I was sure I replied to this o.O I never had a Commodore, but we did have an Atari Amgia and my Grandad had a 'BBC computer' before that ;)

Partly that he has plenty of time, and partly that he kind of processes things at a similar pace, so he doesn't feel it's particularly slow! :P

Which zombie infection are you on at the moment? I decided to actually get on and do that last vial I needed (it's a gross one, hence why I've covered my HA :P) ;)

I'm on the Creeping vial at the moment - which is disgusting, so I figured I might as well just cover my HA for a day or two! Which one are you on now? And I love the Panzer look :D

I've 10 more to go (Angler, Bright Bite, Bubble Jelly, Buzzkill, Clusterflux, Death Slug, Hive Mind, Lobster Face, Love Sucks & Muerte Fuerte) plus another two that are really disgusting (Death Worms & Faceworm) :P but I figured I should just get on and do at least one of the horrible ones, otherwise one year that'll be all I'll have left to get! :P

Same for me, I have already gotten my favorite skins. I counted last night, I have 20 left to collect. All survival.

I had to google the BBC computer. Funny how it has the same name as the channel. :P They looked ancient and I love it. So typical 80s. Atari made some good stuff before the company went downhill. If he just likes to do things like playing solitaire, reading the news etc the computer will be able to do that job. ;)

I am working on love sucks/dry right now. It seems to take forever to progress. :) 20 survival skins left to collect for me, but none I really love.

I don't remember having many games for the Atari, but I know I had a couple of friends round to play the games at one point ;) (I don't think the others in the street had a computer then) ;)

Literally all he does is play solitaire on there now - he doesn't have the computer connected to the internet any more, as it was getting risky where Microsoft don't do any more security updates because it's such an old operating system!

It's surprising how after the initial excitement of 'what will the next stage be' how 8 hours feels so long when you're waiting for an older strain to progress! And that makes it harder to pick which one to go with if you haven't got any kind of stand-out favourites among them. My last vial strain finished this afternoon, so I've gone with Bubble Jelly this time :D

I am not sure what else you could do on the Atari other than play games? If anything? Having friends over to play was always more fun. :) That is true... after a certain time they stop giving security updates. Understandable since it is so old, but it does put people more at risk. I think they should keep the updates longer for cellphones though, so that you are not "forced" to a buy a new one even if the one you got still works.

The first one is always the most exciting since you have no clue what to expect. I guess like most years I am going to have to do the math eventually to see if have the time to start a vial, before starting a long one that will last after the survival has ended. :P I just started grounded today. :D

I certainly never used our Atari for anything else! And yeah I've never understood why Android phones in particular only get quite a short time of updates - I mean the phones still work long after that, so surely they could just keep them supplied with updates??

If each stage is 8 hours, and you started grounded at 9:40am Subeta time today, then that's 7 more stages to go, so 56 hours until it's complete.... that'd be 5pm Subeta time on Monday. The vial is only four stages, so that'd be 24 hours (as the first stage is immediate), which would take you to 5pm Subeta time on Tuesday.... Survival finishes at the end of the day on Wednesday, so as long as you start the vial before too late in the day on Tuesday (allowing for you not being awake when this strain finishes on Monday :P), then that'd give you time to start a final one before it ends on Weds ;)

Same for my commodore 64. Not much it could do really. It was not like we could use it for homework or anything.

iPhones gets upgrades for longer, but even that is only 5 years if I remember correctly. My iPhones have lasted a lot longer than that. ;) Surely it can't be good for the environment to keep upgrading our phones that often.

we had a word processor when I was in senior school, so I used that for typing up my homework essays! ;) 5 years is a lot better than Android, but it's still not really all that long considering how much the iPhone costs in the first place o.O

I think some of the stages (certainly for this one I'm on now) look so similar to others, I didn't feel it'd changed much at all for ages.... I think the whole site was pretty slow this morning though, so maybe it's just the usual 'survival lag' making everything take that bit longer

For me it was all handwritten assignments until 10th grade or so, when we actually had computers at school we could use and printers. :P :nods: iPhones are always priced high, no matter which model you get, unlike Samsung and other brands. I still love my apple products though. :P I feel like a clutch when I have to help my mom with her android phone!

I know I was stuck on stage one for a really long time, since it is very different from stage 2. But it has progressed nicely now while I have been offline, so it seems like the lag is better now. :)

that was about the same timescale for me - once we had coursework essays to do towards our exams, then it was preferred to have it typed up (although we couldn't use the school computers to achieve it). We had school computers all the time I was there (from age 11 onwards), but they were only used for some maths lessons (there were a few maths games on there) or IT lessons o.O

It's definitely not easy to swap between apple and android!

I don't even touched a computer at school during elementary (1-9 grade). o-o Now kids get chromebooks or iPads from their school. I guess it made sense if you were able to use educational games for math. I ended up really wanting to learn how to use a computer, so that is why I used my savings to buy one for myself. lol During 10th grade we had computer lessons where we learned how to type and whatnot. And you could choose more advanced IT classes as an elective. Turned out I was really bad at anything resembling coding, so that was not a great choice for me.

It does look like the lag is better. This one should finish today some time. :D More than enough time for a vial and one long after that.

I saw a photo of K playing an iPad game when he was about 5 years old.... which seems crazy to me! :P You had a lot more computer lessons than I did - over here they decided that if you were brainy then you wouldn't need computer lessons, so we had French classes while the rest of the year group learnt computing o.O Although I don't think they ever did anything like programming or coding.

Apple sure knows to make products that are user friendly. Even younger kids than that can use them. I guess the pressing button on the screen makes it intuitive.

That is so strange. Even if you are a good student, that doesn't mean you know everything without being taught. o_O At least they gave you useful lessons when you got French I guess. We were never grouped into brainy kids and less brainy kids, typical of our school system. :)

I'm on Lobster Face at the moment, and possibly I'll get the chance to start a final one tomorrow, but I'm not too sure how many stages are left on this one (SubetaLodge only have 7 stages listed, but the others for the same year have 8 stages, so I can't be certain if I've got 3 or 4 left!)
