I'm not going to ping Ale for reasons, but before we fell out I was a member of her server.

Ale has given away so many of her own items through server giveaways that it would be freaking impossible for her to remember who got what from her in what way when, so people really need to stop bugging her about that.

I used to have .

I can't remember if I slotted on them, got an invite, got them in a giveaway or trade, but it doesn't matter because I sold them long ago.

It is entirely possible that one of the users who lost them bought that CW from me, in which case Ale would certainly not know about it, and the user who lost the strands would almost certainly not remember whose usershop they bought them from.

But if you look at the community spreadsheet we made, a whole lot of people are missing the item.

There has been some speculation going around about why some items were deleted from everyone's wardrobes, but others were not. Anecdotally, people who don't use the new wardrobe, or don't use it unless they need to use limb sliders, have reported fewer losses. Perhaps some items were only deleted from new wardrobe users?

I can't tell anyone on staff how that happened, because I'm not a coder; it's your job to figure that out.

How about we agree to not take it personally if you ask us questions about how people got stuff and accept that you are trying to fix the glitch, and you guys (staff) agree to accept that it is literally impossible for us to know where everyone who has our items got them from.

If we remember a specific transaction we'll tell you.

But the answer to the question: did you ever gift or trade (item) is probably always going to be yes unless it's a private. And we probably don't remember who to. You would have better luck searching whatever gift center or trade records exist.

I said you guys could ask Lyonesse about my missing item because I am pretty sure she does remember me, but she and I had conversations about that series of items regarding dark base versions and dark base users. I wouldn't expect her to know everyone who bought that series of items.

I am probably going to start keeping better records of trades and gifts and giveaways, but until now, you gotta understand that it never occurred to me that:

a) this information wasn't being recorded somewhere on the back end of your database programming, even if it doesn't show up in our accounts after 30 days/50 sales; and

b) there would not be accurate backups.

I have intentionally not kept close accounts of who I gifted what to, in the past, because gift, trade or sale, once it leaves my hands it is no longer mine, and not everyone can even remember where they got things. I've got enough to be upset about in the world right now without adding "whether people like my gifts enough to keep them forever" to that list, you know?

the reason people are upset is because we pay real money to get cws I myself have spent way more than I want to admit for myself and others through bdays and xmas its why it bothers so much people and artists pay to put items on site and take the time to draw these items and some make privates for their friends which they pay out of pocket for. :(

I am just waiting on the report form for now, staff is still working on it. I trust will update us with where things are going and what's happening he had to come out sooner rather than later but I just have to wait at this point to see where things go.

Someone please give me ❤️❤️❤️❤️ will offer well!

We've started restoring items to accounts. Some of you may have received sidebar alerts; however, we've been trying to alert in batches instead of alerting for every single item restored, so that we don't spam you. You can check this page to see if anything has been re-added to your account so far.

This restoration process has only just begun, so you may see more items show up over time. Please don't be alarmed if there aren't many items on that page for you yet.

We are basing this on cross-referencing several sets of data: our November backup, various logs, and user-volunteered information. That said, for some items we aren't able to verify with 100% certainty if it was lost. In these cases, we chose to err on the side of getting you your items back; that is, we are choosing to re-add the item into your wardrobe even if we were only 70% or 80% certain about if you had it.

You will NOT be punished for any false positives.

We understand there are certain items where a false positive could cause issues: for example, custom clothing items intentionally limited by the releaser. If we become aware of these cases, we may "undo" it by removing the erroneously restored item, but again no one will be punished for what they do with a false positive.

Since Subeta does not officially track CW "status" (private, public, etc), we unfortunately must rely on users to tell us if these false positives occur. Again, we understand you shouldn't have to deal with this because of OUR mistake. We really messed up here, and the onus shouldn't be on you to fix it, in any way. We're currently discussing how we'd best take these kinds of reports should it come up, and are open to hearing what the community would want us to do as well.

of course I understand you, because I spent a lot myself and it was great to get the gift card, but considering what 1 piece costs alone, well ... but in the end it's a game, mistakes happen and of course that's annoying , but do you want to drive yourself crazy now and try to remember every day which part you had or still have? ok, i will revise my question; we have all the time in the world right now ... i try to make the best of it, unfortunately i am not one of those who can carelessly go in with their credit card, so it is sad for me for every part i have lost, but i have in moment completely different worries ...

