Not really anything to say this time, but next drop will include what is I think my most used HA item ever (that isn't a lip).

I STILL REALLY MISS THESE! Looking on Subetalodge, it seems like the last floating anniversary bags were maybe for the 9th anniversary? The news confirms, last floater bag in 2013. Makes me so sad, these are so much fun. Looking through the news, it got changed to quest shops, token shop, forum tickets...I get why, but I still don’t agree.

(I was about to make a comment about how one year they didn’t even have anything for it, but then I saw it was 2020, and yeah, if any year would ever get a pass, it’s that one.)

(also looking at the same month going back each year to 2013 is really sad seeing how many news posts there are per day/week/month now, versus back then in the height of the site when there were pretty consistently multiple news posts per day.)

Why is this such a big item? It is, I’m 99% sure, my MOST used wearable aside from probably the Maid lipstick.

I used it in 38 of my HAs, with three additional HAs where I MIGHT have used it but it’s hard to tell. I won’t post all 38, but here’s a random selection from old and terrible to new and good. And this time, I’ll see if I can grab the dates of the HAs as well. Thank you, image properties!

I’m genuinely surprised I only used them in about a two year period, but I suppose that makes sense. In that period of time, I’d made 513 numbered HAs, with probably a small amount additional where I didn’t save them under a number and therefore have no clue when they were actually made. Then in the 7 years following (until I really faded out mid-2016), I only made around 175 HAs. Definitely a big drop off in time.

Oh hey! I totally forgot the rreigns used to be called dragons! Name was changed in November 2008. Which makes sense, because this was also the year that introduced Fireside, and the Red Rreign.

Considering that, at least for 2007, the November ‘holiday’ was just items being released for Thanksgiving, this change to Fireside was very exciting! The bonfire was a very thematic element, and the randomness of throwing the rreign items in and either getting a prize or a kiss was very fun! It led to nice collectibles both from the prizes and from the floaters themselves. I remember the forums being full of people speculating and trying to figure out if there was a pattern to which items would be accepted or not.

...Looking at the news comment, I forgot that there was also the chance that an inventory item would get burned and destroyed. I feel like this doesn’t happen anymore? So it must have changed later on, the same way that the tax achievement was removed, and item theft random events were removed. Random is fun for GETTING things, not so much for losing things, especially when it’s something you’ve spent a lot of time and effort into getting. Perhaps this got changed to the HA getting burned instead.

Oh, he could attack your pets too! I think it was just your active pet? I’m a bit surprised that I’ve forgotten the ‘downsides’ of participating. I suppose I just simplified it in my mind to the bare minimums. I’m looking at the news comments for the ‘09 Fireside and have not seen about an item being burned, instead this is where Cursed Effigy was released. No comments about destroyed items in ‘10 either… maybe it was just a one year thing.

Honestly? If I’m still around doing my giveaway by November (I’ve got 116 pages in my vault left after this, assuming I don’t start questing again and adding more stuff), I may actually participate a little bit in the event. :) (I just had a brief moment of panic that I somehow completely missed Masquerade, then I remembered that it’s now in May. I think it was only in March for like, two years? before it got adjusted.)

2008 and 2009 really were the big years for changing holidays to be Subeta themed, and it worked very well for the site. Transitioning Eater to Vesnali, Halloween into Morostide, Thanksgiving into Fireside, Christmas into Luminaire, there’s a level of welcoming to people who don’t celebrate the main holidays – people who aren’t Christian, people who aren’t American, to name a few – which just makes it more accessible and friendly to everyone.

Shout out to the flowing skirts! A very good staple!

The Flashback trunk!! Good items, but it’s the bracelets and wrist bands that got the most use from me. I’m entertained that the Material Girl items are all pricey, while the majority of Wild One items are much cheaper.

Please accept the level of restraint that I am showing by only posting two HAs. I used the Wild One Bracelets counts 13 times! I know that doesn’t sound like a lot, but with how many HAs I made with unique items for only 1-3 uses, anything repeated more than 5 times feels like a ton! (My most used is the maid lipstick, used 51 times that are visible, but I know I also layered with it a BUNCH, so I’m assuming around 70 uses at least! I'm slowly going through and looking at repetitions for my own enjoyment, but I'm pretty sure the next used items are like....15 uses or less.) (also - I don't know why but I still ADORE that yellow and black HA! I know I've posted some shame here, but I'm pleased with how many HAs I still absolutely love, and how many HAs I can appreciate even if I don't think they are particularly good. ...the first 300 though are ROUGH.)

!!! I remember being so excited when I got this assembled. Looking at the pieces now, they all seem affordable, so I wonder what the change was. I remember this being expensive and hard!

FREE BEEEEEEEERRRR!!!!! I only have 25 of these left, I managed to get one of the time the recycle beast called for it. This was the first, and in my opinion, the best of the three 'refresh to get a billion of 'em'. This, the shovel, and the asmodeus concoction base. I'm going to assume that staff expected us to be responsible with it. ....we weren't. People were getting thousands and thousands, I wouldn't be surprised if some users got HUNDREDS of thousands. I wish I could remember how many I actually got. It was in the thousands, I know that. Realistically, probably only 3,000, but I do have a very vague and possible fake memory of 30,000.
