Makes sense to me :3
LOL okay :) My total was really depressing anyway. Hard, hard scene to push through x_x The POV character and I are both begging for it to be over with...
- haha. Yeah, I got 42 words written by my count! I'm also writing an awkward scene right now, it'll probably get cut later
I have to have this scene, or one like it. It gives insight into one of my antagonists and why she's such a jealous piece of work who's now out to meddle with all three MCs. I ended up with 326 after the 20 minute run.
- sounds ick. Anyway, I am not being productive right now, I think I might just sleep and try to get a bunch of writing done tomorrow morning! So tired!
I'm gonna keep pushing on. Sleep well! Hopefully tomorrow is nice and productive for you :)
Keeping a fire going in the stove is definitely going to impact my writing habits... At night it's completely up to me to keep it going so I am forced to take a break at regular intervals to check on it. I haven't decided if it is hurting my productivity or helping it, but knowing I've got it to contend with means I will probably try to get more done in the afternoons.
Anyway, my word count hasn't gone up much yet tonight - though I am solidly past the 14k mark now and that's great - but I've been working on pinning down the sources of conflict in my projects as well as what kind of things will happen to cause drama. After I enter that info in and elaborate, my count should go up another 500 words or better.
[edit] -chuckles- Well, that's probably not gonna happen again. I finished my writing for the night exactly 1000 words above my end count yesterday. Getting close to the 15,000 mark now. Yippee!
Thank you. :) I threw a completely unexpected new character in there, and it helped a bit. I don't know if it gave the story any progress, but at least it added to the word count. :P
A whole day of writing ahead of me... I wonder if I can get to 30k today. I have to finish two drawings for my friend by Thursday evening and I have an exam tomorrow as well, so I'm a little stressed out.
I don't know if use contractions a lot but after checking my file and editing them out I gained about 150 words towards my count.
For me, smoothing out plot points or thinking up things I want to see happen later in the story can help with the flow of writing and in this case it would help the word count if you write it in the midst of the story (inside of brackets perhaps) or in a separate part of the file. (These things should totally count because it is writing for your story.)
I've been doing this for a while with my stories before NaNo and I know it can help me get unstuck. I'm able to step away from a scene for a while and can come back to it later with a more educated perspective, in terms of what is happening with the rest of my story.
Either way, I hope you are able to reach your 30k goal and that you do well on your exam. -nods-
When you are stuck for words and you just can't seem to find a way to move your story along, but you want to keep your word count up for the day, write out a character sketch if you haven't done so already. Character sketches are awesome ways of learning more about your character, who they are, what they do and how they would react. Often a character sketch can defibrillate a stalled story and get you moving again.
Keep writing NaNos!
I broke 30k last night, which is the par for today. I'm actually a day and a half ahead, it just doesn't look like it because I do all my writing in the evening XD Hats off to all the overachievers on the NaNo site with 50k+ words already. Crazies :)
I'm glad it helped you move forward! Change the dynamics a bit of how the characters interact and deal with a new person :3 If this person makes things easier, or harder, or snores and so nobody else can get any sleep at night... lol
Supposed to be at 30k today. Ugh, still 6000k away, how did I let myself fall further than three days behind again! Yesterday was no good, hopefully today will be better!
Whoops! Time to turn on the gas I suppose :) You can do it!
- yup. I HAVE to be caught up today, because tomorrow was the day I was going to take off to work on my costume.
Yeah, definitely sounds like it's time to get cracking. What costume? :3
- I'm trying to update my flannery costume to the new ORAS version. :) It's really similar to the old one, but different enough that I have to remake everything! lol. The only thing I've done so far is the shoes! I'm hoping to get it done for the small convention happening next saturday, a week after the new game release!
Admittedly I had to Google that (wow I feel really old right now). Looks like a fun costume though :D Quite the wig I bet.
Now that we're a bit more than half way through the month, how is everyone doing with their goals? :)
About a day and a half ahead on schedule but only maybe 1/6 through my novel - daunting!!
How's it going for you?
Fantastic! I'm actually not participating this year, or I would've been in here more often. Have some family illness things going on here that are distracting, plus my own back problems.
I'm sorry to hear that :( I hope everything evens out for you soon.
Maybe we could keep this thread alive through into December? I know it would help me stick to my writing to have other folks alongside :) That might give you a chance to hang out and get some words in, too.
