No class today, on account of online technical problems. Zo, our instructor suggested the reading for an assignment. Mine halfway on this, but the topics are basic knowledge on universal concepts. Chapter 2 for both classroom and shop are nest in mine queue, but will be postponed for tomorrow morning.
Ooh, mine bought a vacuum sealer today, zo mine can start packing some fruit to freeze. Mine harvest is still underway, much fruit to put to chill. Mine will need several days to peel, and deseed , and pack.
Mine may be a little ambitious, but mine also bought some rewards for passing this course. A Lego Lamborghini Countach, and a Transformers Legacy Scourge figure. Not only are they prizes, but an incentive to want to pass.
Mine look forward to asking if mine can bring the transmission of the Ford camper, it's mine understanding thses kind have as different arrangement of gears for higher loads. Just have to disconnect it from the driveshaft, remove it from the chassis, and clean it.
Thank you@ wanted to go for a circus theme. Thinking of making an autumn one next

Well I did not know that, and I will remember that. Thanks

Something troubles mine... more like someone. A young lady in mine congregation goes out of her way to greet mine, and tries to send mine off after the service ends. Only when mine go in person does she do this.
Mine believe it's just a courtesy, nothing else.
What's wrong with people...
Sydney : I love beets, turnips, rutabagas, parsnips...all root vegetables for that matter. Weldon doesn't boil them, he bakes them, it makes them so much more interesting and flavorful baked. For baked beets he quarters small ones, tosses them in a little olive oil, salt and pepper. He spreads them out in a casserole and roasts them for 20 minutes before he stirs them. To serve, he dresses them with blood orange oil. The roasting brings out the natural sugars.
IN the Fresno area, there are three varieties of lentils that are readily available, the standard "dark" ones, the green ones and the orange ones. What is nearly impossible to get readily is lamb. It goes for nearly $12 a pound and it comes from Australia. A leg of lamb for Easter was $80. Americans don't eat lamb, they are beef eaters. Goat is easier to get than lamb.
He makes a hearty stew with root veggies, whatever he has, rutabagas, parsnips, carrots, potatoes...he starts with a rich stock and slow cooks the rough chopped veggies for an hour or two. Thyme, oregano, salt pepper, bay (our bay was paw-picked by Welly and me in Monterey last year.) He adds sautéed stew meat, either fowl or red meat and lets that cook down for another hour. Finally, he thickens with a roux, adds corn cobbettes and tops with dumplings. Holy Moly that is a meal that will stick to the ribs of your neighbors in the next county its so good! Don't eat the bay leaves.
I wish he was making that today, but he's on a Southwest kick this week. He's making chili con carne for dinner this evening. The beans have been cooking all night long on the back burner and he added the meat this noon. It has to "meld" as he says. I can hardly keep my paws out of it. He'll serve it with corn bread. If he insists, I'll also eat salad....(sigh) The corn bread would make a meal in of itself with butter, honey, or jam. (I prefer the orange honey that comes from our bees in the orchard).
This morning he made biscuits and sausage gravy. I don't know how he gets his biscuits so "crunchy" on the outside and so soft and flakey on the inside, but they were perfect paw-made buttermilk biscuits made form scratch. And fast! From start to finish, breakfast took only a half an hour for him to put together, and that included coffee and fluffy scrambled eggs that would make Julia Child proud.
If you want his recipe, I can ask him for it.
: My garden is a kitchen garden and I grow some of the spices and veggies I prefer to eat in our home. Healer's Hall Garden is really a very large, almost industrial-sized plantation. We grow everything we need to keep a healing facility running. We've been blessed with adequate water despite the drought and heat.
I am sure you could get lamb, just search the internet for your area or call a local butcher shop they may know of a place or person that sells it.
awwww i couldnt get myself to eat lamb i dont think...but i have had Hassenpfeffer before so..that is rabbit and it tastes like chicken so chicken it is ! Veal is another toughy that i dont think i could eat. BUT BRATWORST or Italian Sausages YUM!!!

big long post about sending my children away to apprentice school
Next week is going to be really busy. I have 22 children, my last litter of 7 was birthed in November. But now it's time for this litter to begin their "official training" for a career and Weldon and I will be sending each of them away to Apprenticeship Candidacy School ( Glen Meadow Home ). It's what all parents of Glen Meadow do once their offspring are weaned and are capable of fending for themselves. Each of my offspring passed their entrance exams (they have to know their letters and figures) two weeks ago and were selected for the craft hall where they will eventually receive their life skill education.
Pepper, the oldest female of the litter will be training in the Mechanic's Guild under the watchful eye of Captain Lizzi Leastweasel, who invented Weldon's flying machine.
Pauli, the next oldest female will eventually train with the Weaver's Guild. She'll learn how to set up a loom first before she later learns how to do any actual weaving.
Tansi, the third female is staying home, here at Healer's Hall and will be trained by Mrs. Brenda Wheezle, my second in command in charge of apprentices. She will be in a very large class of 24 Healer Apprentices, our largest class ever.
Ziggi, the fourth child, our smallest male, was selected by my brother, Master of Lore, History and Parliamentary Policy, Friedrich Von Steuben, to train in document preservation (a rapidly growing discipline).
Quinci, our fifth child of the litter, the other boy, has been selected by Brigadier General Mitch Leastweasel, (Weldon's Brigadier), to train as a Watcher.
Dori, the sixth in the litter, another girl, is going to train in the newly formed Watercraft Guild, where they not only make boats, but operate them as a new division of the Watcher Corps.
Merti, the last little female, caused quite a sensation during the selection meetings which caused a serious row among the Masters who fought to chose her for their craft halls. In the end, and after much hissing and growling, Merti was chosen by the Master of the Civil Engineer's Guild because of her high placement in her maths abilities.
Weldon and I will escort our seven offspring across Glen Meadow on foot (even though I have the airship at my command) as is the tradition. It takes two days to cross the Meadow, and we will camp out, forage for food and fend for ourselves as our ancestors did as part of the ritual of "pushing the offspring out of the nest." (so to speak) For many parents, it is the last they ever see of their children, as many of them start their own families after their training.
And so, life continues in Glen Meadow as it has for ... well...um. I don't know how long this tradition has been going on, really. They didn't include that fact in my training when I went to Glen Meadow Home. Come to think of it, as Queen, I really should know this stuff. You know, I didn't get a paw-book on how to be Queen when I was named Queen, I just got a big Jewel and that made me Queen. I bet Friedrich doesn't even know the answer.
What was the question? Whew!
, I made a Ticket and they helped. :) Thank you dear :hugs:
