Chuckling, Drew nodded. "Yep, there is that," he said. "I bet it can be done though."
He nodded. "Been thinking of looking for a sanctuary. Might find meself a place in there. Sometimes the din is just too much, you know?"
"Yeah, I know what you mean," Drew agreed. "And there's just something about being in a forest that's calming. A forest is my favorite place for rides and walks, especially if I happen on a clearing where you can also see the stars." He gave an apologetic little shrug and said, "I know you're not keen on that part...and who can blame you...but I love the night sky and being out away from everyone. Course having privacy in the daytime is good too, especially if you have a good book and a big snack to take with you." He smiled.
"Its not the stars I mind, its knowing all the other crap with 'em you know? just don't like fancy charts and stuff. Prefer just looking and dreaming on me own. Van Gogh 'ad it right, 'For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream' That's the best part, just staring out and dreaming. But yeah being one with nature, that's what I like. Or bring a good book and snack, like you said."
Drew smiled at Magnus, feeling a kinship and connection with the other boy. "Dreaming is very under-rated," he said. "If more people dreamed and allowed themselves time to do nothing but relax and breathe deeply of the scent of earth, grass, and trees, I bet we wouldn't have all the stress and crap that we do. But no, people have to be rushing around, busy and worrying all the time instead of trying to enjoy the simple things."
Magnus nodded. "I think that's why me mum is pushing me to keep up with me art. Cos its something in me--something that books and knowledge can only enhance. Dreamin' leads to invention. Look at Da Vinci. We 'ave to let go sometimes and just let our imagination soar."
"Exactly," Drew agreed. "It's why I dabble in writing. Dad thinks it great since he does writing as well and Mum does a bit, but hers is more scholarly. I'd rather make up things. I can't draw worth anything, but I like to think that my words can make word pictures." He smiled a bit shyly. "I think your Mum is dead on. You need an outlet for your creativity and you, my friend, have plenty of it." Drew smiled and put a hand on Magnus' shoulder.
"Oh that's cool. Maybe we can do a comic together. I draw, you write." He blushed deeply. "Er... thanks."
"now that would be amazing!" Drew said with a smile. "I'd love to do that. And...you're welcome," he added with a smile.
"Cool. Think about what you wanna do and lemme know. I'm pretty good with anything."
"Awesome," Drew smiled. "I will. For now though I guess I should head back to my common room since the workshop is over. But I'll see you at the next one. It's been fun and I'm glad I met you, Magnus."
"Yeah," he said "I better get going too. Very nice meetin' you Drew."
Magnus picked up his things and started towards the door, sneaking an extra waffle into his bag. He would have to go look for Eirik now. Surely his friend had had plenty of time now.
( enjoy those waffles lol)
(( haha I had to buy some cos of this workshop lmao. Major craving.))
(( LMAO that's great! I guess it's a part of my Disney obsession but to me waffles always taste better if they are Mickey shaped 😄 ))
(( haha okay you've gobsmacked me, I can't think of a reply to that lmao.))
(( so that's two nights in a row I've got you with no response LOL Either I'm good or we're too tired))
