After months of anticipation, we are pleased to announce the relaunch of the Custom Wearable system! This update comes with SO MANY new features and improvements to make both buying and creating CWs easier and more accessible than ever! Some highlights include:

  • NEW! Official CW Item Directory! There is now a Custom Wearables directory that includes everything you need to know about a CW! Have a favorite item? You can search for it to see if it is available in their shop. Curious if an item is retired or sold out? The directory will let you know! Just feel like browsing through the gorgeous wears to fill your wishlist? Then this is the place for you! In addition, if you are a CW releaser, you can add public releaser notes to the directory listings for your own items!
  • CW Shops Improvements! Visit the CW Shops to see newly released items as well as manage your own! Take a look through your new CW Warehouse - your new storage space for items that are not retired but not in your shop - and see if there is anything you want to get back on the market. You can use the Warehouse for temporary retirements as well! When managing your shop, use the new search filters to look through your own items and find that specific one you need to make edits to! Want to invite specific users to look at an item? Invite them directly from your shop and they can pick up the item - no additional steps (and no password) required!
  • CW Submission MAJOR Revamp! Ready to submit an item? Head to the Releaser’s Hub where it is now easier than ever to get your items in the queue! Pricing categories have been simplified and made cheaper, AND you are only required to pay for your own copy of the item at submission time, dramatically lowering the submission cost.
  • Other CW Submission Quality-of-Life Improvements! When submitting, you can optionally choose to also pay for an artist copy at half price (!!) which will be sent to the artist directly upon approval! There is no more complicated recolor-enabling process; if you're submitting a recolor, just type the item name of your original color in the submission form! And when you resubmit for a denial, you can resubmit directly from your Denial History page, which will pre-fill the submission form with (most of the) values from your previous submission.
AND MORE!! If you're already familiar with CWs, we have put together an in-depth transition guide that will walk you through all the new features, additions, quality-of-life updates, and important changes to note. We strongly advise to review this prior to submitting any items so you can become familiar with the changes.

Are you new to custom wearables? Don’t worry, we have you covered too! Check out the [link=https://new.subeta.net/cws/help/intro]Introduction to CWs[/link] guide to help you understand the basics before getting started.

At first glance, everything is going to look very, very different. This is because nearly everything Custom Wearable related, including submissions, shops, and the directory are now part of Subeta v2. (More on this from the programmers below!) However, we have put together tools to help you adapt and adjust to the changes. In addition to the two new guides linked above, we also have:

  • Question about which category to submit your CW under? Ask here! - In this topic, and a panel of volunteers will help answer any questions about which new category to submit your item under if you are not sure!

  • The Official Custom Wearables FAQ - A new and extensive Official CW FAQ, which should answer everything else. And if it doesn't? We specifically made this a forum topic instead of a webpage so that you could post further questions on it :) so ask away and we'll do our best to help!

Whew! We hope you are as excited to try the new system out as we are to finally share it with you. To give back to the CW community, we're adding two new little "bonuses" for both buyers and releasers:

  1. Buy any CW from a CW shop in the new system to earn the freshly minted Custom Made achievement! The prize is a spiffy new forum title: "___ is custom made"

  2. We also want to say THANK YOU to all past, present, and future CW releasers! As a special bonus, you will now get a free CW voucher with your every 10th approval (excluding recolors). As a reminder, CW vouchers can be redeemed for any item priced at 700 CSC or less in CW Shops.

Finally: We have worked extremely hard to provide the best chance for a smooth and bug-free transition. That said, we understand unexpected issues can still occur. Please read the programmer post below for bug report guidelines and some info about Subeta V2. If you are viewing this on the news post, click to go to the announcement topic, and it will be the second post on the thread.

Thank you, and enjoy the new-and-improved Custom Wearable system!!!

Programmer here! Please read this post for guidelines on where and how to report glitches, as well as give feedback/questions about Subeta v2. Reports that do not follow these guidelines, or are posted in the wrong place, may be overlooked or receive a delayed staff response!

Functionality Glitches and Errors

IMPORTANT: If you encounter an exploitable glitch, do NOT post about it on any public place including this thread. File a ticket to let us know instead. Thank you!

If you are encountering a problem using the new CW pages: oh no! We are here to help. First, try the following steps which may resolve your problem:

  • Clear your browser cache, and try logging out and logging back in.
  • Try disabling adblock, any user scripts, and browser extensions just to rule out that none of these are causing the problem.
  • Check your browser privacy settings and make sure requests and cookies from *.subeta.net are whitelisted. You must allow subeta.net, sapi.subeta.net, and new.subeta.net domains.

If you are still experiencing a problem, please post on this thread with the following information:

  • Describe the problem. Please be as descriptive as possible and as specific as possible. If it is happening on a specific page, include the exact page URL; you can copy and paste this from the address bar.
  • Is there a way to trigger this problem? If so, describe a step-by-step guide to how to trigger it. If not, please try and describe what you were doing when the error happened, again being as exact as possible.
  • Include your browser and device information: we need the browser + version, operating system + version, and device (mobile, tablet, laptop..?)

