Underground Notice

Just a friendly notice that the underground will be closing Thursday evening! This will include floating items and candy hearts as well.

Update: Zombies will continue to have access to their respective year(s)!

While some complaints have been worded a bit more harshly than others, most people here have simply voiced their disappointment in the lack of zombies this year, which seems to have been a very popular part of a popular event time on the site according to these comments.

I've also seen zero people be completely ungrateful for the new pet color...in fact even most of the people disappointed with the no-zombies have made a point to express thanks for the color, the items, and the heads of the ending. But not only do people have a right to say that they are disappointed/upset about something they looked forward to not happening, but the site has a right to know about something they changed that disappointed a large number of people (just as they have the right to know what people liked about what they've done). Maybe they didn't realize what a huge impact no strains would have on the users and would want to re-think it for the future. Especially considering I've seen more than one comment posted here saying that that specific part of this event was what drew some of their newest users to the site, only to be let down.

People shouldn't only be able to voice their opinion if they like something (or have to like something just because it was handed to them instead of what they were expecting or wanted) and have to "shut the fuck up" if they don't. How they express this might be questionable, though.

I've said my piece in the forums about the lack of zombies, so I won't grumble here, but I was surprised that we didn't even get any new achievements this time. I would have thought something like "buy five items from Luis' parlour" would have been easy to implement.

Oh well, I got both 1000 kisses achievements this year (which probably means I won't have enough juice left to dance all that much in the Masquerade :P), so at least that's something.

Some of these immature comments make me shake my head. Why focus on the negative aspects? We got updates, a bunch of new items, a new pet color.. Thank you Subeta team for this event, I enjoyed it.

Why this suddenly turned ito a war zone? This was just an announcement and everyone started complaining. I know many of us love the zombies (I do too) but doing something different this year was cool too, plus I was grateful since I didn't had the same time to play it. I must say it must be tiring to plan the events and we enjoy them lots so that is what we should focus on the good time and positive things. Hey I missed the zombies but I won't make a fuss because of it. I love the new pet colors and all the great items in the shops.

We should have fun here not argue. ^_^

Thanks to the staff again for your hard work!

I loved the "quiet pace" of this year's event. It's a bit much having the same zombie infection thing year after year. I loved the fact that you took a break from it this year, and if it should come back next year, everyone will appreciate it all the more!

,

Please don't use me to defer from 's words.

Also, I said "shut the fuck up". It's part of a phrase commonly used to tell people to shut up, which I was doing. People complaining really need to be quiet and just enjoy what they got this year. A new pet color! Do you know how rare that is? Like Keith said, not every year is going to have a massive Zombie plot/infection. That's just the way that it is. I am so sick and tired of people feeling "entitled" to a new strain or something new and then complaining/ranting when they don't get it. It's seriously like watching spoiled children cry when they don't get candy.

but it just didn&;t make sense from a lore perspective for the outbreak to happen at this exact time yearly, and all that jazz

Actually, that gives me hope for a major zombie attack on Subeta at some point in the future - not having it happening the same time each year, makes for a more enjoyable event (seeing as we don't know ]i]what[/i] is going to happen, or when it's likely to :)

And I adore the Sweetheart pets (the Rreign in particular), which was a super addition to the event this year :D

I just wanted to say thank you guys so much for the awesome event. Yeah, we didn't get zombies but I can appreciate all the effort that went into organizing, planning and creating the entire thing. After reading Keith's statement, I can only imagine how draining the process is, especially with the Masquerade coming up (not that I doubt the creativity of the artists in the slightest because - hello, Sweetheart pets :3)

Moreover, I actually ended up enjoying this plot a lot since I've been really busy with exams and charity as of late and this kind of event is simple but fun and the new items were adorable and lovely as always :) Thank you Subeta!

Wow I can't believe how nasty some people's comments are. I am kind of relieved the event wasn't as intense as it sometimes is. I haven't had the free time the last couple weeks. And in addition, there were so many beautiful items released AND a new pet color (all amazing I think). I thought it was an awesome light event. And awesome use of the hearts. I liked kissing for hearts. This chick liked the event.

i'm going to be honest, i'm disappointed that there are no zombies this year; i was really looking forward to that. however, i think that with no zombies this year, i have a feeling that it will lead the way for a bigger plot continuation next year; and i'm looking forward to that.

on another note, i'll have to get the rest of my candy hearts fast! i need to get my hands on a sweetheart potion. ; u ;

I was sick, so I didn't even get to participate this year. Kind of a bummer because right after Morostide, this was my favorite Subeta event. It's great that things are changing, but I thought this was something that would keep on-going. Even if there weren't new items, there was a thrill to seeing the new strains every year and being a zombie for a little while or permanently. Oh, well, good things must come to an end. I'm sure Subeta is right about what they are doing; it will just take time for people to adjust.

