masquerade. Most of our users are casual players who sign on for 30 minutes a day (at the most!) and we have to design things around that sort of mindset.

Now the remembrance becomes one of our yearly holidays where something may just happen down the road when it&;s a year that the Masquerade doesn&;t have a big todo, we don&;t have a bigger event for Luminaire, etc. We&;re not closing the door on the story and I hope that we get to see more of these characters in the future AND we hope that if something does ever happen around this time again it&;s bigger and better than we&;ve been able to do before ;).

I know that everyone looked forward to the new strains year after year (and to those of you who thought that the creative juices from our art department were run out, shame on you! I know those girls could have come up with gruesome and horrifying diseases for another ten years) but it just didn&;t make sense from a lore perspective for the outbreak to happen at this exact time yearly, and all that jazz. I&;m not going to get into the whole zombie vs human thing because I think it&;s a cute thing that a lot of users carry with them around the site, but obviously not something we officially have a position on.

❤

Is it one of those "I'm too cool for what's cool" moves where we ditch the zombie aspect because it's so mainstream? I was really looking forward to a plot and being turned, onto the next boring same-as-this-with-different-art "event."

Thanks for the warning! ^^ I shall go and get some more stuff bought from Louis shop while there are still hearts around~

For those that feel like they have too many hearts, who's to say there will be nothing else to do with them later on? (Like Fantine and her pumpkin pies?) Or just save them for next year for a headstart on the shop/new pets that could be released throughout the year (:

I'm not getting into the 'business' debate because I don't feel like it applies here. I don't feel like every event should have a big plot and even if I missed having at least a bit of a story involving Skitters and Ecks, I'm still very happy for the new pet color, new goodies to shop, new uses for candy hearts, new floating flowers... and also because events shall be less predictable from now on :3 As much as I love seeing the new strains, I agree that people were probably taking zombies for granted at this point, so one year without them doesn't sound too terrible for me, given no one was excluded from any activity (: Tbh, I was a bit tired of seeing some people go "argh I have to zombify if I want to participate/ugh zombie HAs everywhere" :c

Personally I'm very disappointed with how this event has turned out. From 2009 the "Great Pandemic" has been extremely fun and interesting, this year however was a flop. The event was boring to be quite frank as it was exactly the same as every other event on site - you collect something and get rewards for it, but doing so is incredibly repetitive. Sure, the new pet colour is great, but that fantasy has worn out already.

I've spent less time on Subeta towards the end of the event than I have for a very long time simply because I didn't want to be reminded of the boring event. Seeing kisses makes me feel obliged to give them back, but I sure as hell don't have the time or patience to do that for two weeks without a plot.

I'm sorry Subeta, but I hope you're planning to create something absolutely huge this year. :(

Thank you, Khaiya, for summing that up for us. I completely agree.

To those complaining - yea, I'm a bit bummed at the lack of plot and new virus strains too, but think about it this way: INSTEAD, you got A NEW PET COLOR, and non-zombie people were given temporary access to a usually ZOMBIE ONLY part of Subeta. I think that is more than a fair trade off! Don't you think so?

Besides.... lack of plot in one event might mean epic plot in a future event. So how about stop being butt hurt about what didn't happen with this event, be happy with the awesome stuff we did get, and just look forward to the next event in excited anticipation, hm?

You know, I was around in 2010 before I quit and later returned. I remember people throwing a fit about that Pandemic, saying there shouldn't be any more zombies, that they didn't think it was fair that there should be new strains, the first wave of zombies should be the only zombies, blah blah blah.

Funny that people are now raging over a year without new strains.