There is no need to ping anyone; we will be lurking this thread to check for reports. Once this topic is locked, further bug reports will be taken in the bug report forums as usual. :)

Inaccurate CW Information

Custom Wearable Data - All data created on the new system will be complete and accurate. Data migrated over from the previous system may have missing fields and inaccuracies, because this data did not exist in the previous system. In particular, denial history is likely to be inaccurate.

Older CW releases may be missing fields such as artist or pricing category; the CW system has been around since 2011, and those fields did not always exist, and were not always required. This is not a glitch in the data migration; the missing info simply did not exist on the previous system either.

All CWs and submission history have had their pricing category updated to a "best guess" for the corresponding new pricing category. We will not be manually fixing these, sorry, so there is no need to report these. If you are making a new submission, or submitting a recolor, for an item with an incorrect pricing category, please choose the correct category for your new submission.

Denial History - We had to work with what denial information we could find. Denials migrated over from the previous system may have inaccurate submission attempt numbers and may be missing denial reasons and denial notes. We have dramatically upgraded how denials are handled in our code, so you will have much fuller and nicer information moving forward!

You are now required to link a previous submission when you are resubmitting for a denial. However, we understand the linking may not work correctly for denials migrated from the previous system. If the system is not letting you link the denial correctly, leave the "resubmission" box unchecked and let the admins know in your submission notes what the previous denial was and that you couldn't link it because of a problem with the submission form.

CW Shops Data - Some items are labeled a little differently in the new system. To reduce confusion, here is what you need to know:

  1. Any items that you did not permanently retire and also did not move to shop will now be in your Warehouse and unpriced. These would be items that you were slotting for that had unlimited batches or did not fill all batches yet.
  2. Any items that were limited-batch and all batches were filled, are now marked as permanently retired.
  3. Any items that were in your CW shop but had the amount set to 0 will now be labelled as "Out of Stock".

Finally, any pending shop invites from the previously system unfortunately could not be carried over; you will need to send new shop invites out.

If you notice any other inaccuracies aside from these, please post on this topic if it is an error with public information, such as information shown in the CW directory. If it is an error with private information, please file a ticket for further assistance.

On Subeta V2

Subeta V2 refers to all of the webpages on new.subeta.net, which at time of writing includes the wardrobe, cash shop subscriptions, avatar border cosmetics, and now the new custom wearables system! We are going to be gradually moving the website over to V2 piece by piece.

V2 is a massive work-in-progress, so what you see now is not at all final. The site layout, item hovers, sCode, etc are all going to see massive additions and upgrades over the next few months, so please don't be alarmed that some things are "missing" from them for now. For example, the item hovers on v2 have very little information in them at the moment; this is not at all their final form!

Eventually, V2 will replace the current website; however, there is no need for anxiety, as this update is FAR from imminent - and there will be plenty of opportunities to voice your feedback and concerns before that happens!

If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions about Subeta V2, we have a special subforum just for that! Please check out the Subeta V2 suggestion subforum and make sure to read the stickied post for guidelines and info. Please note that, unfortunately, we are likely to overlook v2 feedback/suggestions not posted in this forum - so make sure you post in the right place to ensure that we see it! Thank you!

Suggestions and Other Feedback

We welcome your feedback as always! We would like you to know that we already have several updates and improvements planned for the CW system following this initial release - many based on prior user suggestions, so your suggestion may already be planned to happen! We had initially planned even more cool things than we are releasing today, but we rescheduled a lot of things for after this initial release, so that we could bring the new system to you sooner. Please look forward to exciting future updates. <3

We are planning to add a proper search page for CW shops - including a wishlist search! That is one of the features we had to shelve because we did not want to delay today's release, but it's in the works <3

The links should work now for both!

Great question - and a good one to ask on the FAQ topic: The Official Custom Wearables FAQ :)

The prices for things in CW shops are not set by the system or by Subeta staff, they are set manually by the CW shop owner. So the prices will be lowered for an item only if the shop owner chooses to do so.

That said, we are expecting to see lower prices at least for CWs approved after this change, due to the lowered submission fee and lowered cost requirement. These pricing changes enable CW releasers to lower prices where they couldn't prior. Many people in the CW community have wanted to lower prices and simply could not afford to lower them if they wanted to make back the cost of submission. That will no longer be an issue we hope!

