I understand what you mean. The new interface makes it easy to grind away at bqs, especially on the phone, for people that can grind away at bqs. For cases where you need to use strategy or try things out, it's very clunky. It's great for mindless clicking away but not for when you need to implement strategy or pay attention to text.

Loving the changes to the BC! Especially the pre-selected weapons. Have to do some reordering in my armoury to really take advantage of that, but it's so much faster to not have to select everything every time.

Yes! The new battle page is motivating me to try and get a few more wins on the permanent challengers. I'm a bit behind, especially with my smaller pets.

Tried fighting The Dark Forest with my tier 8 earlier today, but didn't get past win 6 :/ Wyrmgear is also trolling me.

Tied! You tied with Terrafirma. Visit the Healer before battling again!

Any ideas on beating Terrafirma with a Tier 8 pet? I seem to have very little weapons that block earth or physical damage for that tier. Hmm..

Congrats on all your wins! You have been keeping super busy.

For terrafirma I used the Minotaur knocker and charged tower shield at tier 8. You could try the turkey quill instead of the shield to block physical. He does a lot of physical and earth. I also blasted with soma and rblaster. For scrolls, I used cobalt eternal, aftershocks as my main scroll and gotf if you can fit it.

You could also try for blocking, but then you are down to one weapon and there is the chance it won't block at all. Similarly the forj shield is a better consistent blocker but is semi-breakable

Thanks! I don't have a Charged Tower Shield unfortunately. Might buy the Turkey Quill if I can't manage with what I have. I'm currently using the Minotaur Knocker paired with the Blessed Trident. The blessing from the Trident is nice when I can get it to activate, but I'm really just using it due to lack of something else. Also trying to freeze it with the Rapier of Error, but I'm not being very successful with that xD I'll try the gotf! I forgot about that one. My tier 8 is lacking one AP to equip both the aftershocks and gotf, but it'll help my t9! When do you use the cobalt scrolls? I never know when to use them, so I end up not using them at all O.o

Edit: Ooooh, the gotf is like a 100% heal on my baby pet xD That'll help a lot.

You Won! You have defeated Terrafirma 10 times! You won a(n) Very Hard token to use in the battle shop! You earned 3293 sP for beating Terrafirma! Gode earned 1900 EXP Points!

Ok, that was for the tier 9 one, now the tier 8 one.. Maybe I should get that one AP extra so I can use gotf.

Hmm, got to 7 wins and now I'm getting one shot in the first turn. I guess that's the sign to stop for now xD

The trident is nice for the blessing, but the wind block it does a majority of the time is of no help and the heal is too small to help, especially with the small heal as well on the knocker. Same idea with the rapier. The turkey quill is nice since it has the chance to heal for a quarter of your health and has the right block.

You could try freezing with cheap AP freezers like perilous whirlpool, but the chance to freeze is small and again the lack of the right block might make the scroll hurt more than help. Yeah gotf is great, like having a third full healer that can't be stolen.

I use cobalt when I need the extra block but don't want to use a healer. Usually it's when my health is in the blue and I want to do damage that turn but know my opponent won't kill me if I don't use a healing scroll or healer.

Yes. That's just how I feel and very well put.

Oh is that the trick. I always try to figure out when it will be the most effective block and can't, so like my one Cobalt Eternal usually just sits there unused and sadly neglected. :-) Goes to put another note in the Battle file.

- I was recently given a long term loan of GoTF and that full heal has made a tremendous difference for my T9. I think your T8 will find the same thing. As for the AP to equip both Aftershocks and GoTF, if you're only one point off it's probably worth taking the time to find/buy and read the 16 (or fewer) books to be able to equip both. That also made a huge difference for me.

- thanks for the kind words and encouragement - you are always so generous with that. Unfortunately, it's not how tough the challengers are, it's that new slick battle interface you love that is keeping me from having any fun. I absolutely can't work with it at all once I need to think about what I'm doing. I am glad that you are enjoying it. And it is really nice how fast it is for me up until Level 20.

Most of it is making an educated guess. I try to look for patterns when I battle tougher opponents, like how often they are using weapons I can't block against effectively without the use of a scroll. If I think they are about to use a hard hitter, I will use the scroll to block out most of the damage. Sometimes I am wrong though and will burn the scroll. That's why whenever I use them I always bring more than one.

Well, it is going to change -- it's only temporary as they work on tweaking things here and there, so don't worry, the interface isn't set in stone! :)

I live in MN, and whatever you've heard... It's much worse.

Yes, and you are much better educated than I am. :-) Seriously, the human brain can deal with seven (plus or minus two) things simultaneously and doing what you describe (like the new UI) puts me over that limit. But at least I can hope to be better someday if my battle knowledge keeps increasing and my seven battling things become more complex.

- yes, I know. .I was a software developer myself so I understand that it takes time, testing and further changes. But in the meantime, battling may not be something I am willing to do. (sigh) I have confidence in and I'll just have to see what comes next.

That's exactly what I was thinking! I love the weapons part since it is so easy to use, but the dropdown menus are terrible when it's not just mindless clicking. They save space but are not user friendly. I have been using the most convenient strategy in battle instead of the best, well thought out strategy. That is disappointing :(

- It is disappointing. And, for me, means not taking on Surge for BQ, or other at my limit or just beyond challengers.

Personally, I would prefer not having weapons preselected, but could learn to deal with that.

So I might be crazy cause I thought of this at literally four o'clock this morning, but is the GotF scroll's battle text a Leeroy Jenkins reference? It's even got the "Least I have chicken" bit at the end.

You call upon the Gift of the Forj, which turns out to be just some very hot crystal that cools itself upon prolonged grasping. Alright, let&;s do this! -Hey, wait! GIMMIE THAT BACK!

A small Forjling comes out of nowhere screaming its name before exploding into dust...Oh, well. &;least you have the crystal back! :D

I haven't thought of that clip in years lol

On an actual battle-related note, I'm so glad I put off maxing Mechalag with Longshot the other day. It would have taken me ages, but with the new UI I can kill him in like 20 seconds.

Looking to buy this!

I used a stopwatch to time it and all 30 BQs took less than 11.5 minutes today with a t11 pet. I even battled Crithbolcan at the end. He is much easier with the new system since he is nothing but mindless clicking!

To me, the preselected weapons are great. If you don't want to use the first 2 weapons in your set, it takes 2 clicks to change them just like it always has. I've changed the order in my default sets to accommodate the way I usually battle:
freezer and bomb with lucky scroll CEF and mecha with freezing scroll bomb and bomb with freezing scroll 2 attack weapons with freezing scroll, then lucky scroll, then aftershocks scroll

Since it is such mindless clicking now, I lost twice in BQs when I didn't notice my freezing scrolls failed. That lead to 2 trips to the healer and 2 extra battles but I still finished BQs in about half the time

Yeah it's great for Verdugo to get through battle quests, super quick with minimal clicking. Not so great when I battle tough challengers with Oranos. I have to scroll to find what weapons I just blasted, scroll to find how much damage and healing was done, scroll to find important battle text, scroll to see what icons are being dealt to anticipate what scroll I need, then scroll to find the actual scroll, scroll to find the shard or potion I want....bleh. I also find myself constantly clicking on the scroll image for whatever reason instead of the drop down menu underneath it lol.

These come down to a major part of why I dislike the new design. It's intended for players who are bored of battling who just want to auto-pilot through and be done with it as fast as possible and discourages the actual game play part of battling. Maybe battling needs a major rethink and overhaul if it's reached this point.
