THANK YOU FOR THIS. I can't tell you how many times I have gone to pet page because I like to level my speed/strength/defense evenly. XD This is nice! And I don't have to open 50 tabs to spend points. HUGE COOKIES FOR YOU.
I would just say that the old system was much more elegant and easy to use.
Maybe instead of deleting all the old links and putting the link to the new page under the old links. Then you have the best of both worlds.
Either that, or the new page needs a lot refining. Some kind of max button, or it only lets you slide up the max you can afford.

The max button was suggested, and I think that's a good idea. It's on my list of things to add.
If the old links were to come back, they'd have to work differently. I'm trying to get rid of things that put unnecessary strain on the server, like reloading the entire page to buy a single stat. The old way was simpler, but not more elegant - and it was very inefficient for both the user and the servers.

"You have to buy enough to reach the next tier, and once the page reloads you can continue spending EXP with the updated prices. (We had to do this so that people couldn't cheat by buying more exp past their current tier with the lower-tier prices.)" sneaky evil staff ;) How could we ever think of doing something like that? XDDD hahaha
I really have to update my blog ObscureJourney and my review site BeingObscure. French speakers can read my reviews here.
Sorry, but I am among those - obviously seems like only a few - who found the old way tons more efficient. As I said: a single fast click on a page I always have open in a tab while playing has turned into a distracting search/multi click/page changing disruption of the game flow.
And I've had to use it several times since implemented.
Would a "max button" like what has been suggested be helpful for you? What about bigger/more visible arrows?
As I've explained, we're not going to revert this, if that's what you are asking for. But if you have suggestions for how we can make the current page better for you, I'm happy to hear the suggestions and see what can be done to take your perspective into account :)

Thank you so much! But I'm not sure, how we could possibly make the current situation more userfriendly again, since it obviously definitly does involve needing to open a new page.
The arrows could definitely be a tad bigger, I think.
I personally don't need a max button but a 1-point button :-) No, seriously, I am afraid, all of us, who enjoyed the former easy and fast access, will have to live with this. I suppose, adding a simple button to each stat like before would probably be even more error prone, and since I already have to open the extra page for every pet, I can (on the computer) just as well type in the "1" and hit enter (This works better and faster now, than in the beginning). Maybe some of the others can think up something, I'm too dumb.
Hopefully a more mobile friendly layout can be found - just by having the 4 pets in a row back as opposed to the endless one under the other lineup.
My comments on the user interface:
On the old system, when you first clicked into the "spend EXP" tab of Battling, you used to be able to see at a glance which of your pets had enough EXP to be able to spend it: there were clickable links, and if they weren't there, then you didn't have enough EXP. Now you have to open each pet in turn to see (eg, Flufftoes currently has 288 EXP; can I buy another Level or Speed or do I need to do another battle?). I would like something on the front page which indicates that.
When you have clicked into the "Spend EXP for this pet" page, the table has a few things which made me unsure how to use it at first.
Clarity: the different columns use different units (stat points, EXP) but don't define this. The "+" column does not state that it means "type/click here to say how many points you want to raise this stat by"; I thought it meant "do the maths then type in how many EXP points you want to spend on raising this stat". Yes, I'm dumb sometimes. Maybe the column headers could be more informative?
Auto Updating: the Total field and the New column do not update until after I have moved my cursor away from the "+" column's input boxes. If it is possible to not make that a necessary step then I would vote for it.
Column order: I find this unintuitive since they are in different units. If they won't be reordered, perhaps The "Cost Per Point" column could be in a slightly different shade (greyer/bluer?) than the others?
Total: it would be helpful if, as well as turning red when you have gone over, it displayed your available EXP points right by there. Yes, they are visible on the same screen over by the pet image, but it is much simpler to look at the same part of the screen rather than scanning around.
Here's my mockup of my suggestions, with comments in obnoxious pink:

Great suggestions! Thank you! Will look at implementing some of that this week.

Could you just add a cooldown to it? Like let someone buy up to 3 stat points that way, and then they hit a 2 minute cooldown and have to use the new form. It keeps things simple for those of us that only need to buy a couple of points at a time, but can't be abused to hurt the servers.

I'd much rather work on refining the new page than try to put the old links back somehow. I know it's an extra page load if you're only buying one stat. But any more than that, you'd just load the page, type the number of stats you want to buy, and go. I'm working on adding bigger +/- buttons as well as a max button and other improvements to this interface to make it easier.

I really like this! Once I have more EXP saved up, this will do wonders...
I just wish you could transfer EXP from other pets, to your battle pet...I have three or four pets who have EXP (can't even remember how they got it, because I don't remember giving them anything that would have given them the little bit they have), and I will never use it on them, and it's not even enough to buy any stats.
Is there a way that this could happen in the future? Kinda like how you can transfer treasure chest slots?
The more I use it, the more I like it. Will love that max button when it's released.
This is a first world problem, but I would like to know for my t13 pets how many stats to get to the new cap. It can be just like the bar that shows how far to the Next Tier.
That way I don't accidentally boost them wrong and have to fiddle with leeches.
Doesn't that feature already exist?
Not on the pets page, but when you go to spend exp on your t13, it says under the pet picture how many stats until you cap!

d'oh, it does! (I'm way closer than I thought, dang)
I was expecting it to be bright green, silly me!
I just noticed that this UI takes levels into account which it actually shouldn't.
I have a pet that's 1 stat to the next tier, so I decided to buy a bunch of levels until 949 before training time and exp cost increases for it. However, I can only add 1 level at a time D:
@ Rocketlauncher ooh good catch. Working on a fix!
Just pushed a fix. Wanna try it out for me?

Hi guys, quick update. No max button yet though (sorry!)
I implemented a couple tweaks, some of which were suggested by :
I added instructions to the page on the most convenient way to use it (for computer users - mobile will get their buttons.)
I also fixed a bug by where it incorrectly included Level in the tier calculation. It should be correctly excluded now. It would be great if you guys could double-check it for me.
Finally I cleaned up the stats home page a little bit, as it was created before we moved to Bootstrap, so I had to go back and convert it. Enjoy the swords :D