The lag right now is just an inevitable consequence of everybody trying to load and do things at the same time. It is unfortunate, but it will normally not be like this - normally, people just submit when they have submissions and we don't have everyone trying to do it in the same hour. Remember that a lot of people have been waiting for this day and have been sitting on dozens of submissions. If it is really bothering you, I suggest sitting it out for the rest of today and checking on it later in the week when this initial influx of traffic has died down. :)

As for your report: Capped items definitely should show up - that has nothing to do with locked or availability status. If a capped item is in a shop and Unpriced items I will look into filtering out correctly. They are showing up now because technically they are unlocked, and the filter is literally checking for items that are in shops and unlocked. Technically, unpriced items are still unlocked and inside of the shop.

Hey everyone! We anticipated some lag on release day. This is to some degree inevitable. Please rest assured that it will not lag like this normally; it is only lagging tonight because traffic is unusually high right now.

That said, we have been watching and taking measures to mitigate it since we made this announcement. has been making various adjustments and has just brought up more server resources to help with the load tonight. We hope that helps, and we will continue to monitor and tweak as needed tonight and over the next few days :)

Note: If you've accidentally made any duplicate submissions, remember you can cancel the duplicates from your Pending Submissions page, which will also refund you the submission fee.

Whoops! We focused so much on making it work on V2, I guess I forgot to change it out on the main site! Working on that now.

I've adjusted the filter to only show priced items when you sort by locked/unlocked :)

Hey everyone! Just poking my head in as the 👨🏼‍💻 server person. We found out tonight that one of our new components, didn't really like being put under incredible pressure. We've been hard at work building out "Subeta V2", the site you see on new.subeta.net. The item hovers were one of the components built for this launch, part of the foundational work to build a more interactive and "smart" Subeta.

When it loaded the page, it sent off a request for each individual item to our servers, which would then send back the details on that item and your browser would cache it. When everyone loaded the page at once, it fired off tens of thousands of requests at our server. Usually we could have waited a few minutes for this to resolve on its own, and first failures start to build an item cache and then requests start to make their way through. But we were foiled by our own future-proofing! So that requests don't just fail on the new Subeta and vanish into the ether, we retry in the background until the request is successful. So all of those item requests didn't just fail and then go away, they kept trying to get the item information over, and over. You can see how that would create a cycle to bring down our servers :(. While this was happening, I was spinning up new servers and focusing on that, thinking this was a purely horizontal scaling issue, but it wasn't :(

Fortunately, we already grab all of the item details with the information on the page itself (in most cases) so we just needed to allow the component to feed in that pre-fetched information, and if it doesn't get that then request it from the server. You can see already that the fix sped up the new site immediately, and now we have the benefit of all of these features to keep the site stable moving forward. Thanks for your patience while we launch new things like this!

I think your issues were due to the lag, which has now resolved (see his post above!!) Could you please check if you are still having these problems now, and let me know :)

Oh no! Did your shop/category descriptions get cut off? The good news is that the previous description data is still there fully, so we can increase the character limit and restore cut-off descriptions if so. If the problem might be more widespread, I can find which shops previously had longer descriptions and make sure it is fixed for everyone.

However, super long descriptions will make your shop hard to browse, since people would have to do a lot of scrolling to get to the actual items! I would recommend perhaps moving that information to a forum post in a private forum group you own, if you have one.

That is not supposed to happen. Any items that had copies left over should continue to be available in the new system! We tested with several limited-batch items and did not have any issues with inaccurate information, so I'm sorry to hear this happened to you anyway. Could you please list which items you're having this issue with, and I will take a look. If the information is not accurate, I will make sure it is fixed for your item and any others that may have been affected by the same glitch. :)

Thanks for letting us know! We are working on a fix.

[edit] So far, we've determined that it is correctly toggling the item on your wishlist, but it is just not updating the webpage with any feedback to let you know it worked. We've figured out why that is, and the fix will take a little bit of work but we are doing it :)

Thank you! They should all be fixed now, and they are also fixed for everybody else's items who were affected.

The old data for these items was never deleted, so it is still there to reference. Also, the data migrations were extensively logged, so we have all our bases covered in the case of inaccurate information like you discovered. Please rest assured we will have no issue restoring the accurate information - we've taken a lot of precautions this time against that! If you see any other inaccurate information, please let me know. Thanks again for pointing this out :)

Thank you! I confirmed this is only a display error. It will not actually work if you try to check it and save the changes (thank goodness haha) I've just deployed a fix!

(If you might've noticed it was fixed a few minutes ago and then was unfixed, well, I had fixed it and then reverted my fix because I thought my fix was broken, but my fix was actually not broken, so I reverted the revert. It has been a long day.)

As for the emoji: yes, we can fix that and they will be back soon! In the meantime, you can work around it by swapping it with the actual Unicode character, and that should work.

sCode is not supported in releaser notes. They are meant to be short, plain text notes only.

We are looking into why the user and userid sCodes stopped working. They were working and tested prior to release. We'll get to the bottom of it - thanks for the report!

The base price means you earn no profit if you sell it at that. You earn whatever is above the base price. It's in the transition guide. (sorry everyone, I was at work all day and I'm slowly catching up !)
