I imagine if I went inactive for a long time, and came back, I'd be very upset if my pets were deleted. I'd be even more upset if my pets, which I made/adopted/trained/cared for etc, now belonged to someone else.
Also, I don't think a newer player should be able to so easily get a free pet that's already been trained, colored, etc... but mainly, I feel that pets have sentimental value to their owners, so the original pets - even if the name is slightly changed - should remain with their home account.

If the original birthday can be arbitrary changed, it ceases to have any meaning. It's a fixed timestamp. You can't go back and alter that.
What about, give a paid option to enable or disable birthday on the pet's profile. If you disable it, feel free to code the pet's profile and assign whatever birthday you want in its story.
The pet's born day or birthday would be changeable. Just like gender and name. It would cost x amount of SP and allow a user to change the full month day and year. That would fix the problem for people after a certain date or to help people with ocs. The only thing not changeable I believe is a pet's Id never which is created when the pet is. It wouldn't cease to have meaning. The people after certain dates will just have a way to get it. It is not like we can trade pets here so there is no value to it anyways.
I've seen this suggestion so many times, and by no means is anyone entitled to someone else's pets and, by extension, hard work. Be happy that you have the opportunity is snag a name off of someone's account when they go inactive after a year. It used to be a lot more complicated and convoluted with a "purge" that happened once or twice a year.
Actually, what I refer to is "original" aspect of the pet's birthday. If someone, by curiosity asked when you created the pet, and the born date is changeable, they can't see any proof that it is really created on that day.
That I don't know. The Overlay and Pet Profiles section of the rules say this, which may cover birthdays: "Misrepresenting any details -- including stats -- is not allowed."
I'd be absolutely heartbroken if I couldn't get on subeta for a year and came back to find them all taken from me. It took me a long time to get Akeesa as that particular experiment pet, and I've spent a lot of time and money on ALL of my colored pets. Not a single one was adopted like that.
No support, man. You don't know why someone left, it's unfair to rip their hard work away from them just because they can't be on subeta.
No. No, no, no, no, no. It doesn't matter if someone goes inactive or barely plays Subeta anymore, absolutely no one is entitled to literally steal their pets (or items or anything else). We can already take their pet and user names. Inactive users don't need to be punished any more than that. No one is entitled to another user's hard work just because they want it.
People aren't always frozen because of "bad" things, though. They might have not had time and didn't want to worry about something happening to their account in the meantime, so they freeze. How is the system suppose to automatically differentiate between frozen people? A frozen tag is a frozen tag, the reason behind the freezing is only relevant if they log back in and file a repeal to become active again (since, I insofar as I am aware with self-frozen accounts, an admin still has approve it). Even then, why does someone else deserve someone else's work? Are we going to alternatively put out why someone was frozen? I think people deserve that privacy. I don't really see the point in coding a difference between frozen users because people, to put it quite bluntly, feel entitled or envious of the work someone else put into their pet.
As for deceased users; when a person passes away, their account can get a special tag. Their username will remain, but like all other inactive accounts, their pet names are opened. Previously their accounts would have just opened up like normal/been deleted/whatever was the method at this time, so the accounts staying around with their username is more of a memorial thing.
Except there's no way to tell why someone left. There's no way to tell if they're coming back. There has absolutely been users that claimed they were leaving and not coming back, that self froze, only to change their mind later.
You're asking subeta to allow you to STEAL someone else's hard work. And that gets a resounding NO from me.
Pet names are not someone else's work. They were lucky. You can put work into getting your pet names, but ultimately in a clearing, it's completely random on who gets it.
A username though, is a memorial because it's what they were called on the site. It's what they posted with, it's what came up when they smailed and commented people... Their username just helps the memorial of their account - all their pet profiles, their galleries, comments - remain on the site. If their username changed, it would difficult to find their account and be able to see the remnants of that person. Even if they lose their pet names, their pets still remain on the site. What you're suggesting is that someone should be able to get the actual pet - it's not comparable to just a name.
No it shouldn't be restricted. We have glitched pets with a birthday in 1969 long before subeta. Assuming that dates in the future wouldn't work. People who want to have historical characters, tributes, special dates like an anniversary might have a year before subeta. Like me personally if it became an option to change birthdays Permanent's would be changed to my birthday and I am older than the site.
well i agree with you there, tbh if you're inactive over a year I don't think you have enough interest in your pixels to be sad about them not being here if you came back, but that's just my opinion :P but still, if adopting someone elses pet was /over/ a year, then pet name stalkers would be upset needing to wait 2-3years + for a pet. If pet name taking was still after one year of inactivity, then accounts would only be stalked after for colours. Which in the 2-3 year time frame you could of just gotten it yourself :s
No thanks.
A note: pets whose names that have been taken due to inactivity are given a free name change. So "Muerte_123" would be given the chance to change to any free pet name for free.
I definitely wouldn't be okay with this for inactive users, at all. I mean I've greedily looked at low IDs on long inactive accounts and thought to myself "hng I want them so bad" but the same could be said for inactive users with super old impossible to find CWs/godlies/whathaveyou y'know so just because someone wants it doesn't mean they have any right to it. Like if an account was deleted like the old days then the IDs/items would all be deleted.
In theory I'd be okay with the idea of frozen users pets being sent to the adoption center (fair game for anyone and stuff) after a period of time but it'd only be for like staff-frozen accounts that'd never be unfrozen, not self-frozen accounts. With that in mind the manpower it'd take to periodically go through accounts to see why people were frozen/dump the pets is absolutely not worth the trouble.
If it ever came down to a matter of "These are taken up too much space" I imagine staff would probably just delete the frozen accounts.
Anyways, I think the best option when it comes to "I really really want this ID/birthday" on an inactive account is to probably sMail the user in question asking them about it? If they end up coming back and aren't all that interested in the pet anymore, there's a chance they may adopt it out.
Not a big fan of this idea! There's a lot of problems here that I don't think are fair to inactive users, should they come back. I also don't think it's a good way to have old users return to the site... I wouldn't be encouraged to come back to the site if all of my pets, their stats, TC slots, IDs, etc. were taken from me. Not only that, but all of their profile information would have been cleared and I would have no way of retrieving it. :( There's just so many variables that I don't think it would be a practical system. It's already pretty generous to let us take pet names and usernames after a year.
^ Yeah, this! I got an /extremely/ low ID because someone came back and didn't want the pet renamed from a clearing anymore.
So if for whatever reason I couldn't get back on my account: life got really busy, I got sick, a family member got sick, etc etc, I don't deserve my hard work anymore?
A year is a long time, I get that things happen, I've been inactive on here for months, too. I just feel... a year is a long time, lol. If you have put in a lot of work to this site, it shouldn't be that difficult to remember to log in once every few months. You do deserve your hard work, hence being opposed to the OP in the first place....
A year really isn't a long time. A lot of shit can happen in one year, a lot of people get really, really busy. I went inactive once, because I just had gotten in to high school and I straight didn't have time to think about a website. Does that mean someone else deserved the work I put in to my account? Absolutely not. Life happens. Some things are absolutely more important than a website, but in no way does that mean someone else deserves to swoop in like a vulture to pick off someone else's work just because that person had to prioritize other things for a time.
