I thought that part of the form was just for people who are applying, not recommending. |D
oh you're recommending? I misread your post then, didn't read that big long recommendation word! hm that isn't answered. I assume it couldn't hurt :P
LOL I'd be a terrible mm. :') I'll leave it to people who aren't snarky lurkers. yeah I'll throw it in at the end just in case. but I figured I'd ask in case other people were wondering. :)
Am I the only one who thinks its silly that this is not a paid position? Not sure why people want to work for free. Just my 2 cents.
We are also required to have the swear filter enabled in order to report things that may need to be added to the filter.
And we are required to have the "Last Seen" module on our profiles and it cannot be set to "Hidden".
If anyone has any other questions about the position, you can send me a mail if you don't feel comfortable asking them on the forums. :)
It is rewarding to help out a site that you love :) besides, plenty of people work for free everyday--mothers/fathers, interns, etc. We are basically the interns of Subeta.
I think that they can actually see all posts in your forum whether official or not but it is possible they changed that when they made the distinction.

Interns should not have to work for free, and comparing a mod position to being a parent is not a good comparison imo. It's like asking an artist to work for free for "experience" and "exposure", and that is frowned upon and many professionals advise not to do that at all.
I can get what you are saying, it's a volunteer position. My beef here is you advertise it as hiring, when you should just say you are accepting volunteers. Yes it does say it is a volunteer position... under the information in the top post. I believe the correct words should be used. And the definition according to google:
hire ?h?(?)r/ verb gerund or present participle: hiring 1. employ (someone) for wages.
Not trying to be a pain here, just wanted to bring this up and hope that y'all think about it and possibly fix the wording. Cheers~
they do receive a form of compensation, they get a free GA.
Alanis Morisette came from Canada.
Still, Justin Bieber. Why did you have to give us Justin Bieber?
Good luck to everyone applying! :)
Sooo... what if you worked for Walmart and they decided to pay you in Walmart gift cards? It's really not the same.
No one works at Walmart because they want to make it a better place and they love being there.
That's beyond the point. If you get hired you expect to be paid. The point I was making is that they used the words for hire, when hiring means they would be compensated with wages. I was suggesting they change the wording to just volunteer, because volunteers love subeta and want to make it a better place.
Application Sent :D fingers crossed
They do say it's a volunteer position. It's not something that's ambiguous, as the term is used at least twice in the opening post.
I get what you are saying but they are also putting you on the team with some privileges/Responsibilities that you would have as a job. Cause even with it being a volunteer position, they are hiring you to be on the volunteer staff.
While they are not getting paid, they are apart of a group that helps out with the site and can be promoted to a paying job and they even state it twice that it a purely a volunteer job.
The issue is with the use of the word "hiring," the definition of which includes compensation. It's false advertising to say that you're hiring if the position is unpaid. You can't tell people you're giving away a free shirt, then when they enter your store, inform them that they have to buy 3 pairs of pants to get it. Tactics like this would make me even less likely to want to work with the party in question. The headline should have said "Seeking volunteers" or even "Looking for new Mini-Mods."
I brought this up on the last page as well, by the way, and my comment was conveniently skipped over.
it's hardly false advertisement, it's a semantic disagreement.
