I plan on making it, and I have the post ready and everything. I think I'll be reusing the Bite Me Directory as the name though.

It's funny. I keep stressing about being there to make it, to the point where I asked for a week off from work to be there, even though I think I should be fine. Most people aren't in a rush to make a directory because they're work.

oh, big mood. i keep thinking, eh, it's ok if someone else does the survival previews, i don't need to do them... but then i also formatted the post last week, so really i'm split between "you don't need to do all the previews!!" and "don't let that go to waste!!" lmao

I had fun last year and I want to do it again. I also feel like it won't be the same if I'm not consistently stressing about running the thread even though the doctor was a little worried about my blood pressure today.

dammit I was really hoping it started today. I guess they are wanting to start it on a Friday for the weekend.

haha, oh man, i hope it's not too stressful! it's super helpful, i think last year i tried having my own lil bite thread and it was not an experience i care to repeat p: nibbling the people in the directory is much better!

We're moving from a list system to a ping system using forum groups, so if it takes off, it'll mean less stress for everybody! It should be easier for people to ping a group over individuals and it should be easier to manage overall if I'm not adding or removing people all the time. I still have a back up with a normal list, but hopefully we won't have to go there.

I'm quite excited for the festivities! Hopefully tomorrow will be the day!

Another general timing FYI... If we're looking at a "usual" Survival, and strains take 8 stages, this is a timing guide for the curious (assuming an average of 15hrs per stage): S1 - 6:00PM 2/15 S2 - 9:00AM 2/16 S3 - 12:00AM 2/17 S4 - 3:00PM 2/17 S5 - 6:00AM 2/18 S6 - 9:00PM 2/18 S7 - 12:00PM 2/19 S8 - 3:00AM 2/20 Note- after the final state, some time will be needed to load the avatars into the wardrobe. Last year we lost the better part of a day waiting, and it was quite frustrating.

oh wow, you guys are really on top of things!! o: ping groups should help a lot; people won't have to bug you directly when they're gone for the weekend or what have you. i look forward to seeing the results of all your prep!!

psst, you were involved with strain tracking last year, yeah? are you going to be doing that again this year? i was trying to remember who's names i should be looking for in the forums when it comes to the strain tracking thread :p

Yupppp. will probably be making the main tracking thread, and I'll likely try to help with naming coordination.

And yeah, that ping group endeavor is a bold one. I'm expecting a truly horrific amount of pings. But it'll definitely make it easier for people to mute the groups sporadically, and join if they want to help.

@/jensen Yup! People can manage themselves, which is always nice. There are still some aspects that groups can't take care of (highlighting specific people for instance), but no more editing your post to ping people because of ping limits and no more mis-pings!

Yeah, it'll probably be a total nightmare for some people! I always got a ridiculous amount of pings so I don't expect it to be much different, but it'll might surprise other people.

So another day or two of waiting... maybe... grrrr

honestly the ping limit was the first thing i thought of. being able to sidestep that is worth the ping shenanigans, i think!

I'm hoping that it will start today, because it's Friday, and events usually start on Mondays or Fridays and Monday seems a bit too late.

I'm a bit scared because last year it started at about 11:30PM in my time zone, I remember staying up for it, then ending up staying up even later when the virus resets happened. I'm going to stay up late again just so I can get a virus as soon as possible, and then go to bed once it says I'm infected, so I don't waste development time by getting it in the morning. I just hope the reset error doesn't come back again...

Seriously though, being in a later time zone is just so inconvenient. I'm having to give up my sleep just so I can fully enjoy these events.

Hopefully they've worked out the issues from last time and infections can go smoother! Sorry your timezone makes it hard for you, though. :(

On another note, I freaked myself out, because when I went to the Item Directory and saw a new item my first thought was obviously that it might be an event item, despite my logical brain saying it's too early for items to be added. But nope, just this guy, who I forgot was released just earlier lol.

Thanks, I do wish this website would be more time zone friendly at times, but I don't know how they would do that. Maybe if Survival lasted a bit longer so we weren't in any hurry to squeeze in as many viruses as possible if we missed the start of it? But then they allow viruses that started before the end to still be unlocked if they finished after, so they might think that's good enough. I don't know, it's just frustrating.
