() Garrett was surprised at Fable's answer. Sure, a part of him knew there were always going to be people who thought that way...hell, he had thought that way himself about the were-wolf, but to hear it from her lips brought the possibility into reality. He sighed as she pet his cheek, and turned his face to kiss her palm lovingly. She deserved someone so much better than he was....

( OOC: RL was being a pain yesterday, so Paddy didn't get a chance to arrive at the ball before the full moon - I'll make sure she turns up on Wednesday Tuesday (got my days muddled :P) though, as she has her costume all sorted out ready! )

“A vampire, really?” Not that Fade was questioning the truthfulness of the situation, he was more in awe at how so many people with special abilities could be collected in such a small space. “Like they showed up to crash the party, or like they attend classes? Cuz I’ve seen Buffy, I know where to poke em to make em go away.” In an attempt to demonstrate he pulled out his wand and held it like a steak. Although he wasn’t sure if his magical friends would get the Muggle reference, but considering how they were dressed, it was possible. With vampires about, it felt like anything was.

“Never met one myself, that I know of…” He had always had his suspicions about the incredibly well dressed man who lived up the street from him growing up, but that was before he knew magic was real. Thinking back on it gave him a chill to think perhaps his imagination could have been right. “Anyway I like your costume, you both look amazing.” He playfully flicked the dangly earring that hung from Magnus’s ()ear and grinned at Kat () and her incredible beard.

Aria looked up from her sweet treats with a guilty expression when she heard Magnus () call out her name. She quickly cleaned her mouth with a napkin and joined her brother, Magnus, for a bit as he socialized with the students.

When she got to the group of students Millie () took out her camera and handed it to Aria. "Would you take a couple of pictures so I can send one to my parents and another to Emmett? He is always begging for pictures of our events." Millie asked Aria while shoving the camera in Aria's ready hands.

"Sure, I love taking pictures!" Aria put the viewfinder up to her eye and stepped back to capture a well framed image. She took another few steps back and crouched low as Millie made funny gestures with some students. After taking a few more photographs, Aria handed the camera back to Millie. "If you need any more let me know," she offered before casting her gaze around the great hall, taking in all the amazing costumes that everyone had on.

"You know, it does appear that we are among the only people here without a date," Aria said with a wry smile. "It doesn't bother me, much. I do have Dax," Aria said while shaking her head. She pointed him out to Millie, as he stood in the corner scaring random people as they walked by. "He really loves events like these." she said with a soft chuckle.

"Why haven't you ever invited Emmett to the ball before though - is it too late to invite him?" Aria asked Millie.

Aria seemed to be having a good time, which was great because she hadn't seen him almost loose it thanks to the full moon. He was still outside with Kat and Fade, but when he did come back he planed on at least asking her for one dance.

"Attends here," Magnus said brightly, "I 'ad no idea. I asked Paul about vampires, but 'e won't say much. I can't wait to tell 'im. Though we are gonna not mention the near fight..." Magnus laughed, "me old 'eadmistriss 'ad some vampire romance novels on 'and. But I never thought I'd meet one." Then his friend was playing with his earing and Magnus snickered, "mum'll 'ave kittens if she knew I asked Paul to pierce it."

Millie took the camera back and stuffed it back into her hat. "Will do, thanks! I would love to have him come but he goes to Durmstrang and his classes are always in session when we have our balls.

"We told each other we could take dates to our balls but neither of us do. Mostly because I think we'd rather go with each other. And I'm pretty sure he is intimidated by the girls there". She laughed. "It doesn't bother me either. It gives us plently to talk about when we write to each other and when we meet up over breaks."

Nodding in response to Millie's() comment, Aria wished she could relate to her predicament but she couldn't. "I love your costume, by the way." Aria complimented her with a smile. "How are you not freezing?" Aria asked Millie while feeling grateful that she was wearing lots of layers. "I always find it extremely cold here in the Great Hall."

"Thanks!!" she said, truly proud of the transfiguration she'd done on her face. She smiled as the other girl took her arm and lead her away from the dorms, up the stairs and through the entrance hall. Her heart flip-flopped with excitement as they entered the Great Hall together and saw so many great costumes around them. Emmy began looking for people she knew and waved at Millie, who she noticed close by.

