Katsumi caught the direction of her date's gaze and turned him firmly away. "Bothering them's out, and questions should probably wait," she told him, looking amused but cautious. She had no desire for a fight to ruin anyone's evening. "C'mon, I wanna go look at the musicians. I think they're ghosts, but they're playing instruments -- and they sound like there's more of them than I can see."

Fable sits smiling talking to happily

Kat sternly told Magnus no and the boy obeyed with a nod. "Sorry... but I mean..." he sighed, "Yeah we should let 'em alone and not pester 'em for information but..." and here he did a little quiet squee and wishpered, "I loved Dracula. Ghosts? Really? Cool...." And allowed himself to be shoved towards the musicians--well gently guided...
( OOC back now after watching the debate)
Garrett watched the snacks while Fable went to get her own Frosty Cider. His drifted over to the couple, he could see that Magnus seemed like he wanted to do something in his direction, but was happy when they went off to look at the performers. When Fable returned, he said "looks like more conflict was averted, which is good. I am not in the mood for any more of it tonight. I just want to relax with you and eat myself silly. Your turn to watch our snacks." Garrett went up to the refreshment table and returned happily with
"Now, " Garrett said, "I can relax again. I wonder why I am so hungry tonight."

() she watched the snacks suddenly feeling tired again. Being Introverted would do that too you...She was proud of Garrett, keeping his cool and she did find the ghost performers fascinating but wanted to wait before going up there.
She smiled when he came back "Good choices...I love how the ghosties float up from the haunted juices..."

() Garrett smiled as he sipped his juice. "I do as well. You know, I think I could use a good meal, I think that's why I keep eating so much. I wonder if we could send an owl and get delivery pizza..." He chuckled at the idea.
He looked a bit concerned...Fable was starting to look a little tired, and wondered if they should call it an evening soon.

() Fable smiled "I can sympathize with the needing a good meal...its probably all the sweets." She was happy to be with him even if she was tired...

() Garrett smiled, he seemed to be doing that a lot tonight. "you want to maybe...head back up to the common room, get more comfy, and snuggle up with a movie..? I hear the new Ghostbusters is available"

() Fable smiled. "That sounds lovely...I think I could used a break..."

() Garrett stood up, taking Fable gently by the hand "well, shall we, my dear...?"

() she happily took his hand and let him lead her to the common room "I had fun tonight"

() " I did as well, although I will be glad for a bit more peace and quiet," Garrett said as they walked down to the common room.

() "Agreed" nuzzling into him.

Audrey had always felt overwhelmed by crowds, but promised herself that she wouldn't hide away in the Hufflepuff dormitory this time. She wasn't going to miss yet another special occasion. After anxious deliberation, she decided to join the festivities after the room was full, assuming that they would be too distracted to notice her entrance at all. She parted the doors to the ballroom for a peek, then took a deep breath and slipped inside.
Staying close to the walls, she looked for a spot to plant herself for the night. "Ah! This should be fine." She took her seat at a lone table inconspicuously situated in a far corner. Her gaze shifted from the carefully coordinated decorations, to the variety of costumes donned by the guests, to the treats her stomach began calling for. It all looked so delicious. However she intended to wait for her friends to arrive before ravaging the hors d'oeuvres, no matter how tempting.
Audrey wasn't completely satisfied by her own outfit, which she nervously picked at and smoothed throughout the night. The hat was much too floppy, she observed, while the skirt should have been hemmed a bit higher. It had almost tripped her twice already. Yet despite her criticisms, she was excited to dress as one of her favourite characters: Sophie Hatter from 'Howl's Moving Castle'. It was among Audrey's most beloved childhood films, a story re-imagined by a talented wizard who wished to share a little of his magic with the muggle world. While he was often called magical in their realm, the true wizardry behind his work must never be known.
Audrey absent-mindedly tapped her hands to the music, while trying not to eavesdrop on anyone's conversation. It was difficult not to overhear while sitting alone. She even conjured up a small flame reminiscent of the fire demon from the aforementioned fantasy film. It danced around the table, making snarky remarks to entertain her, before abruptly dissipating in a puff of smoke. A short while later, she caught a yawn escape her lips and decided perhaps it was time for a pick-me-up after all. One butterbeer wouldn't hurt, now would it?
She made her way through the crowd, squeaking a meek "excuse me" to each person she passed. A seemingly precarious tower of the golden brew was within sight, when the edge of her skirt fell beneath her step and she stumbled into a stranger. "O-oh! I'm so sorry!" she winced and hid her face behind her hands... (OOC: A prompt if anyone needed one, disregard or feel free to introduce yourself :D)
"Thanks Millie," Paddy replied, "I love your costume too, although I don't think I'd be brave enough to wear something that skimpy on such a cold day!" Paddy looked around for Magnus, and did a double take when she realised he was standing right next to her. "You make a fantastic Legolas," she said, "I didn't recognise you with that blond hair." Magnus appeared a little preoccupied, but Paddy wasn't sure if it was down to the last full moon, or something else considering that she'd overheard him talking about vampires. "You ok?"
Suddenly someone Paddy didn't recognise bumped into her. From the look of the outfit, she must have tripped on her long dress, and not for the first time given the girl's embarrassment. "Don't worry about it," Paddy said, realising she'd not come across this girl before, "that's one reason I avoided wearing a long skirt for this ball. I'm Paddy," she added.

