Wait, Noxtide...goes with Lionfish? Well whaddoya know, of course it does! Lmao I have wondered (at separate times) about what is supposed to pair with Lionfish AND with Noxtide and decided they were just standalone genes. And I'm a pretty big fan of Noxtide! I've been wanting to like Lionfish more so this knowledge should help haha

It is!!! It took me awhile to learn this too! I do wish the Lionfish gene was more like the Noxtide, because I'm like you and I favor Noxtide a lot more. But yeah if you're ever curious what pairs with what you can look in the game database and I believe the comments usually tell you :3

Lionfish is too busy for me in most colors whereas Noxtide adds just the right amount of patterning and a little pop of the alt color. I always thought the busy-ness of Lionfish made it not really go with anything but now I realize the oddly-bright colors do match with that little bit from Noxtide. I think I never really noticed because I tend to play around more with dragons who have three totally different colors rather than XXXs where the genes would be more matchy. Now I want to go and find myself a good Lionfish dragon...yay, another project lol

It really is a bit busy. I haven't had any luck making it work with dragons that aren't similar colors or XXY/XXX. I just gened this guy a few days ago, and it worked really well because XXY and the Tert was red:

Haha I know, that's why that gene never really made sense to me. Like what am I gonna do with all these goofy contrasting colors, and that's not even the same alt color that usually appears with Radioactive. I mean, this is a XXX, what is this mess? lmao

You'd probably just have to do Lionfish/Noxtide together for it to work if you're doing XXX I'm not a big fan of Smirch but it doesn't look half bad on this!

It's weird when they have different color pallets/alternative color for certain ones. I guess to change it up a bit? But that does make things difficult for people who want to breed XXX/XXY