"What do you want to do first?" she asked Aderyn, raising her voice a bit to be heard over all the laughter and chatter.

[img align=right]https://i.imgur.com/mAHmt0f.png[/img] Paddy gulped down the last part of the healing potion and was relieved to hear she was deemed fit enough to leave the hospital wing. She'd been worried that the full moon would have resulted in a few more injuries, and delayed her being able to attend the ball until the last day or two. Hoping she hadn't missed any of the activities, she quickly headed for the dorms to change, before making her way to the Great Hall.

She had been tempted to dress as a werewolf, but decided that could be a little too creepy for some of her classmates, so she'd picked a cutesy outfit instead, dressing as her favourite Muggle cartoon character. Humming "I'm just a little black rain cloud", she made a bee-line (no pun intended :P) for the refreshment table, selected a few of the finger cookies and munched her way through them while trying to spot her friends.

Millie smiled. "Thanks! Honestly, I'm comfortable. I usually run on the warmer side. So do you want to go see what else there is before it gets too crowded?"

Millie saw Emmy, Aderyn, and Paddy walk into the Great Hall. She waved to all three. "You all look great!"

Unlike the previous balls, Professor Persnickety did not introduce the first act that night. Instead, three ghosts glided onto the stage after appearing through the back wall of the Great Hall and through the tall black pillars. The only woman, Serafina Bellini, took her place at the microphone. The violinist Gauthier de Lisch stood in front of the chair placed to her right. Adelheim Koller, the pianist, squatted down on the bench to a grand piano that appeared as they had entered the hall just to the left of Serafina.

The musicians started playing a classical sounding song, while Serafina floated, waiting for her cue. When she finally did begin, she sang in operatic fashion in a language that none of them recognized. It was hauntingly beautiful--enough to send chills up anyone's spine. The music crescendoed, and when it reached its loudest point, it switched from being a subdued opera to the equivalent of a rock concert. Serafina sang in English while Adelheim and Gauthier sounded like they were playing several instruments rather than just the piano and the violin.

Please note this is not the activity chosen by Slytherin - their challenge will come later in the week! Also I am having technical difficulties and was unable to make the ghosts transparent; use your imagination!)

Aria smiled at the offer from Millie. "Sure, what else is there? I thought all we did was dance and eat." Aria finished by stuffing the last bit of finger cookie in her mouth with a closed mouth grin.

Aderyn glanced around the entrance hall as she and Emmy walked into it and grinned brightly. Halloween was her favorite holiday and seeing all of the decorations and costumes made her heart leap. She waved to Millie as the other girl greeted them and she gestured to Millie's costume.

"You're looking awesome yourself!"

Mulling over Emmy's question, she gestured to the food table.

"Why don't we get some snacks to sustain us through our other activities?"

“It’s real?! Wicked, I’ll have to ask for one myself.” Fade wasn’t as friendly with Paul as some of the other students, but that wouldn’t stop him from asking, of course if he could remember. “Anyway, feeling better? Wana go back in?” Fade was eager to see more costumes and had only got one foot in the door before being whisked back outside. Kicking his tail out of the way for what certainly wouldn’t be the last time that evening, he grinned at his friends under the moonlight. Oh right, moonlight. Looking up at the glowing space rock he grimaced. “Or do you need to er… you know?” As much as he wanted to spend time with his best friend, Fade was more concerned with the other boys safety, and by extension the safety of others. Maybe he would get to ask Paul for a piercing sooner than he thought. ( / )

"Another fan of the Scoobies?" Kat asked, using a slang term for the core group in Buffy. "Excellent! If you like that, you might try Blood Ties. I've only found a few episodes, but what I've seen is good." The mention of the eating made her take a closer look. "Pretty cool, Magnus. I couldn't get my ears pierced. I'm a bit of a sissy with that sort of thing. No tattoos either. Temporary stuff and clip-ons will have to do." She looked at Fade, thoughtful. "You could definitely go for an earring or omething. I bet it'd look good. Speak in of, nice outfit. I'm thinking...video game? Or maybe anime? I can't quite place it, but the look is familiar."
