I don't do all my quests, but I don't think lowering the amount is a good idea - less items moving or being taken out, less time spent on the site doing things.
The rest, I'm indifferent to.
Thanks for linking this forum thread in the news. I would totes missed testing the coming changes without it!
I tried the new quests, and then some old quests for comparison. What I really like is the reputation system. It feels like the NPCs are more important, not just random pictures that give out items. I hope there will be no "top tier" level to reach, because being "best friend of every NPC" will kinda take away the sense of achievement.
Speaking of: The new quest system needs more sense of agency and less instant gratification. If I get a small amount of random quests where the only thing I need to do is click the "buy the cheapest" button ... I can't really see myself questing at all. I do like the option to see if items are hiding in my inventory. I also know that "open another page to look at user shops" is not really an action per se. But in the new quest system there is nothing to choose, nothing to decide, nothing I can even pretend to roleplay.
Imagine a classic game. You walk up to a quest giving NPC asking you to bring them bread. But instead of you walking down the street to the right shop, or you opening the crafting screen, or you doing anything else, the NPC says "I need bread and I take x gold from you to buy it myself, here's your reward, kthxbye". That's not very satisfying. And I know Subeta quests are more "click" that "walk", but still, it feels wrong.
... I just noticed how much I miss the plots! xD
While I am enjoying these "daily quests", how often are they supposed to actually get reset? i get new ones about once a week. Maybe.
RIP Mom, I love & miss you more than you know. Tell Dede hi.
Ocean Conservation Namibia on YouTube... they do good work! https://www.ocnamibia.org
I like the new quests. With most of the current quests, it's the same repetitiveness of search shops for item, click buy, go back to quest giver... And with as many quests as GA gives across all the NPCs, it can take hours to do all of them. It's almost worth losing a few daily quests for the fewer clicks. Though three quests a day feels really small. That's a fifth of what GA users get, and with only a few NPCs available each day?
I think either the rewards would need to be increased so there's no real "net loss" of profits for a day of quests, or the number of quests needs to increase. Even 5, with 10 for GA, would feel better.
Sorry if any of this has been covered already, but I'm just getting to see these now, I didn't even know this thread was going on haha
I like the idea of reputation and simpler quests. Having one pool of total quests a user can complete per day and multiple givers is a great way to specialize and have fun getting the stuff you actually want, though if the quests you are able to do is based on RNG, that completely defeats the purpose. I can't actually tell if this is the case/intention, but please NO RNG! Especially if the intention is more of a choose your own adventure RNG just completely nullifies that.
Where RNG could be a factor though is, if you could get a random bonus quest from a random event, and that just assigns a random quest giver. That would be fun because its a bonus and could encourage discovery. I always wondered why the only bonus quest from random event we ever got was The Wizard, so it would be cool if this function continued forward but opened up the pool for quest givers.
I will admit any changes to quest has kind of a knee jerk reaction from me. I do most quests every day and thats my main source of income on subeta. The main reason I have a GA is quests and autopricer. As many others said, I do quests while I'm doing another task at work or something. My main things I do on subeta are quests and work on my collections, which I only really do because my focus is better when i multitask. I am interested in seeing how the quests turn out and have faith that it will be ok, but it still makes me super nervous since quests are so integral to how the site functions (for me anyway)
Saggi asked for Regenerating Pylonic all three times today. Please make it stop :(
I made a total of under 150k sP from all the quests. This IS going to be dramatically increased, right? Right? This is supposed to be our entire daily income going forward? The tokens and books from the wizard are nice but don't come close to what we get from the classic quests. The new questgivers hardly reward enough to cover the items they ask for.
I tried the quests out today and wasn't impressed. It was a bit extra sP plus a few more items after doing the ordinary quests but I dread to think how we are meant to make sP if the Kumos quests are going to be the only ones we have.
Maybel's quest reset and asked me for the same item three times in a row: https://subeta.net/user_shops.php/search/shops/teapup
I suspect the random number generation is messed up & constantly reusing the same seed/resetting, because this has been happening since the new quests started, where it asks for the same item every time (not just for me, for everyone, resulting in the items costing way too much if you are a late arrival and all the cheap ones have been bought up already)
---- editing on old site rather than posting a new post on new site, where I still can't edit, but can double post ---
Did the other quests, too.
