Also, just in general a lot of site items have offended someone at some point so , why is this offending someone the reason why it shouldn&;t be included? The site has never shied away from being what it&;s been and that includes the fact that in general, many of the user base is very liberal which has been reflected in a number of items on site. The site has never shied away from the fact that it is mostly liberal so... what exactly makes an item like this being included on site any different?

is 100% correct

And, if you truly want Subeta to be your safe space, you will have the freedom to adblock this item from existence, which I didn't have when we had a really questionable random event.

You have the possibility to COMPLETELY IGNORE the item and block it from existence, especially if it's something like a free gift or a token shop item, since it won't be asked in quests or something like that.

Subeta cannot monitor everything for you, you also have a job in monitoring your safe spaces, and filtering what is disturbing/triggering to you.

It's got nothing to do with having a 'safe place', as far as I'm concerned. I just think Subeta shouldn't get involved in politics or making political statements in their items.

I sympathise with the suggestion, and the reasons behind it - but I'd rather not start going down that road. That's my personal opinion, but of course I appreciate others may not see it the same way.

Will be interesting to see what happens though =)

It's a far too Meh-looking item for me to care either way. The name is the only thing that makes it special, or even amusing, and that can't be used..., so (shrug) not really interested. On the other hand, it's a crying shame the real hat the marchers wore wasn't as cute as the Subeta Pink kitty hat is.

Like my HA?

[EDIT] Subeta has never professed to be politically neutral though. There's been anti-Bush items on site, pro-homosexual items on site. There's a canon transgender NPC on site plus one that professes to be neither gender. My point is, I can understand wanting the site to be neutral politically, but it's never been neutral politically.

Choosing not to create an item of this nature wouldn't change that. [/EDIT]

Why would a pink hat from the Womens March be something out of a safe space? I agree about not bringing politics matter here but Subeta has already set foot in the past somehow with other items.

^ Just a few.

So yeah, this has my support. However, I disagree on the "pussy hat" and "this pussy grabs back". I know it's targeted towards a certain speech from the president of the US but some people actually like him and I feel like that's stepping on their safe space.

Eh, I edited my previous post, but it doesn't seem to be correcting so if it randomly caches and corrects at some point, sorry for the double post.

Anyway, subeta has had anti-Bush items, pro-homosexual items, and canonically has both a gender neutral NPC and a transgender NPC. The site has NEVER been politically neutral.

A hat, a pink hat at that without assigned meaning is in the end just a hat. Also,, however you look at it's a fairly innocuous item and a line of them in different colors negating their political influence would still be a cute item on site. Knit cat eared hats existed before they became a symbol of the march.

How about no? Like everyone said, we already have a pink cat hat.
Besides, there are people on this website who come here to avoid the real world and not have American politics thrust in our faces. To boot, doesn&;t subeta not want political talk on the website? Afaik, that caused problems with the debate topic and got it shut down.

Besides, the &;pussy&; hats look kind of ugly, imho. They have a really plain design that isn&;t very unique. I&;d much rather stick to the old cat hat.

The more I think about it, the more I think this is a bad idea. Why would subeta give us a pussy hat and not a maga hat at the same time? They&;d only be angering the portion of their userbase who supported Trump ALONG with the non-Americans who are sick and tired of seeing American politics on the website and lose potential revenue.

The "safe space" remark was a joke, to mock the people who are always whining about "safe spaces" and "triggers"; however, quote said it perfectly.

mixed feelings about this. while i loved the women's marches all over the world - massive kudos to that - i have serious issues with how cis-centric "this pussy grabs back" and "pussy hats" is to this whole cause. not all women have vaginas, and i'm so goddamn sick of the presumption and of cis women taking up so much space in women's politics when they're only a segment of it. it reeks of terf. and i prefer to not see terf stuff emerging (further) in subeta.

so. yay for the sentiment, nay for the... exclusionary side of it.

I'd be completely for this if just to get some new kitty cat hats. Honestly if it wasn't for the political slogan about this pussy fights back or whatever then I wouldn't notice it if it said this kitty bites back etc. because it's a clever slogan if you change it to a more subeta acceptable vocabulary. That being said. I feel like I spouted a bit of gibberish that doesn't quite makes sense. Anyway. I support the idea of a new knit cat hat line and it shouldn't matter if you agree with the politics behind it or not. You don't wear an item for the description necessarily, you wear it because it's cute or works well with an outfit.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't most- if not all- of those items left over from before the time subeta decided to split from real world stuff, just like the flags and holiday items? Either way, the fact that those items exist doesn't change the fact that people are sick of seeing stuff about the elections, and I don't think it should exist on the site.

(And, personally, I'm annoyed by the Native American plush there as a member of the Cree tribe, and I'd rather it didn't have that sort of description/name, but that's just me. TL;DR: We're not irl elves and not every tribe was hospitable and industrious. It's uncool to paint us all with the same brush, and is sort of insulting. In being 'pc', it erases our history.)

I'd like to see this. On the other hand, I'd be very pleased with an expanded range of knit/slouchy/cat hats in general. As someone mentioned upthread, the ones on site can be tough to work with, or don't exist in more than a few basic colors.

I don't think it needs to be named anything specific, though.

While I'd agree that having this kind of item would be nice... to represent the solidarity that has been proven across all continents... I definitely wouldn't support such a vulgar and politically-charged name/description. I honestly don't mind that word much?...but there are some who do, and some who might even find it triggering, and if it's a filtered word it definitely has no place in an item name. Plus it's just a really... ugly sentiment, regardless of who said it.

I mean, the fact the word has been given the a-okay by the electorate is kinda the point, isn't it? I think the only way to confront such vulgarity is head on, to expose its malice.

Anyway, pussy or not, I agree that it'd be cool to see a marker to signify the marches and movement.

But I think there are better platforms to do that instead of here on a virtual pet site.

I wouldn't mind having a similar looking item for those who want it, but I think the name and description should comply with the site's rules.

I thought that line was in reference to Donald's "Grab her by the pussy" though, and wasn't meant to be exclusionary but a "touch me and I hit back" response. I... also assume anything having to do with vagina and uterus' etc etc would include transmen. I DO ALSO know that scumbags TERFs use stuff, even things that are meant to be inclusive. Which sucks. And they need to stop tainting stuff.

So like the TERF group/users got banned but an item that's emblematic of a genital-centric brand of feminism that's basically gender-essentialism-lite is fine?
