I second ColdDragon and Silvy's ideas.

Agreeing with everyone here at this point. I think showing grayed out challengers would be so great, help a lot of folks know what they still need to unlock.
Also when parched and bona were more functional I would only put one on a weapon and then use the other crystals (something I've been doing lately, buying and using EoR and other ones to mod my weapons for attack and defense rather than stacking the basics...now I've seen the difference it makes and I'm left wondering if I need to remod my weapons just stacking parched and bona instead of using the other crystals.
Also I'd really like to see the rest of the crystals show up. Rose/Parched/Ice should all have the full gamut at least. I'd be okay with the lower stats on parched bona etc if like, there were stronger versions that I could work towards getting as challenger loot.
Happy New Year! Scaled Bonas could come from the Battle Shop as well in higher token tiers. Speaking of - how about a new nice weapon? Lucent (Broken) after the revamp isn't quite as uninteresting as before, but lonely ;-) I'd also take ...boxes...😇
I lock my vote in on scaleable higher tier versions of Bona and Parched, because EoRs are gonna be hardest to obtain, especially if they're not in the battle shop and only drop on a few opponents. Therefore, it allows the activation rate to be back to what it was before, but obviously you have to work for it. As for art, as long as there's a working file of the higher tier crystals, all you need to do is colour it yellow for both and then release it. Only takes 5 minutes.

While we are tweaking challengers, can we have the difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard, Very Hard, Extremely Hard or Impossible) back on the challenger page?
Yesyesyes p l e a s e!?
Throwing my support in for the leading suggestions as well.
I also disagree with the statement of parched/bona mods are too powerful and make the other mods worthless. It is the freeze mechanic itself that is too powerful. Like others have mentioned, if you increase the proc for protection for parched or bona, then that frees the other slots to be used for defense and attack. Decreasing the rate only makes you need that many more to equip on your weapons to avoid being frozen/all your weapons stolen by opponents with high freeze/steal rates.
I would love some changes to the BoNA/parched tweaks! I'm bringing 4x parched to a fight and really struggling to get consistent antifreeze blessing uptime, which makes dying to freeze all the more frustrating :<
If these changes were meant to balance out the def crystal changes, I think the BoNA/parched tweaks are especially punishing for battlers who might not have the sP/battle strength to access higher crystals . The proc rates on the more afforable lower elemental crystal tiers (cabochon, moonstone, brilliant) aren't really stellar either so they kind of get the worst of both worlds.
i don't remember if the revamp was going to be only for weapons changes (i think it was, but now i see people asking for other things like adding the difficulty and so on) so if whatever's happening next also includes coding changes, a second look at the header for battle pages would be really nice ;o; reorganize the "battle menu"
[edit]
The freeze rate of the shriek of despair scroll might also have changed from 85% to 75%. I just tested over two hundred turns because it felt like my scrolls were freezing less. Maybe if there is someone else that would like to test and confirm to make sure it's not just me and bad luck.
ran some freeze scroll testing to check on wesker's data: : 157/205 = 76.5% freeze proc, probable 75% freeze rate : 275/401 = 68.5% freeze proc, unsure what the true freeze rate is because my numbers had a lot of weird flux between 65-69% when i was testing : 132/203 = 65% freeze proc, consistent with current freeze rate data edit: did another ~100 turns with cold blast to beef up the testing data, still rockin in the ~66% neighborhood so 65% still seems very probable
i will say though, the fact that psycho smasher is +3 AP compared to cold blast seems unjustified if the freeze rates are now comparatively similar. i don't think the attack on psycho smasher is compellingly powerful enough to justify the higher AP cost to equip.
edit again b/c more testing: : 145/200 = 72.5% freeze proc rate, my estimate is that the freeze rate is ~70%
Thank y'all for doing the testing! I noticed a difference through my recent battles, but I haven't had the time to test.
I don't recall any mention of these scrolls being tampered with.

To note- the freeze rate changes: Shriek of Despair: 75%, 15AP Psycho Smasher: 65%, 16 AP
Old Stats Shriek of Despair: 85%, 15AP Psycho Smasher: 75%, 16 AP
So, the freezing rates took a hit, freeze protection took a hit, but opponent freeze weapons stayed the same. Cool.
Hoarfrost only grows stronger from us getting the nerfs.

Purge did note a reduction in def on both scrolls (reduction I guess meaning completely gone) and an added attack to shriek that was communicated, but I did not see anything in regards to a change in freeze rates. I just happened to notice it when I was battling like you did. Good to know I am not going crazy or unlucky.
[Edit] I see now too that it was Jess that originally communicated the changes to parched and bona mods (huge thank you for checking!) that were excluded from the update to mods post. I thought this was a change log meant to capture all updates...
That's right, I remember those changes now. I didn't recall an announced change to the freeze rates. I only noticed a reduction over the past few days when I was trying to crank out some last minute wins before the reset.
Hopefully certain opponents are modified to account for our freeze/heal nerfs. It would be nice if all changes could be pushed through and finalized before the reset, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Now that shriek also does attack damage, there really is no justification to want to ever equip psycho smasher. It used to be for the ice block and attack damage shrieks lacked. It's hard to obtain multiple copies of and costs more AP to equip.
I am hoping all the freeze/steal happy opponents are addressed even if the process is slow and takes a while to get the balance right. I don't mind testing so that battlers aren't driven away by changes. The opponents that are high freeze chance but also have a blessing that full blocks freezing from the battle especially need another look. I was never a fan of that gimmick in the first place.
shooooot you have a great point hmm i feel like psycho smasher really got the short end of the stick with these changes. it lost its more competitive freeze rate and its niche as a more offensive freeze scroll. i really wonder what the rationale was for the nerfs it received. though it's possible to obtain 2 copies, it's significantly harder to farm than cold blast (and arguably shrieks during moros season).
im also happy to help with testing weaps/scrolls too!
