I know, and I hope with time, feeling more secure and safe those will lessen. But you and I both know there is no quick fix. As one service member to another, you know I cant sugar coat it. I know your a prayerful man, and maybe prayer and faith can bring a sense of being safe and you wont feel like you do anymore. Know that there isnt anything wrong with you, and that your feelings and action are the same as so many that have gone before you.

Military training will be with you for a long time. I have been out since 1984, I still react and think of things like am in the service still. I had one guy ask me, were you in the military. I asked him, what makes you think that. He told me you still talk like your military.

Well, we can pray for varying degrees of lessening the military instinct. But that instinct is what carried you to safety and kept those around you safe so many times. Carry your military training and service as a badge of honor that not many carry. Every time things come back on you, remember you served your country with pride and honor with no regrets.

I hope that you call and talk to each other, especially those you served with in a war zone. Why? Because they have the same thoughts, feeling and emotions about a particular event and there is no explaining. They just get it, and where your coming from more than any other person. I know the instinct is not to talk about some things that happen, but to put it down and recover from it sometime its what you really need. My older nephew talked to me, more in one conversation then he had ever said, to is parents. Because the main ingredient was not having to explain military terms, he just let it flow out and I could tell it helped.

Good night be safe on your trip. Helping your step mom is such good karma!

I know the feeling your talking about the Military never leaves you I am glad I joined the Army it taught me a lot shit I never would have got to experience any where else I was in the Infantry and we went on a lot of Field Exercises it was really cool firing some cool ass new weapons or some of the older stuff like a grease gun or old LAW rockets I enjoyed it very much I defended our country when called upon back in 1990 to go to Iraq and help free Kuwait from that crazy fuck Hussein

Congrats on recycle points! Through the military i got to see the world, I would have never seen since my service or after. I would have probably stayed in my state and never saw the other side of its border. My time in service enriched me in so many ways. I would have never got to out fire my company full of people on a machine gun, not bad for a girl!!! LOL My CO commanding officer came running at me all excited about it, not bad for a short girl who couldnt see over the top of a cement foxhole. I thought crap what did I do wrong now? No clue I had hit dead center target. Not bad considering I couldnt hold that darn machine gun right, due to my short stature. CO said, we go on field maneuvers your on point. He never did learn my secret, and I have chuckled for years over it.

I was always stationed in the same place for the time that I was in I was in Fort Riley Kansas right in the middle of the U.S. shoot we were always on training exercises from October until about June then a small break and then back to it again most of it was on post but we went to reforger and to NTC alot ... I was in a mechanized Infantry Unit that means we had personal vehicles that carried the troops they used to be 113 with a 50 cal. mounted on the top but then they came up with the Bradley Fighting Vehicle which can carry 11 Infantry Men it had a turret with a 7.62 machine gun on the right side and the main gun was a 30 millimeter chain gun and it also has a T.O.W. missle that can be lauched from the side of the vehicle that is some of the stuff I got to play with all the time

Never got to be in a tank, seriously disappointing. So would have been cool to fire some of the weapons you got to. I worked across from infantry country as we called it, on Fort Campbell, KY. Whenever they would have business on the other end of post near my company. The infantry guys would act like they were visiting an exotic land. One guy said, so this is where they hide all the girls on base. I had to laugh at him.

I only live about an hour from Fort Campbell I have never been inside post there I was in Fort Knox for my AIT training for Bradley I was a Turret Mechanic so I was the guy that had to make sure that all that stuff worked they way it spun to how it fired and how it was sighted I had a top secret clearance for a long time then we went to war with Iraq and then the Bradley was all over TV before that it had never been seen out in the public eye it was hidden from the world

Cool to known you had a hand in taking care of the Bradley, I think it was named after a General Omar Bradley that served here at Fort Bliss, Texas.

Oh I know white sands, NM. When it snows over here, I am the only snow rabbit out shoveling in my neighborhood and the locals look at me like a 2 headed giraffe at the zoo. I have had to tell people, the right way to get ice off their windshields, too. Only people in town know how to drive in the snow are those from out of state. Want to confuse the locals let it rain, they cant drive in it? Yep we say in El Paso, carry your umbrella, heavy coat and sandals never know what the weather will do concern parts of the season.
