I mean, they've been pretty good about allowing a lot of time each year. There is more than enough time to get 4 strains each year if you're on top of things. (5 strains if 2 of them are vials.) Last year they even extended it by a day due to all the reset troubles at the beginning. I know I'd definitely prefer the event to start earlier, but that's more of a personal preference. Sorry that the timezones don't really work well for you though. That can be frustrating.

Don't the vials take 24 hours to progress though, meaning it takes 4 days? I've been reluctant to use them over the past few years just because of that, I might take one just before the end if taking one before Survival ends still unlocks the skin after.

All I really want is to get a virus as soon as it starts, I can save the kissing for the next morning. I know which virus I'll be getting first anyway. I just have to hope that it does start tonight, and before midnight where I am. I should be able to tell if it's starting soon by seeing new items in the Directory. I have a tab of that open all the time to look out for upcoming things.

Vial stages are still around 15hrs like the rest of them. So if you got a vial going at 6pm tonight, you'd be done at roughly 3pm 2/17. I forget the exact mechanics, but I believe if you sign up on the VIP, you go through the normal waiting time that can be speed up via bites. But if you drink the vial, you will be immediately infected with the virus.

I would save a 8 stage virus to the very end if you think you'll have the time. So long as the virus is on your avatar and cooking by the end of the event, you'll receive the skin after, even if it's after event end.

They shortened the vial progressions? Why didn't I hear about this before?

Also, what happens if you get a vial infection from the VIP but then drink the same vial?

Yeah, stages have been the normal 15ish hours for a few years. Which means if you are timely, you can try to do 2 vials and 3 strains (assuming it starts tonight and goes though the end of Feb).

If you purchase the strain and then take the vial, I think you just lose the money spent on vip, but otherwise, nothing much. The vial will give you the strain immediately, and I don't think you have to do anything on the VIP page.

(Also I could be wrong. Things are a bit fuzzy but I'm pretty sure this is all valid info. Last year I did 2 vials and 3 long stage infections with time to spare.)

How soon do new items usually show up in the item directory before the event starts?

I'm hoping it will start today, but I don't have that much hope at this point. In the past it's started later in Feb, I think, so I guess it's not so unusual if it doesn't kick off today.

Edit: Five minutes after I posted this I got my Longtime Member achievement, and I remember joining in 2012 just as Pandemic was starting. Good times. stares at clock Aaaaany minute now....

@/Astra usually they start adding items at around 3-4p subeta time so they're done and ready to start events at 6-7p e/ that said, that's how i remember the last few events going. they may be changing things up, or they may just... not be starting survival today
