Good morning, my friends! Let me invite you to another activity today! ^-^
World Health Day
World Health Day is celebrated every year on the founding day of the World Health Organization, the 7th of April.
Established in 1950, this event has a theme each year to draw attention to a current world health issue.
In this 70th anniversary year, WHO is calling on world leaders to live up to the pledges they made when they agreed the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, and commit to concrete steps to advance the health of all people. This means ensuring that everyone, everywhere can access essential quality health services without facing financial hardship. The theme of World Health Day 2018 is: Universal health coverage: everyone, everywhere. The slogan is “Health for All”.
The WHO puts together regional, local, and international events on this day related to that theme.
On this day you may take some extra steps to care for your health, consider getting a gym membership (and going!) or do some sport stuff you think fun and like, starting a diet or decide for eating less meat or sugar, starting meditation or autogenic training and observe the world with love and sympathy in your heart.
Be inspired, motivate yourself and others, guide your inner self and let your light shine on those who need help.
Do you have ideas for improving your health which you would love to start with a small step today or short-term? Or do you already live a very healthy and wholesome life? What are your thoughts about this? I would love to hear them!
Every on-topic post here gets a raffle entry and there will be prizes for this special day, too:
(Naturally, you can chat in here like always and are very welcome to, yet only health posts count for the raffle!)

Fine. I will brave the thunderstorm and make myself go to the gym before work... something I have been avoiding most of the week. Bad evil thunderstorm for waking me up early, lol

If I claimed and missed you please tell me.
Wow, that´s a brave thought! ^-^
Working as a naturopathic practitioner, naturally my life is wholesome in many categories. However, I should really reduce my intake of sugared drinks. I am a seize 38/8 so still slim, I think, yet the winter and its festivities takes its toll now on my hips, LOL. I could easily loose the additional weight when drinking only water each day yet I am a sucker for mocktails (not every day, no, LOL) and Ginger Ale on ice. Bad bad bad. I really should stop buying Ginger Ale. That´s my promise for World Health Day, yes. And to work out more. Yes. I should do that.

Oh yes, well I'm already living in a healthy life (eating fruits/vegetables) and rarely if ever eat junk/fried foods. I also have snacks throughout the day and drink one cup of tea (in the mornings) and a small cup of coffee (in the afternoon). Aside from eating healthy, I also recently started exercising with my mother following a youtube workout video. Near the end, of course I was sweating, and my legs were very heavy... this always followed by pain in my muscles the next day xD but I will eventually get used to it.
loool I remembered I could barely get up from my seat the next day XD Just now I feel pain in my muscles
I went vegan last year on World Health Day :D Best decision I ever made, also started going to the gym with a friend in March and can already see a difference in myself :)
That´s great! Which differences did you notice? I live veggie myself yet not vegan so far.

I started walking my dog more now that I have a part time job and have also been making more meals at home. I quit sodas last year in the Fall and have been drinking water, coffee, and unsweet tea as my drinks of choice. Already lost a a few lbs because of those changes.
That´s a lot of changes. Yet good ones! Congrats! ^-^

Thanks! I decided at the beginning of 2018, that I wanted to get my small family, husband and dog, in better health and it's not easy, but we're getting there :D The best thing is that a store has opened up close to us that sells local produce, so I get fruits and veggies from there. It saves us a lot of money in the long run!
Definitely! It´s so much more wholesome to use local products anyway. I cook and bake a lot, too. I don´t like to use many things with artificial adds and such. We consider making our own bread next, too. I´ll start this in summer when I have more time.

Congrats on going vegan one of my friends just went vegetarian to help her lose weight
I have given up soda and all things made with artifical sweeteners
That´s good! I have given up all sodas, too. But Ginger Ale, LOL. I don´t really like coke for example. I am going to make my own non-sugary sodas like I did in earlier years from now on with a shot of lemon and orange juice in mineral water and on the rocks.

I wish I could eat healthier, well I don't really eat alot of junk, I just rarely eat. 1 big meal a day, and possibly a small snack or two during the day. I never feel hungry anymore. I need to lose about 30 lbs, but I've stayed at the same weight for nearly 3 years. Life is so busy and stressful, I need to make more time for myself but it's hard to get through a full day taking care of everyone else, I just don't have enough hours in the day.
Yes, stress can prevent weight loss and even is able to let you gain pounds. And every years, it becomes harder to loose them again. However, spring is just the right time to do a spring cleaning there, too! :-) It´s the time of the year our metabolism is very good.

What I've done recently that's good for my health: I've started going to the gym at my work at the end of the day every work day. It is a good way to get a bit of extra cardio and upper body exercise in. I usually get there around 30 minutes before it closes and do cardiovascular and arm/chest exercises till a couple minutes before closing, then pick up a healthy snack on the way out (an apple, small salad, etc). The snack helps reward me for the unpleasantness of the exercise :D
What I want to do: Cook more... home cooked meals are healthier.
What I have been doing all along: I eat fresh food and a lot of vegetables. I walk around a lot if it's a short trip rather than taking my car.