Your Rewards: 10,078 sP total Base reward: 9,979 sP +99 sP from reputation tier bonus
…
I know the wizard is currently asking for two spells galore items worth 500 sP each, but 9k profit per quest is next to nothing (although Rumi was worse because she asks for more expensive items and gives back around the same) and +100 sP (or less) as a bonus is a bit of a joke. Maybel’s bonus gave a whopping +990 sP (or less) making the total ~15-16k payout equally unimpressive. I recognise that there are meant to be multiple tiers and maybe the last few will be lucrative. Idk.
Wondering how I’ll make sP in the future tbh. Buy up a hoard of the few items that keep getting asked for (regenerative pylonic) and price gouge? (Not serious, but some players will do this and it will suck.) When questgivers ask for expensive items they seem to pay out well (sometimes extremely well), but with so few quests per day, the odds of that seem low.
Hate to be so negative, but I was quite looking forward to the ‘increased prizes’ and they really were not as positive as I’d been led to believe. XD
Questing is the only way I make SP, so a significantly decreased number of quests with a significant decrease in SP rewards is gonna be no bueno... my favorite things to do here are dress up my HA and collect treasures for my pets, both which needs me lots of SP lol. Also birthday and Lumi gifting for friends.... so this change worries me. And currently I can go to the Quest Shop and buy whatever I want.... but then I will have to spend SP? When I won't be making much anymore? I'll have to level up AND spend SP that I don't have! 😅
And people who make their SP from their shops rely on people like me, questers, buying from their shops... so it seems like it'd suck for them, too.
How do other people make SP? Games don't pay out much, and I don't have the real life monies to be converting CSC to SP. Dunno, man, sounds doomy. This site is a nice distraction from the horrors of reality, largely because here I can actually afford stuff lol
I assume the repetitive requested items and reward pools will be updated before a full launch, as well as tweaks to the number of quests/other issues brought up above, so I'm only going to comment on UI/QoL stuff. I play primarily on mobile.
flex-wrap on mobile so that the text could use the full width, and maybe the circular NPC icon could be used instead.Looking forward to seeing what changes are coming to this system!
I think this new way has potential. I assume that as you do more quests and get higher reputation with the quest givers, you would get better prizes as well? I see a lot of people are worried about how little they feel they've gotten with the new set up, and about not getting things like Morty cards anymore, but if we're building up reputation with the quest givers, then maybe we could see better and more exclusive prizes the more we do the quests?
it does feel a bit odd to have the option to buy the items from the shop right there immediately after being given the quest, like you're not really putting in the work for the quest, but I never felt like I was putting in the work to do the quests anyway. like, I was just doing a search, so it doesn't feel terrible to loose that, just that this kind of highlights how little we actually are doing for these quests. I do also kind of miss seeing people's shop names, as when faced with two similarly priced items, I would just buy from the shop name I liked best. I don't know how to really fix the actual item gathering part of quests to make it feel more like you're on a quest. I just always took the quests as an easy way to make SP and nothing more. I guess I could give or take the new way of buying from shops.
over all, I like it. I think it could use work, but also I trust that this isn't the final product, so I'm not too worried.
oh, also, were the quests supposed to reset twice for me today? I did the thre qizard quests, got a notice there was a reset, did three more, then got another notice that there was a reset. I have yet to do the extra three wizard quests.
Honestly I just wanted to chime in and say I love how the quests are done. I enjoy having it all on one page, makes it easier than making a new tab, buying the item, coming back and finishing the quest.
Sometimes it's hard for me to have motivation (I know, it's so easy. Tell that to my depression.) and actually do quests daily. I look forward to these when they are reset so much. These are super fun to me. After being on this website for so long (even after a mega super extended hiatus spanning about 8 years total) it still feels as fun and fresh as it did when I first started 18 years ago. I think this is going in a great direction, especially with the reputation to be earned with each quest giver.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all the hard work and effort to keep things running so smoothly and as entertaining as always. <3
I decided to try the supposedly easy and faster way out for once - So far I've been doing the longwinded and time consuming copy/paste in account search/search shop on legacy, refresh Kumos window, choose "from inventory" and press finish quest. I've just noticed, that the new "choose to finish quest" options don't include "choose from my shop" ?
