- I have a loooong way to go before I have anywhere near your experience in putting together battle sets. :-) Fortunately for me (and for Tos, Tharg, Gulp and 81) I can always get help from everyone here.

- again, just for what it's worth. As pointed out, there are almost always cheaper (although sometimes I have to laugh at what battlers consider to be inexpensive) options available that can get any job done. But some of these really expensive items are used over and over by battlers. So it's not a bad idea to target some of them for yourself. The really hard part for me was figuring out which very expensive item would make a big enough difference to be worth making it my first choice to purchase. No question, effective higher tier battling is extremely expensive. So you need to decide what works for you and what sort of battle budget you are comfortable with. If you are willing to pay for replacement mods, sometimes you can borrow an item if you want to try and see what sort of impact it would have for you. And also - I took a very long time before deciding to actually purchase my trident. There is no need to rush, you can always get past any opponents that are going away by borrowing anything you might absolutely need. And there is nothing wrong with choosing to wait until a challenger returns and you have more stats either. Just have to think about how fast you want to go and what works right for you. After all, in the end it's all just pixels and it's supposed to be fun! :-) Hope that is helpful and you enjoy yourself in the Battle Coliseum whatever direction you choose to go in.

I keep setting myself ridiculous goals when it comes to sP...mostly because it has pretty much taken my entire time here to get over 1 Billion. I keep thinking "If I hit 2 Billion...I will get an expensive weapon" and then the crazy voice in my head says "No...aim higher...HIGHER!"

It's like the devil and angel...only...I think they probably look more like little fluffy wolves (cause I love wolves) and one of them is just insane....

That being said, I just looked at my over all sP and I', 184,477,121 away from 2 billion...lol.

What are other alternatives to the trident?

Battle Quests done up to Level 23 - used skip on Saggitarius and looking at Surge. No time for that right now, so maybe later (not sure if I'm ready to get back to the long Surge battles for BQs).

- there are no ridiculous goals or choices, just what does or doesn't work for you. I feel much the same way that you do about sP in the sense that it took me all of my time here on Subeta to earn it. Also, I was serious when I said that it would take several billion sP to buy all the things I think I need to have to support a top tier battle pet - including weapons, scrolls, books to read for AP to be able to use the scrolls, cash shop challengers to fight, etc There doesn't seem to be an upper end to the cost - Natasha alone is about 750 million sP, for example. But, that said, I am working on slowly upgrading my own battle equipment.

Sounds like you are doing well with sP! Congratulations.

I have found that with some minimum questing (Shinwa, Wizard and Saggi everyday plus weekend quests) and then a bit of careful restocking (small shop, all hand priced, have never had more than a single page of items in it at one time) that I am easily able to earn at least 1 million sP daily. During the Quest-A-Thon I was earning more like 5 million sP doing all those weekend quests (and, by the way, I don't count the value of items - just sP, so anything I earn from them is just extra). When I want something expensive, sometimes I will do "extra" questing to try and earn the sP. Or play some games - I can earn about 1/2 million a day just playing a couple games that I enjoy. And I play Blackout every chance I get while I'm online to pay for training and restocking costs - and do a few of those extra quests and/or games if I fall a bit behind. That's what works for me.

You have to decide what you like to do on Subeta and how much time you enjoy spending here. Even doing BQs up to Level 20 every day earns you EXP to buy more stats. So that's a good thing already. And, as you improve, you will earn even more EXP each day. And, of course, training only moves you forward. I do recommend doing Shinwa quests for the stat boosters she gives out and there is always Quentin to consider for amulets if you have some extra questing time.

I'm not the right one to ask about trident alternatives, because I've been depending on it since I got it. But I do know that, again, it depends on which challenger you are trying to beat. I think you've been getting a bunch of suggestions for what to use against The Gate Keeper. And you just need to figure out one opponent at a time. MrCool's blog is a great help for suggestions about what to use against a particular challenger, as, of course, is this thread.

If a weapon is suggested, you can look at what attack and defense icons it has (as well as anything special like blessings) to see if anything you already own is close or can substitute. If you also look at a challenger's attack/defense and specials then you can do a better job of matching. Maybe I mostly want the trident for wind defense and any other weapon with wind defense that also has a reasonable attack would work as an example. Sometimes I just want any weapon that can be a secondary healer. Sometimes you really need to block one or two sorts of icons to get by a challenger that deals lots of those icons.

Just today in my BQs, I accidentally started a battle with Cursed Effigy, the Tormented using my default weapon set and very nearly wound up getting killed. (Thankfully, AoN was in my default set and saved me. I had almost no hp left when he died because I didn't have a second attack weapon that could hit him well and my healers and freezers were, of course, useless.) I got him a second time, remembered to change my weapons and easily beat him with most of my hp intact.

Wishing you much good luck and success battling. Also hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for the TBT reminder! I almost forgot about them thanks to the gellies, and I think my littles should be able to beat the golem thingy at least a few times ^^

If you're looking for cheap wind defense, there's

Stats at 1500-2499 Speed: Attack: 31-34 Wind, 5 Physical Defense: 40 Wind Heals: 4% Other: boosts pet's speed by 25 when used in battle.

Of course, the stats (and healing) are much lower than the trident's, but it's only a fraction of the price, and you can save your sp and get a Swashbuckle at T11.

I'm mostly good - just tired. Been doing a lot of extra sleeping and reading since the Gelatin War. :-) How are you doing?

I play Caliph's Tomb all the time. It's my favorite game to just relax.

It's super fun! and easy too :)

If you want your RV back, let me know...I'm still struggling with the Gate Keeper, but it is helping with the later rounds of BQs...

Same goes for your scrolls...let me know when you need them back!

Thanks , wish I could've gone further, but I'm still trying to beat these guys without much luck, even after the weapon advice. I'll keep trying but will probably have a better shot once I boost to 3k each stat.

I am questing while watching How I Met Your Mother, but I'll play in a moment :D whooo

[edit] It's ok, it's my wardrobe copy, so I'm not really using it. I'm glad it's been helpful for BQ :D

- you have been working and growing and also getting new weapons and scrolls. I'm sure you will be able to beat those challengers soon the way you are going.

And, yes, enjoy Caliph's Tomb.

- it is easy, but I always enjoy playing anyway. (I don't always like easy things.) And I find it very relaxing.