Gauthier de Lisch
Half-Blood Gauthier de Lisch was born in 1871- his mother was eager for him to learn a ‘Muggle’ skill, so while revising for his OWLs, he chose to learn a musical instrument.
Picking the violin, he discovered he had a natural talent and quickly realised he could have an exceptional career. Abandoning his father’s hopes for him to hold a steady job in the Wizarding world, he soon became popular for what the Muggle audience described as a “magical” performance of some of the most challenging violin pieces known to mankind. He also liked to add in some more traditional songs to his shows, with the haunting Celtic melodies of Ireland and Scotland being his main favourites.
The peak of his career came in 1912 when he was invited to be the principal violinist on the maiden voyage of a new ship. He was still a fine musician, but after he’d turned forty he felt that the younger violinists were able to play better than him, and felt he needed to prove himself to still be the best violinist in the world. Jumping at the chance, he boarded the Titanic and thrilled the passengers with a recital of the newest pieces he’d learnt.
Unfortunately for Gauthier, when the Titanic struck an iceberg and sank, it took all the musicians with it. However, Gauthier was determined that the young violinists should not be able to benefit from his death, and returned as a ghost to ensure his haunting melodies would still be heard.
Paddy - Gryffindor

Audrey vaguely recalled seeing before, but couldn't quite place where it had been. "It's so nice to meet you. Well, minus the almost knocking you to the ground part." She glanced down at her shoes, already feeling as though she had overstayed her welcome. However, this was a night to move past her self-consciousness, even if it did have a rocky start.
"Erm, are you okay? I'm Audrey, and I'm not much of a dressmaker I'm afraid." Her lips curled into a sheepish smile. "Your outfit is just adorable, by the way." She said before tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. She wondered if the colours of Paddy's costume were an indication of her house. A fellow Hufflepuff, perhaps?
A twinge of worry then overcame her as she looked between the group, her eyes setting on the young man dressed as Legolas. She tried to ignore the comments she had overheard, but couldn't help hoping that he was okay...
"Thanks, and if you made that yourself, I think you're a great dressmaker!" Paddy replied, spotting the way Audrey's eyes settled on her yellow furry skin "before you ask, I'm actually a Gryffindor, but I charmed my fur to make me the right colour to come dressed as Winnie-the-Pooh."
Paddy waited for the words to sink in before she said anything else - she'd only just realised that Audrey might not already know she was the world's only werewolf that has a constant covering of fur even without the full moon.

"Oh you're so nice, thank you." Audrey's cheeks were just starting to fade from the flushed pink they had been. "Also that's rather interesting. It's a lovely colour too, it really brings out your eyes." Oh, great. That wasn't awkward at all. What are you doing commenting on a stranger's fur? The stranger you nearly just made hug the floor, no less? Audrey cleared her throat. "I'm uhm, sorry for staring. I was honestly trying to place where I've seen you before. Ah, are you--you're a prefect, aren't you?"
(( screech SOPHIE! tackles I love you. Have you read the book? There may have been a short event two or three times where I ended up playing Howl -- who is probably the only non-OC I've ever played, much less felt solid on.
I give up. You're Pooh, but that HA looks like a bee, not a raincloud. I can't figure this out. Halp.))
