i was lucky to get the job i have in the town closest to where i live, which is only a 15min drive from home. the bigger towns with more options are either a 45min or a 1hr drive from here. so for the moment i just plod along with what i have, while keeping an eye out for anything more interesting. at least i can blast music as loud as i like in the car during my commute! the only downside i can see to the spaceship is possibly the food - i need real food not space goop lol so as long as i still have to chew my food i'll be ok! bring it on!

That sounds just like where I used to live. I miss a lot of stuff about living away from the city but the lousy job prospects and long commute are not among them. Don't even get me started on trying to take a bus into town; that was an all-day affair. They can grow veggies on the ISS so I know I'd be fine!

i used to catch the school bus, back in the day. can't say it's my favourite form of transport. school dresses don't go too well with leather seats in the Aussie Summer heat blech XD yes but what about bacon?! i think bacon is the main reason i could never be a vegetarian ><

Leather seats are just the worst! I went on a random rant about them the other day in one of these threads around here haha. Baconologists have made great strides in plant-based bacon technology in recent years. :P Tempeh slices seasoned just right (e.g. with "Bacon Salt" - it's a thing, and it's vegan) and pan-fried until perfectly crispy should satisfy a bacon craving. There are several other veggie products on the market that attempt to imitate the look, texture and flavor of bacon. I was just at a vegetarian festival on Saturday and sampled a "bacon cheese" dip that had neither, but it was really convincing. If none of that works for you, there's always the promise of lab-grown "clean meat"...mostly that's looking like it's going to be burgers but they're working on bacon too. Once they figure that out, it should be feasible in space. Much more so than a pig farm, anyway!

idk, can it be called a random rant when it's the truth?! :P lol Baconologists?! XD maybe i just haven't tried the right faux bacon flavoured product yet - that bacon cheese dip sounds pretty good actually! i was eating some bacon at work today, thinking about spaceships >< but ohmygosh yes, like a 3D printed food kinda thing, i can't wait to see what other cool stuff they do with that!

Well yeah, bacon is a very important area of research. XD Even as a vegan I think so because it's so popular and I'd like to see more viable substitutes that even meat-eaters would be willing to eat. I was never the biggest fan of bacon so I don't really get all the hype (I would only eat it if it was super crispy) but I admit the flavor is good in stuff like that dip. When lab-grown meat becomes available I'll definitely try it even though I don't really care for meat...I'm just excited about the tech and I want to support it. I can't wait for space bacon. lol
