I'm here now to look into your report now. Since you've also made a ticket, let's continue this there. (I'm working with the UA who has your ticket.)

Yeah, but the surprise maintenance was right in the middle of an autopricing 😢 How about newsflash when that is going to happen with a 5 minute warning or something? Time to finish the task on hand?

I think there was a misunderstanding here. It wasn't possible for us to give a warning before the site went down yesterday because no one foresaw it. The error happened unexpectedly, crashed the website, and maintenance was required to bring the site back up. When we're able to give a warning, we always do (for example, we always make news posts when we schedule downtime)

Ok, let me know what you need, I have a list with all the items I had there, 23 pages...And if I got it correctly, I should go on here, not on the ticket?

No, I meant let's continue in your ticket. You can put the information you have there there. It is just to help us resolve things more quickly and it will help us understand what happened. I'll grab your ticket in a bit since the UA who has it is off for the day. <3

I know you're feeling really worried right now, so I just wanna reassure you real quick that it will be okay! I think the data is stuck in limbo (not lost), but we have it safely backed up either way. So worst case scenario we can get it back from the backups. I hope this can give you some peace of mind while I look into it!

How to tell if you need to do something.

[h2]Do you have shop/gallery listed on the first dropdown on this page? Do you still have shop/gallery on this page?[/h2]

If YES:

-You need to move those items to a safe place & delete the shop by ~April 2020. -You can use the Move-To-Vault tool to safely & easily move them to your vault. -No, they cannot be instantly moved to new shops instead. For reasons why, see here. -It might take some time. Ex: "a legacy shop with over 22,200 unique items finished transferring in about 30 minutes." (see [ url=https://subeta.net/forums.php/gotopost/64252155]here[/url]) -(those shops have been retired for years now and are finally going to be removed.)

Some History Of This Change* [sub](*may no longer contain correct information, just if you're curious)[/sub] -04/08/16: Why New Shops -04/17/16: "You can no longer add items to old shops" & New User Shops LIVE For Everyone & Super Shop! and Hoarder! Achievements Retired -04/24/16: Old Shops Closed -04/25/16: Old Shops Still In Search -05/14/16: One Month Later

If NO:

-That means you're fine and don't have to do anything. This entire change does NOT affect you. -Go about your life! ❤️

The NEW SYSTEM shop/gallery are all on this page. Those are the current user shop/gallery and are ok to use! -Again, there are no problems if this is where your shop/gallery are! :D -(They have also been the only sort of shop/gallery that you can make since ~April 2016.)

You know, I get that legacy code is awful to work with. But my gallery represented almost ten years of effort and collecting on my part. Merging it into a vault that I've also curated into categories, and doing so by strewing the gallery items willy-nilly: that's such an unsatisfactory option. I have a family and a job that both entail greater responsibilities than when I started here in 2006, and I simply cannot redo the task of categorizing tens of thousands of items by hand.

How little does this site value the efforts and time of its legacy users?

HELP!!!!

The plan was to - let's start with an easy one - transfer all books from my gallery Warehouse to the corresponding vault category and all other items to the other.

If I go to my shop, I cannot choose a vault category, if I go to the tool, I cannot choose items from the shop!!!! I NEED order here!!!!

There are many more steps for my actual shop Boa's Treasure Cove! I wanted to sort those items in price batches.

Also in the future, if I put items into my vault, I cannot choose a category?! Also not, if I move it from inventory? Then I have to search for each item in the deeps of the vault and categorize it manually?

I am sorry, I don't have THAT kind of time to deal with items. It has become bad enough with having to quickstock all the extremely slow moving tiny new shops individually!!!!

Either, please let the vault categories appear in the (old) shops or the shop search options in the tool. If that is not possible, it would also help, if we could check all uncategorized items in the vault to put them into a category? That way we could get rid of the over 10.000 individual items already there, then put sorted legacy items into uncategorized vault and then shift them to their respective categories. A huge time intensive undertaking (since we can only deal with one page in legacy shops at a time), but somehow feasible. I mean we are talking tens of thousands (? no way to see it any longer?) of individual items!

...Just noticed, I can choose to move at least a full vault page to a category at once? I am just freaking out, scared to mess up things here...?

P.S.: My legacy shops, with exception of the overall recent downtime, have always worked well and super fast (and mine was in overall item quantity for years - when that info still existed) definitely better and faster than the new ones!

Oh its just a category you have in your vault. Sorry, I read the other post wrong then. I thought you meant you could see how many pages you have in an actual legacy shop.

================== EDIT

Im off to do One page at a time. It might take a while but its better than a hiccup that might occur with the page that moves it all.

Is there any way for staff to check how many items I had in my shop before it transferred? I had thousands of items and only 5 pages transferred into the new category in the vault. I don't know which items didn't transfer, but I would be reassured if I could tell how many there were.

There is still time to move your categories from the old legacy shop, one at a time. You could make a category the same name as the one you are moving from the legacy? Like move one category a day or something until April? I feel your pain though!

So I've thought a lot about this since it was first announced, and I have some things to say;

First off yes, I'm glad that something that's just been breaking without anyone touching it (and possibly also breaking other parts of the site) is getting retired. I'm glad it's being handled in a way that is taking into account the users as much as possible.

