Birthday week here. Started today with a visit to my other hairy boys.. Paco & Polly the alpaca's. I had a wee bit of a rain shower on my head while being busy with them but i forgive the weather. Also helped moving the pony's to another paddock.

yeah unfortunately there are strays all over. I have 3 of my own and 2 dogs. I can’t hardly afford them for vet, preventative and food with this economy.

Thanks for the well wishes! I had such a nice day. My son and I made homemade enchiladas for my birthday lunch and banana pudding for desert. My Dad gave me some money and I want to pay a bill and get some new jeans. My friend Rox gave me some too and told me to find a funny shirt. My son took me to the range and I really like going there. I did very well, improved since last time. And this was awesome because I fired a lot more and actually hit the same holes on both targets a number of times! Wow, proud of myself. After trying out several weapons, I narrowed it down to a Walther PDP. I really liked it best overall. Maybe sometime this year or the beginning of the next I can get one.

and Oh yes vet visits are so expensive. We can't take ours as much as we would like, but they do get there sometimes. And they are always loved, fed, and comfortable and once in awhile treated for fleas. :) We have worked with Feral Friends for many years getting feral cats spayed/neutered/shots. We haven't been able to go lately, and when we have someone takes up the entire number they will allow so we can't get the cats here fixed. Its really wonderful that people will do that for ferals, but there should be a limit each person can bring so others can get it done. We already have to trap them which is not easy sometimes and then show up two hours early to even be in line. They could do things better. But they are lifesavers, so I shouldn't complain. :)

- Yeah, vet costs are only climbing. And many of the low-cost vet clinics that ran mostly on volunteer work have shut down in this region because vets just...don't wanna do that much work for nearly a third what they want to charge.

But then that leads to a booming feral cat colony and overrun shelters, so like. Problem's just making itself.

I can't really link a picture of our new one, but he's a dark tabby with a spiral coat patter and white underbelly and feets. And no tail. Not even a nub.

Sounds interesting! So he's a rumpy. Is he a Manx?

- He's got Manx in him at the very least. A lot of the stray cats in this area have nubs or no tails at all. More so the males than anything.

My vet is trying to make sure I don't need to go for a visit each time I need my bird's wings trimmed. Not only will doing it myself save a long trip but also saves on expenses.

Even though I'm nervous she pointed out I was able to poop one of my parakeets which not everyone can do.

That is an interesting name. Any story behind it? If the vet teaches you the proper way to trim the wing feathers, that's wonderful. She thinks you can do it right or she wouldn't teach you. <3 I understand its very important but not really complicated. But I've never done it or seen it in person either.

You made me spit my tea! lmao!!! The thought of you firing a shotgun while blind and your hubby anywhere around I completely understand why he says no! Ha! That said I have heard of targets that use sound in some way but it isn't exactly the norm. But with you out in the country it could be made to work. Oops, I can hear your hubby saying, "No!" from here tho. Snicker I like guns, but I freely admit that honestly I know next to nothing about them. I have a very healthy respect for them and they should always be properly handled and used. There are a LOT of idiots around me that shoot them off for any vestige of a reason - in the air or otherwise - and they are exactly the ones that should not have any firearms. My brother has always been a collector and he and his friends used to go hunting a lot. I like eating the venison or whatever he shoots, but hunting is not for me. My son has become a collector too and he restores them for people as well. I want a gun because I like to shoot and for safety and protection if the necessity ever arises. I was attacked long ago and it took 20 years before I would sit anywhere without my back to a wall. I'm much more relaxed now, but I still think about it.
