Dude, I was soooo burned out by yesterday evening. I barely finished. But oddly enough, today I've caught a second wind! I'm in the process of re-hashing my plot 😊

Oof, that's the worst. That's why I haven't done NaNo the past few years - I LOVE having the word tracker, but I can't force myself to write like that without terrible consequences.

Woohoo!! Look at you go :D I'm glad your exhaustion was short-lived.

- That's great. Every time I've won nano in the past I've been too burnt out to even think about writing for all of december OTL. I think Not winning this year is going to be good for me. :)

- Yeah, after this year, I think I'll just make a more concentrated effort to write less, but more often. If I do that, maybe I'll actually remember half the things that I've written.

I've never had the motivation to do NaNo -- i'm just too slow and lax by nature. but even though i wasn't doing it, i made a lot of progress the last month on my current story, just writing in hotel rooms as we moved cross country. it's the best feeling when things start to come together. i think that's why i always start stories by throwing unplanned stuff at the wall, thinking "i can sort this out later", because the satisfaction of managing that triumphs over the bad form of Not Planning Anything

anyways, i'm at the point in the story now where i have time to kill. i need some "trials", just something a mundane hero would do in a medieval setting. they aren't meaningless, i'll tie them in to a villain that needs to be stopped later, but other than that i can't think of anything interesting to do for them. any ideas?

Go kill a dragon? Fight off the barbarian invasion? Travel to a distant land and conquer the natives?

So what else is everyone working on? 😊 I've been editing my NaNo novel but I think I'm burning out. Will probably focus on writing some short fiction in the near future.

It's basically an online workshopping site. You critique pieces, get "karma" points for your critiques, and then posting your own work to be critiqued costs your a certain amount of karma. Pretty cool system and there are lots of great writers!

That sounds really interesting! It's something I'd personally be way too afraid to attempt, but I can certainly see where that would be a great tool for a lot of folks.

- That sounds nifty! I might have to check it out. I feel like I don't write often enough because I don't have anywhere or anyone to share my stories with.
