yes, the inconsistency is why a I made this topic. It doesn't make sense to have a two weeks rule for abandoning when people can just avoid it by transfering the pets and let others abandon it.

Not to mention then the newbies start asking the older players to abandon a pet for them, adopt a pet and hold it for them, etc because they see things they want and can't get them for 30 days. They shouldn't have to look to older users to get pets that are just chilling away in the pound.

The inconsistency totally gives people a false sense of a loophole or something xD, while there's no real/serious reason behind all these restrictions...

I think it should be done away with entirely. If someone's going to make a troll pet name, no limit is going to exactly do away with that temptation if they're that insistent. It's not exactly newbie friendly any way you look at it.

And it's there because of "it's a good name" is honestly lame reasoning, imo. Who gets to decide the importance of a "good name"? The user base? Should we start deciding who gets what UN?

And there are good names that are open that they could just create, I mean Squilliam was completely open/not even off an inactive account when I created him, and that's a great name if I ever heard one. So what difference does it make if they just create a nice name or adopt an already existing one?

Using the names as an excuse is pretty weak. I mean if a certain user wanted a name that was in the pound it was fair game just like it was for everyone else and if they didn't adopt it then that was their fault. If a new user wants to adopt "pet x" then they should be able to because it's honestly not hurting anyone.

I agree one day isn't exactly an effective deterrent and that a week would be better.

i agree, three days to a week seems better. also a lot of people make actually good names during clearings with common kumos..es so maybe consider only implementing the ghosting system for newer accounts?

Some people like to create pets with awful names and then put them in the pound and they'll never be adopted because of their awful names, that's the "trolls" Keith was mentionning.

That's a nice change. Even though I think 1 day is a short time, but with the precautions Keith mentioned, like excluding pets that were created to be abandoned 1 day if fine.

Keith you're on a roll with great updates today. This will be really helpful since the last breakdown Neo had and users came here asking for help adopting. It's bound to happen again. But I agree that the wait time to abandon should be 3 days - 1 week.
