Okay I haven't been on in like 7 years...and I do remember biting and getting "bit" back then...of course I have "none" of those skins in my wardrobe...(I know I had the heart one) so just for curiousity sake...those saying they want to "collect" skins they haven't gotten this year...how does that work? I find the "strands"/specific one I want and find users with that strand to bite me? LOL

I like seeing the skin progressions as well. And all the new items too. I think it's my favourite event, in terms of clothes style

Ya i believe so. They also have a thing now where you can choose to get infected from a specific year i think?

I'm looking forwards to the new L'Amour items and maybe even the Skitters shop stuff.

I don't care much for this holiday but I do like seeing the new items and how creative staff can get with them.

mmm i'm so psyched for new viruses, they can't really top last year's for me since they were all bug-based but it's still always so exciting watching the progression and trying to guess what they're going to be like i'm excited to see what the theme will be this year but even if i'm not into this year's so much there's still lots of previous ones i still need so i'm just super excited overall c::

It should become more obvious once the event starts and the VIP page becomes available, but yeah you have the option of choosing a random strain, one of the new strains (which we won't know what they look like until a few days after the event starts, once they progress completely), or one of the older strains (you can find a list of those on SubetaLodge).

Each strain has a word or set of words associated with it that is listed on the VIP page to help you figure out which one you want, SL has those words listed with the strains in their guide as well. You can choose to let people with any strain bite you, or you can choose to pay some sP to only be bitten by people with a certain strain.

For now, I would just recommend looking through the list of old strains and seeing if there are any that you really want, and maybe get one of those first when the event starts while you wait to see what the new ones end up looking like. Or you can get a random one of the new ones and be part of the experiment, it's up to you.

There will probably be an FAQ thread in the Survival forums once the event starts as well, because there are always lots of questions and confusion at the beginning.

[edit]Oh and from my own past experience for the last few years, if you get your first strain like right when the event starts, you usually have enough time to get about 3 or 4 strains (maybe 5 in special cases) by the end of the event.

I know I will try for one of the new strains....but after that, I don't know which older strain to get for a skin! There are quite a few I need.

I looked and I was here for the 2009 strains and some of the 2010 strains...which I'm hoping I can get again? I did have them back then but back then they didn't "save" them and since I was gone I don't know if it registered on my account so I'll have to get them again...I'd like the lovebug from 2009 and the Freckle Fever and Butterfly Bruise from 2010...I believe I had those before and I don't think I want any of the ones after that LOL! Unless they have something spiffy this year :) Thank you for the tip on how "many" I should be able to grab by the end LOL! Unfortunately, you would have to get those strains again if you wanted to unlock them. The only way people were able to unlock a strain that they had previously once they were added to the wardrobe skins was if they still had that strain at the time because they had kept it over the years. But yes, assuming that this year will work the same as the past few years have, you should be able to choose any of the previous years' strains to be infected with.

As for the kisses, those are not overlays or skins that can be unlocked. They're just temporary kiss marks that show up on your HA when people kiss you on the forums or your profile or whatever. Kissing is how you get the Candy Heart currencies that can be spent in the L'amour Parlor.

yeah back in the day you didn't get to "keep" them in your wardrobe LOL! And sweet I'd love to choose which strands and hopefully get them all LOL! Do I have to wait for the strands to fully "develop" to keep them? Or can I get bit with one and then the next day get bit by another? lol

Yeah, biting for the infections and kissing for the candy hearts.

And yes, you have to wait for the strain to progress all the way through to the last stage before it unlocks in the wardrobe and you can choose another one. It takes about 4 days or so (I think) for that to happen, and Survival is about 2 weeks long so that's why you can usually get about 4 strains at the most. As long as you get infected with a strain before the event ends, it will continue to progress after the event until it unlocks in the wardrobe for you. But once Survival is over, you can't get infected anymore until the next year.

Perfect! Ahh I was worried you'd have to wait for it to progress all the way through LOL! That's why you said sometimes 5 strands....get bit the last day or so and might grab that last strand as it progresses lol :)

Yeah, and also most of the strains have 8 stages to progress through, but some of the early ones only have 6 stages. So depending on which ones you choose and how you luck out with the timing, it may be possible to get infected with a 5th strain on the last day of the event. But 4 strains should be pretty doable at least, if you get infected not long after the event starts.

I'm not sure..the three I'd want are from 2009 and 2010 LOL! :) But at least I'm online everyday so I should be able to at least get 3 this year LOL! ;) Hopefully there's none I really want for this year LOL

I love the plot, the new infections, and all the new heart-themed items! Survival is my favorite Subeta holiday.

I can't wait for survival, one of my top holidays on here. Wonder if there will be more biting tiers. Though I'm maxed out on that achievement, I still like to spend the first night/day biting who I can to help them get started on the one they want. :)

So less than a week, or even as close as five days at this point. I wonder why I remember them all starting later... o.o

I also love seeing the new skins and how they progress. Sometimes I like the in-progress stages a heck of a lot and wish we could use them as skins, too, haha. Last year was my 1st survival, and it was my favorite holiday, and I'm really excited to pick a new unknown skin again.