This is happening much faster than expected which is very nice - I appreciate staff owning up to their mistakes here, appreciate them working very hard to fix it, and trying to offer some additional compensation for the stress and everything else.

I get being angry and frustrated - I was and still am to some extent, but I appreciate wholeheartedly how much work they've been doing to fix that and acknowledge that they made errors without trying to provide excuses - especially since this particular thread went up and replaced the previous one.

I wouldn't remove any items from anyone tbh.

Once someone sells a limited item, there's nothing stopping the person who buys it from reselling/pawning/trading it or giving it away.

It is entirely likely that someone who owns one or two private CWs that were not sold to them personally did come by them honestly in a usershop, donation centre, pawnshop, etc. If someone turns up with 50 of these items then there's cause for concern.

But given that there's people who make fandom privates, and either make the whole series private, or make the item that most closely corresponds to the original private--when these turn up in pawnshops, usershops, and the donation centre, people buy/take them, and the buyer/donee shouldn't be penalised for that.

Items are being restored directly to Wardrobe? Uh oh, maybe?

Many of the items showing on my restored list are items that I probably have already quite accidentally re-added to my Wardrobe. I automatically use the quickstock feature to wardrobe when I am done questing. I don't even look.

Some stuff I also automatically add if a quest asks for it and I don't have it. I will do an Account Search and go get all the colors, because if the item is cheap enough that it shows up in a quest the rest of them might be cheap enough to get 'just because'. I am so used to doing this I did it a few times and didn't realize later maybe I already had these items just not right now.

Do I now have two of some of these in there?

Thank you for this open and forthright update.

I will state that I have gotten copies of private items by buying form the pawn shop before. I REALLY like those items and only found out after owning them that they were private before someone abandoned the items to the pawn shop.

Checking out wardrobe. Stupid question: Do I manually have to remove ALL the Lumi ornaments from my wardrobe. There are pages and pages of ornaments in there. Thanks for your answers. We need a check all box to send items to inventory.

Thank you very much, and the team behind fixing this mistake! Glad you have the information needed to restore the items and how you are handling this.

Just... seriously take this whole situation as a learning opportunity (like Keith suggested on the original thread). This site may not be the biggest, but you still have many users who support this site despite the many problems it had the last years. Another one like this might cost you those very same loyal souls. Have some checks and systems in place and by God, better communication inside the team, at least! You owe that not only to your users, but especially for the SubetaTeam who rely on the site for an income.

Just to give some perspective as to why some users (including me!) are/were so angry: this isn’t the first issue that has popped up recently. The CW community has been riddled with problems, the site has dealt with monstrous amounts of lag, etc. I know on my part that it’s mostly frustration due to to feeling that staff isn’t listening - we were all hella surprised recently when we finally got some feedback from on CW issues that had been a problem for months, if not years. I don’t think it’s quite fair to presume anything of us who are feeling more upset, since you don’t know our background or reasoning. I don’t know you by sight or by UN, so maybe I’m just pulling this from nowhere (and I apologize if I am) but if you’re not familiar with any of these other problems we’ve encountered, maybe it’s not your place to suppose information about other users.

Have a nice evening/day! I also really like your avatar, id def appreciate the outfit code (prob by comment is best) if that’d be ok with you

I agree tbh. Unless the user who received the item(s) reports them as items they shouldn't own, or an item had literally one copy onsite previously and is therefore something the creator can guarantee the other person shouldn't own, then there are too many variables that could cause someone who "shouldn't" own a private CW to own one, even before this glitch happened.

There's a window for that kind of thing to be taken advantage of, but I personally feel it's worth that risk as long as people who actually lost valuable items are able to get ethem returned

it's extremely comforting about no punishment for false positives - there are a few items i'm uncertain about, and i feel way more comfortable putting them on the list to be checked out now. previously, i was going to just forgo them and assume i'd sold/gifted them instead rather than risk it.

i also appreciate the willingness to remove items - i think it won't be/shouldn't be necessary in most cases since subeta doesn't acknowledge user-enforced item rules and the like, but i can think of an item right off the top of my head that a friend had done for their pet that passed away that is extremely sentimental. special stuff like that would be really appreciated to be kept within who was meant to have it.
