I... work in the travel industry. I don't really make very good money but at least my company gives decent benefits and I get sick leave and paid vacation and stuff. Ultimately I would, more than anything, like to be a full-time writer. I'm just one of those people who needs constant encouragement and other people who help me to stay focused. If my girlfriend didn't look over at me every evening and say "so, how many words have you written today?" I probably wouldn't ever get anything done x_x

Thank you ^^ I'm really happy to have less than 10k to go. I'm positive that you can catch me easy, though. You're amazing about getting a lot of words out! Even if we're in the week 3 (week 4?) "wall of doom" zone still, I bet the ideas have just been piling up in your head while you've been busy :3

- I have a friend in a similar position. She recently quit her job to focus on writing. It's tough, but I admire anyone who is strong enough to put everything else aside and say they're going to go for it! I also have zero benefits in my job, so there is that trade off. If I'm not working, I'm just not getting paid, and I have to get my own health insurance. I still haven't done that, I should.

Wow, that's impressive. I couldn't do that at this point in my life... my girlfriend is supportive but we need both incomes to get by. Seattle is not a cheap city...

Oh definitely. When you have a stable spot like that, yeah, you can risk quitting your job and just going for it. It would take a lot for me to quit my job at this point... even if I got published I would probably keep my job for a while longer just because I've been working there for going on 9 years now and seniority is a great thing.

Think a war would help you power through?

- Yes, seniority is pretty nice. Wish I had some of that about now. Working weekends is a drag. Maybe? A word war might help me get into writing mode at least!

I absolutely appreciate the people who work weekends, because it is one of the roughest things out there.

I spent yesterday lurking on Subeta and sleeping intermittently. I was feeling so tired for some reason. Thankfully I am feeling better today. I don't think I'm gonna really get anywhere on my projects -got a few big questions to answer about plots- but I have some potential ideas that I can type up.

Sometimes sleeping is the best thing you can do for yourself :) At least you've got some things you can go ahead and type up!

Yeah, I wasn't gonna be able to get much done anyway. The only thing I was particularly successful at while I was awake was being irritable. LOL

I'm not sure how things are gonna go with my word count yet. It's storming outside and I've got a nervous cat. I can't bring myself to kick her out of my way so I'm kinda just messing around on Subeta right now and jotting down a few notes. (I'm not very good with bad weather either so I don't think I'd be able to focus anyway.)