Well, I gotta say I'm really disappointed that there won't be more zombies. It was really my favorite segment of all the events on the site, and I look forward to it every year. The new color was cute, but yeah. I miss the zombies. I can only keep my fingers crossed that this was toned down so much either because the Masquerade or Vesnali will be superduper redonculously epic or simply to mark Skitters' unhappiness with the changes, so next year will get to have a super enormously fun stand-off between Skitters and Ecks. I can't stand seeing Skitters kept down like that :C

So wait I am I bit confused about this. Is the underground going to be closed PERMANENTLY, or will it just be closed for non zombies? Also will the items in 2013 in the Zombie Den be retired?

I'm just asking confused about how this effects Zombies and if there are things I need to buy or get before it's closed. I know about the hearts and the flowers, so that's not a problem for me, but I still got things to do in the underground...

I guess I'll throw in my two cents as well- Subeta does not get paid for doing events. As we don't pay for them you can't really refer to the users as customers. The staff takes it upon themselves to work on events even though they aren't getting any money back from it, so really the events are more like a gift from them rather than a business transaction. People are saying that "Everyone has a right to their opinion" and such, but what if you were the one who worked hard to present something only to have people yell at you because it wasn't as good as your project last year?

As for the event itself, having new pet colors was a nice surprise. I joined in 2009 so, personally, I tend to think of turning zombie as something that's special and rare rather than a given every year. I also don't really have a problem with having modest events every now and then. I would rather the staff only commit to something that they put their heart and soul into rather than trying to force something that they don't feel up to. Most websites only do two events a year, by contrast Subeta usually does seven. All in all we're pretty spoiled. :)

"to single out an individual because that individual's idea's differs from your own is biased." No. I singled you out because you are the only one posting things like, "OMG STOP COMPLIMENTING GUYS YOU SOUND SO PETTY SERIOUSLY" after having been told to play nice. Users are more than welcome to express themselves, whether it be praise or complaint. However. There is a difference between being tactful, and being downright disrespectful. Few users complaining have been particularly tactful, but they aren't yelling at others and calling them names as well.

OK as a UA then you need to focus on everyone that is participating not just one. to single out an individual because that individual's idea's differs from your own is biased. SOOOOO many users have been telling the people complaining to shut up etc, it would be fair to ,as a UA, tell them to stop as well. If you want to tell 1 person to be fair make sure you are telling everyone

Subeta does too much of 'x'. People complain. People suggest something new ('y'). Subeta listens. Subeta changes the way 'x' is done. People complain. Kudos to the staff for being able to handle of this.

Also, I enjoyed this style of event. New pet color was nice and the items were pretty cool. Thanks! ❤

Hmm. I'm definitely disappointed the zombie part of the event didn't happen (there were people who didn't like the zombies in previous years? Really??), but I am happy with what did happen - the kissing, new items, and new pets. However my main comment is that I wish the staff had given us a head's up that this year the event would be toned down. I know the news said that there was an inoculation, but we just thought that meant there was a twist in how the virus was going to be spread this year. I cured my disease from last year right as this event started, to get a new virus. Will those of us who cured right before the event be given the option to go back to our zombie strain from last year, since we were acting on a fair assumption that the event would play out like it has every previous year? I'll file a ticket asking this too. Thank you.

So that's it then?

No more zombies? No more zombie plots? No more zombie den items or literally anything that made Subeta's valentines event worth participating in?

Great. Now Subeta's valentines event is exactly the goddamn same as every other one ever.

Zombies was the first event I ever saw of this site, and it's been my favorite for many years. I fail to see why getting rid of it was a good idea. Unless you guys have some sudden resurgence planned later this year, but I'm not very confident of that.

First of all, I'm a UA... so yes, play nice. Everyone has an opinion. You need to be respectful of those opinions, even if they differ from your own. I understand the discontent, but there's no reason to be calling those who enjoyed the event petty for saying so.

Thanks for pointing out Keith's quote for us Hellhound. Seeing that explains the whole thing, and makes a lot of sense! I spend a lot of time on subeta currently but I know if my work was busier I wouldn't have time to fully enjoy all these back-to-back events as deeply as I'd wish to. The fact that the staff is taking our busy lives (or casual playstyles) into account is much appreciated. I look forward to seeing what the staff have planned for the rest of the events this year, whether it's something big or our usual activities.