Instead of automatically clicking shop search within view I need to scroll down to see all the items asked for, then read for ever to see, if they are in shops (the button isn't greyed out but simply not there, if not, so no eye automatism over time), tediously find/read the lowest price in user shops, without knowing/being able to choose, who I buy from, I don't automatically see, that I have 175 in my own shop and click "move" in shop search... And in the end I have to scroll down again to see the prizes!
All in all after all those weeks I'm not happy with the new quest setup and layout. The old way is waaayyy faster, more informative and efficient, with a clearer & more condensed layout. I have a different approach to how I do my quests than simply click through them fast (not unlike many others, who have posted that here), which the Kumos way doesn't support. This is still an economy game not a one armed bandit. I need to see the numbers, weigh the options against each other (of course most efficiently and as fast as possible, so I get done with the many quests quickly)
Truffula mentioned user preference option to eventually choose between hover or cklick - may be also Legacy and Kumos style questing? That would be a cool way out!
So far Wizard asked me for the very same 2 items in both quests! Make that a third of one in the 3rd.
Re layout - the level bar (in the otherwise totally empty big field - sorry...) is kind of utterly redundant, more so useless, since it doesn't actually tell us, how long we have to go to reach next level (I thought hovering would display that), but we have the exact number written out above.
I like questing, I do it in my downtime at work, so reducing the amount of quests per day is a bummer. On the other hand, I understand why it's being done! And I trust that the currency 'losses' will be managed in some other way on the site. I'm keen to see the changes when they start coming together.
For my issues with today's quests:
My second and third Maybel quests both asked for a Staer.
My second Maybel quest failed during processing and I got an error window, so I'm not sure if I received the rewards or not.
One of my Rumi quests asked for a 'Black Monitor', of which there are none in user shops at all. It does have a very low main shop price, so I guess that's why it's in the pool, but it should possibly be removed if I can't get any anywhere. That feels like a waste of my small number of daily quests to have to cancel.
Hunting for: (It's the only beanbag I need for a full collection!)
I think the items in your shop has to priced in order to show up as an option. It's better to put it in your vault if you want to use your own items for questing or price them.
I don't know if the 15% shop discount works when you buy from NPC shops while questing, if you have that buff.
I have to say I am really not liking the extremely low SP payout for the quests on Kumos. We already get only 3 and they are paying out next to nothing. I tried Saggi today and made 10k per quest. Not great compared to current Saggi which I am really excited to always do. As a GA user, I tend to bank 5 mil a day, I can't see how that will happen with these new quests. I hate to worry but I am getting really afraid of not being able to earn enough SP for anything once the change happens. I thought the whole point of the change was making players want to quest more but this is honestly making me not even want to bother. I sincerely hope some changes are made before they replace the ones we have right now. :(
Even if I have them priced, they are not showing up, because with the current economy they normally are not anywhere close to the cheapest, yet I'd probably see them on Legacy SS.
I have them both in shop and vault. And during questing I decide, from where I use them - if at all. Depends on quantity, shop and user shop prices.
No, buff and discount cards don't work on Kumos yet. One of the reasons, I buy on legacy - esp. taking the measly rewards into account, rofl. I'm such a scrooch.
I also fell victim to Saggi asking for Regenerating Pylonic 3 times. And no, he's not getting any from my stash, those are for battling only ;-) - still affordable, but reward is measly. on legacy always close to 100 up to 140, Kumos 70smthg,
Ha! Maleria also asked for a Regenerating Pylonic (price had gotten up from 21 to 40 k! , but her reward did cover the expense) and Dark Death Potion twice.
Maybel also asked for Shytake twice. The redundancy ist killing me - as is "Quest started! Go collect the required items and return to complete the quest." Please get rid of that and save us some scrolling!
I just checked out the offical posts to narrow down what's been talked about, because 17 pages is a lot of conversation, and it actually looks like Keith has addressed some concerns, and actually I feel a lot more positively about this new change. I think if building reputation could change how NPCs interact with you throughout the site or future plots, I think that could be fun. actually some of these changes do make me feel more excited about the future of quests.
I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but I'd like there be an option to pull from my shop(s). I restock quite a few pricy items and would love for it show as an option VS having to do an account search for it.
Started a Rumi quest: there's no option to buy Black Monitor from shops (literally: it does not appear as an option, while the other two options to pull from inventory/vault are greyed out; this should be changed to match, because I thought it was a bug), because there aren't any. I got this twice.