But you know what I hate? That non-legacy shops are limited in their capacity with no current way to increase them other than getting 2 more shops if you get a GA. The appeal to legacy shops is that they're virtually unlimited, so if you wanted to publicly display stuff you're proud of you could, but with current shops you can't do that. Even if you have 6 shops with a GA and they're all galleries (so you have no actual shop to sell things in) you still could only display a fraction of all the unique official items on the site, let alone if you have CW's and the like.

Again, I'm glad a broken piece of the site is getting removed. But for people who are proud of what they have and want a display showcase of some kind and were using the legacy shops for that you're taking away literally the only option they have without introducing something in kind. An option to either increase the storage space of a shop or get more shops in general per account should be available, not just a passing thought for 'maybe someday'. I can understand where increasing the storage space might not be a good idea because loading so many items at once might generate some problems, but at the same time vaults and wishlists are virtually unlimited and don't seem to have that problem so I'm sure it's possible.

tl;dr I'm okay with something broken that isn't cost-effective to maintain is being removed, I don't like that there seems to be no offered alternative for people who wanted the unlimited storage space of a legacy shop other than a very vague "maybe someday".

TL:DR; Every change isn't going to work for every person, (regardless of how long someone has played / how old they are / how their life is) but adapting and changing is still important, even when it's difficult. Otherwise, what are we even doing here?

Absolutely correct on that it was a lot to move and relocate items when they shifted to the new shops! I even had the "Super Shop! 45,000+ items & Hoarder! 20,000+ items achievements. Just so. many. items. ha. But, the old ones were apparently so poorly done that it was better to start from the ground up, instead of attempting to fix that particular code fire. That's why we haven't been able to do anything with them, other than remove items, for years now. [sub](don't even think that we could VIEW other people's old shops for about that time either? We can't show off what other people can't even see.)[/sub] To me, the it-was-new-years-ago-quick-stock alone was worth the change to the current shops. It's so useful~

As for the other bit, do you mean:

Users who have played for years? I've played longer than you (not as a brag or anything, just saying.) and moved my crazy amount of items around. It was a lot, but I used the tools available to me and spent some time to put items in my vault, sorted them into shop/gallery/pet/wardrobe/collection/battle stuff/etc. & sold off the rest. (it was totally not a top priority either, but I could only presume that the legacy shops wouldn't stay forever, as they were no longer being supported.)

Users who are of an older age? We're at least young adults, according to the little informal poll they did over a year ago (as opposed to this from 10+ years prior.) Going from that, the average user more than likely has a job and may also have a little nuclear family of their own. When this originally happened, I was in college, had/have a job, had/have a lot of life issues, and still have a very old cat & managed to deal completely with all of my old items.

I'd also dare to say that staff cares quite a bit about users, considering that they're still attempting to do something with this place, instead of letting things fall even more apart.

Maybe they can still do something else for you guys who are having these sorting issues? Even with this so far, they've made and tested that move page to try to make this smoother for people who still haven't dealt with their old shops, even if it's not perfect for ever single person. (pretty sure there was a similar bit of code before to help move items too.)

Staff also listened and allowed the old shops to remain "open" in the shop search until... I'd say a little while ago? (used to enjoy skimming the shop name URLs in results and buy out the item in as many legacy shops as I could. haha. But, haven't seen any old ushops pop up in ages.) That was pretty nice, considering that there were a lot of old, retired items that were mostly locked in those old ushops.

: I'm pleased that you've adjusted to these changes; I won't be able to. My offline life isn't up for discussion here; please accept that when I say that I cannot redo a task, I'm being sincere. A tool that moves gallery items into already-established vault categories will be disruptive for me to an extent that I cannot conscientiously allocate the time needed to resolve.

As a point of order, though, quick stock was available for legacy shops as well.

Sure, file a ticket and I can double-check for you. You and can be reassured that so far, we have not confirmed any problems with items being lost.

Unfortunately, making those shops unlimited at first was part of what made them so inefficient. Thus, while increasing the limits on current shops is not out of the question, they will always have limits. We would like users to use their vaults for unlimited item storage.

I understand what you are saying. I'd love to find a compromise with you given both of our limitations. Could you let me know where you'd like your items to go, and let's see what solutions are possible. EDIT: Same to :)

Thank you so much for your time, consideration and understanding, Bug. I think, if vault items on one page can be chosen and moved to a category all at once, I can first clear the "unsorted" vault items fairly easy and fast (it's over 50 pages), then move sorted items from legacy shops (I guess only page by page, but still...) to my vault and from there to a vault category. From what I understand, that should be feasible, thus slowly moving my legacy items to any new vault category of my liking, right?

It will take virtually forever, because I don't want to give up playing and sacrifice my online time to just clearing the shop, also batches take up to 30 minutes, if I understand correctly? I'm just afraid of the stress and pressure and scared I may not be able to finish by (end of?) April - 3 months? :-(

Ah yes, you're totally right. I should have been clear.

The new shops quickstock that made it different than the old shop's quickstock? That's what I like~ The changes. Where we can GA up & mass move items to whichever Collection without having to go through each item to check? It's great. ❤️ Armory qs is useful when you let a friend borrow your weapons too. Again, it's just faster. Feel like multiples of the same item didn't used to stack in qs either? But, hey! Maybe I'm wrong and all of those were still on the old one. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Other than that, hope Bug can help get your stuff sorted out for you~
