Blasting definitely helps against him. You can get lucky and blast one gigaton bomb and hope that's the one he keeps using.

The battle quest counter on the widget has been broken for years now 😕 I really like Challenger Tier Guide~ if you want an idea of which opponents to take on at your tier :D

- yes, I really was. I had no idea what I was doing but Gulp was top of her tier (or in the first few) and I got this thing that everyone was raving about. I, of course, had no clue what it was or why everyone wanted one. At the time, I think Tos was low to mid Tier 8, Tharg was Tier 7 and I had absolutely no idea what to do with it. It's been in my vault ever since. I'm told that eventually it can be combined into a pretty good Tier 11 weapon, but, for now, maybe I should just try it out as is. :-)

Hahah pretty good, more like the best dark blocker aside from old god weapons. Seriously, 90% of the time if you have a dark blocker you're solid. Once your pet is in the T12 range, you can take on the gelatin wizard and get 10 wins on him to get the gelatin concoction. Combine that with your core and you will get the maniacal essence. I know I will be able to get the concoction this year, the issue is the core. At the tier I'm at, it's really hard to get top 10 damage with so many other stronger pets T-T

If they do the tier splitting thing again, I would try to get one with Oranos rather than Verdugo. There seems to be less competition in the T8 range.

Is the split at T8? I think I would definitely stand a much better chance with him. It would just be a shame not to compete with Verdugo D:

For the last plot we could use multiple pets and they split it as T1-T8 and T9-T13 (I used my T12 to get a Malhuili and my T6 to get the Lambent Guardian Crystal). You could probably try with both pets that way, but I suppose it also depends if they still release the core as a prize for T1-T8 pets.

So the tier split has been around for some time now? I have always thought the most recent plot was when they first put the tier split thingy into practice :'(

- I am a lonely Go player. I guess I will forever have to just struggle to get 10 coins a day by beating easy gyms if I can find them.

- It was sort of there for Kiyo, the top 10 in each tier got a special item, but for the most recent one they actually had different loot for T1-8 than for 9-12

: I was there for Kiyo :'( I thought the top prize was for the top damage dealing pets sitewide, regardless of tiers, that was why I didn't put in a lot of effort :'( I was around T6 then I guess. Oh well, there're always future plots but dang I have missed out on so many shiny things XD

- For Kiyo, they didn't announce it before hand. Most of the loot was based on overall damage, it was just one item that was top per tier. The temple guardian they announced before hand.

The T1-8 / T9-13 split was indeed new for the last plot :D They made it into three separate waves where your points per pet only counted for one wave. If you used the same pet in two waves, they would only count your highest total for one of the waves toward prizes for that pet. Plus, you could only use one pet between T9 and T13 and one between T1 and T8 for top tier prizes. For example, if you used a T10 and a T13 pet, they would use your higher tiered pet and the T10 became ineligible. That T10 pet could still earn prizes for their total damage, but not for being best in their tier. Some of us used the split to earn top tier prizes for two different pets (T12 and T6 for me). I battled with Crimsyn in one wave and Batpod in another. During the third wave I got some sleep, LOL.

For the last Hydragellos, they gave out cores to the top 25 overall and one for the best in each tier (but no one could earn two). The top 10 per tier received a Leftover Hydragel and a Hydragellos Essence. For Kiyo, the Ancestral Unrest was given to the top 76 overall and the top 10 in each tier got a wearable (Humble Wooden Offering Doll). For those bosses, the three waves all counted toward your total, so we had to battle for like, 16+ hours to be the best. Now, we just have to do our best for one wave (5-6 hours) and hope it was good enough. I kind of prefer it the new way in that respect.

Yes, it gets tough for pets in the higher tiers to be top ten, but I think as people get used to the new system it's going to be hard at the lower tiers as well with lower tier pets with better weapons or expensive scrolls from their high tier siblings - the saving grace will be that you have to choose which pet to battle with and I think most of the really serious top tier battlers want to win with their main pets first. Also the split in top prize awarded will make a difference too - Gulp won a Lambent Guardian Crystal too, but it's only a Tier 1 weapon. There are several good things about the new system, but it does seem to create some serious luck as to which tiers are easier to win for a particular event (not always the bottom ones). Still the very top tiers is where the most serious competition is going to be. I just wish there was some way to avoid hours of semi-mindless clicking. Not sure I really want to do that again. (For one thing my wrist hurts for days.)

- they changed the system again so the lower tier pets have a different top prize, so it might not be the core next time around at lower tiers I think they said that was the whole point of the split. Also which tier is easiest changes from event to event as the rules are tweaked and everyone tries to move to the best spot. You gave a great explanation of what happened in the last three events, wow. I would never remember all those details. Now we just have to see what will happen next time given the most recent feedback.

Yes, the most recent plot was where they first split the top prizes into two different tier ranges. That was in response to people being unhappy with the core being awarded to lower tiers the event before. I was slightly frustrated because my highest pet wasn't Tier 9 yet, so I couldn't even try for the "best" prize. Not sure what will happen next time around.

I think Kiyo was the plot before the cores. If I remember right, the lack of announcement beforehand resulted in some commotion. That was addressed with the Hydragellos event and then the problems there were addressed with the two tier range split. I was just starting to get a little serious about the time of the Kiyo plot. I also thought I had no real chance and didn't wind up doing well, partly as a result of that. Not sure what they'll do next time around. If we get the rumored challengers for Masquerade, we may find out soon, though. :-)
