Anyway, I'm still a bit worried, but I don't think Amber would be mean enough to make my fear of me missing the beginning to due being a asleep a reality. Not on purpose anyway. I did mention that I was scared of that.

Now I'm just pissed off. The staff give us zero indication of when an event is going to start so this kind of stuff happens and Amber's random commentary of just the simple words "It's not" and then assuring us she's not joking is just absolutely......a lot of cuss words. Like cool, would have been nice to know that earlier. Would have been nice to know that not as something said randomly in an unrelated news post commentary that most people probably won't see.

Nobody knows when the event starts. :c

But when it does start, there's usually an FAQ in the forum (it'll open up when the event starts, you can't miss it) that explains how the event works. I suggest reading through that first. If you're interested in the zombie aspect and you still don't understand how it works from the FAQ, look for a biting directory and we can help you out.

Get a zombie strain! The event's all about zombies. You can also kiss users for candy hearts, which you use in L'amour's special shop. Once survival starts there's usually tons of threads with help and FAQs

i'll agree with looking for the staff's FAQ thread once survival starts, but you can put in your signature for starters so people can kiss you easily (you can do that here), and you can take a peek at all the virus strains over here at subetalodge so you can see if there's any you're really interested in getting!

Survival doesn't have a set start date, you kind of just have to go off of previous years' dates. We are still on time. Also, Amber's "trolling" is very traditional with the start of any holiday haha

Aww, bummer. :( Oh well, this gives me time to make more money for Zombie Den so I don't have to dip into my bank account to get everything I want~ I appreciate being told though, tbh, so that I'm not stalking the item directory for the next two hours going "maybe, just maybe!".

TBH I'd far rather see Survival start later than have a year where we don't have any strains. That one year was a sad year.

According to the information dug up back on page 5 both 2013 and 2014 didn't have new strains released. I wasn't here for those, but given that in 2012 the event went on for 34 days due to having a crap ton of plot going on I'm not surprised they had two years of no new strains before starting it up again in 2015.

I don't care so much about when it starts so much as the utter lack of communication from the staff about it. I've literally never been on a site that hasn't given some kind of announcement about a day and time any large site event is going to start so this is both boggling and frustrating.

I'm also not sure why that kind of trolling is just accepted? It's mean and very unprofessional for site staff honestly.

If I recall correctly, it was after the cure was found. No new zombie strains that year. And then, the year after that, Bubbles offered quests that gave the temporary strain vials, which had 4 stages, and then the HA started reverting back to normal.

Luckily the VIP was introduced, and since then we get new strains every year

There were kissing threads. And items in L'amour's shop. I remember I was so disappointed there were no strains I made a thread where we basically attempted avatar-progressing our own "zombie strains" just to have something to do.

I want to say in 2015 there were the temporary bottle strains, but I might be misremembering. I thought it was only one year of strain drought.

Starting the site in 2012 spoiled me. That was a great Pandemic. sighs happily

Given that the holiday schedule says it begins in the middle of February, and given the history of past Pandemic starts, it's safe to say that it never starts on the same day every year, unlike Lumi. The only reason Amber said anything was because people asked directly about it, so while I get the frustration, I'm not sure I share the conviction they should have told us about a delay. Technically, there's no delay as there's no specified start.

I think my first Survival was the first year they became skins in the wardrobe (maybe 2015, because I think 2014 was the vial strains). Was 2012 the organ collecting or...?

But there are multiple pages that give you a time frame of when the holiday starts? Sometimes it takes longer to get art/items done for the event so it can't always start the same time each year, hence the time frame instead of a set date. Staff isn't doing it on purpose.

Also I put the word trolling in quotes because it's harmless. If staff was like "hey survival starts tomorrow" and then like "lol jk fooled you" then yeah that would be shitty. Amber just likes to tease us because so many people are like WHEN IS IT STARTING??! on every news post.

this is how it goes for every site event, and is basically the reason we have "mid-month" listed in the schedule instead of "x day." (the other part being, if people know exactly WHEN to start refreshing the news post for the event, the site will probably melt down and cry.)

when's survival? now? no? when's survival? SURVIVAL HAPPENS when's the masquerade? now? no? when's the masquerade? MASQUERADE HAPPENS when's vesnali? now? no? when's vesnali? VESNALI HAPPENS and every one of these will get a lot of news posts spooking people into thinking (event) has started. personally, i think that's fun. i get that people don't, though.

the other thing is, you can just... check in on the event shops or the directory every once in a while leading up to the event's start. i'm used to checking in during my lunch -- if the shop isn't down/no items have been added, i'm clear to chill and go do something else.

The skins became part of the wardrobe after 2015, or at least well after that Pandemic, because I remember being sad I couldn't keep mine forever.

2012 was when the Underground came into being, and Ecks tried to overthrow Skitters, and anybody who visited the bakery shop for any reason (and I mean ANYBODY) who wasn't already infected got infected with Baker's Kiss, which meant that people came back to the site literally 11 months after that and panicked because their avatar was a mess of pink and green frosting. LOL

After that year, they made the VIP page so that people weren't involuntarily infected.
