I don't think speed need to be scrapped. It just has to be more useful than critical hits which is fine, but the opponents scale up 10 percent each time and quickly overshoot your pet's speed.

Some suggestions for speed (without the details which can be brainstormed later):

  1. Evasion Reduce incoming damage by 0-100 percent. Better chance with higher speed.

  2. Faster Moves This will require a change in turn mechanics, but there is are "Haste" moves in RPGs which allow you to lower your time to make a turn. For example: Equal speed = You, them, you, them Faster speed = You, you, them, you, you, them

  3. Stamina Regeneration This requires stamina points in battle. I haven't decided what determines its max value, maybe include level to make that more useful? When you don't have enough stamina, either you can't make a move, or your move will be less effective (dealing less attack or defense).

Edit: Congrats on your purchase :)

It seems keith realizes the problem with god weapons sort of, and the battle admins have also said they wish they didn't exist. Be that as it may, any changes to that would likely require a comprehensive reform of at least the entire weapon system, which would hopefully pave the way for possible fair pvp with high tier weapons, but also would need ridiculous amounts of attention, which isn't likely. Else new challengers would just need to be released along side 2 weapons with viable icon typing that are obtainable by some other means >.< Perhaps one day, when battling becomes much more popular, it will receive much more staff attention and a comprehensive reform would be possible!

congrats :O it didn't take you long at all to save for it :D

I kind of remember that back in the day when there was reflection, the godlies were not really necessary (because there were weapons that could reflect or full block heavily) and they changed hands more frequently and for a lot less. (I'm not endorsing reflection by the way, good riddance to percentage reflection)

The thing is, you can't please everyone. There are people who gripe about releasing more, and those who about them being near impossible to obtain and in the hands of relatively few people. I think the staff knew they opened Pandora's Box with creating them, and now it's going to cause arguments as there's no turning back.

it makes sense, really (and I'm sure it's been said before). They should have done that from the get-go, but now that they've let people stay capped for so long/hoard the exp it would be kinda cruel to forcefully take it away.

Now, if they came out and said they'd raise the cap to x right now today BUT every point of exp on every capped pet would be desolved-- then, I'd bite that bullet. Otherwise it'd be cruel to leave the door open for this long just to take it. Going forward, though, it needs to happen.

Yeah but.. since we can't get rid of them, the solution isn't to make them MORE important y'know? Like if you get a stomach ulcer from drinking 24 cokes a day (true story, I knew a guy in HS who killed his stomach lining via coke intake never trust something that can clean a car battery or blood off pavement) you don't bump it up to 36 cokes a day and hope for the best, you kill the habit!

Or, you find alternatives that're better for you and don't try and (literally) kill you. I think many of the recent weapons were a step in a great direction (like the PBBs that're very handy, and the Tainted Keeper Skull Staff/Bladed Gauntlet/Unstable Sample Syringe) but most of those will never get a chance to really be used when the cap has hindered the ability to try and be creative.

It's basically gods or gtfo, now. I also do understand that having an "end game" is more appealing to newer battlers-- but can you imagine how many capped rotting pets there will be by the time they get here? To know that the end game is literally a dead end unless they start saving for something that'll never actually get sold by that point in time?

Plus, if a PvP ever happens they can just deal with it like Pokemon does-- cap it within the battle itself (it's easier with that, they can just go by level-- here, there would have to be an input field).

PS: Congrats on the Natasha ! That was one of the best investments I ever made, I love that thing-- I hope it serves you well!

Thank you honestly hearing others praise the weapon really makes me feel even better about owning it. I've been testing it out, loving it so far, just need to tweak the mods. Just got my ticket answered and got my war plate as well. May never use it but extra defence items are always nice for just in case battles.

I agree on some points, but I would argue that having already capped a pet, means there is MORE room for creativity. I for instance, am working on a pet now which has ~0 speed since I can't train my main any more, and also have plans to make a ridiculously offensive build after that. Obviously this doesn't appeal to everyone etc etc, but it is an option. Also I think that pvp could very likely become the end game in a much more successful way than absolutely anything else and even with the battle system exactly like it is now, that players ourselves would come up with our own rules to balance it out, like smogon did. As far as no xp after the cap, I forgot to comment on that before, but I think that's a pretty good idea, it encourages people to raise more than one pet from the get go so that they're not passing on BQs after their pet caps, but it would basically need to be a system that does completely wipe your xp out after you cap, because right now, I'm saving up tons of xp for the cap raise even though I've been a few hundred points and counting from the cap for quite some time and just training a point a day through the training center since the cap raise keeps getting put off anyhow >.<

Understandable. I have PoBow as well I just couldn't bear to part with it. I'll still use it for the curse/freezing and hey when my smaller pets hit tier 10 they can enjoy a good fire blocker before getting to the big gun. Good luck with deciding what to get.

The main problem with focusing on other builds is it really takes an astronomical amount of time to build pets, if it even took a year or two to get from start to end then that wouldn't be SO bad but it takes so long to even get to the point where you'll find out if 0 speed would blow up in your face or not y'know? (not saying that it will, and it'll be interesting to see what happens-- but it takes a while, a long while).

It can happen overnight (and it has, at great cost haha) but a lot of users have other interests as well, and to expect people who dabble/tinker to devote so much of their resources for something that may or may not be worthwhile, is why so many people find it hard to get into battling in the first place. Telling them to do it again so they can find out in 4 years if this is the uber build is just... well it's easier to not bother at that point.

Yeah I did keep up with BQing for a few months after I capped, figuring eventually Craig could use that exp from the things Max can't beat (see: Prod), but as the cap being raised became more of a figment of my delusional imagination I just... meh. Why. So I can cap more pets that can't do anything/might be able to in a few years but I won't know until then? It's easier to just let my armory collect dust and busy myself with other stuff.

Well for me personally, it will be worth it even if the build turns out to be completely not viable for anything useful. I've played a lot of different games where after maxing out a character, rather then play end-game content over and over I would instead make a new character in a different way, even if it did take ridiculous time to make the first one. And even still I've played games where after finishing my first character, it turns out it was never viable from the beginning or the end-game with that type of build isn't fun so I have to make another character >.< Subeta does have a ridiculous time frame for capping but I think that encouraging new people to train multiple pets from the get-go would be a future part-solution for those that would consider trying more creative builds. Really though, pvp would probably quiet everyone down even if the stat cap raise is still subeta "soon" away from now -.- And I like to mention it as much as possible because buzz word lol. It's probably the only solution that no one would argue against for the time being as well XD.
