Oh wow, I could not imagine crayons in the current Skreev's TC lol. An interesting character with a cool name, I was wondering what meaning it had, love that you added that into the story!
That's so cool that you've created 99% of your pets yourself! It's really interesting to see how adoption vs creation tends to line up with where we get our pet-spiration!
Some of the name changes make sense, then you come to ones that are totally different and I'm very curious about the characters they were vs are now LOL.
Excited to see Mango's story! :D
I'm sorry that work has been so overwhelming lately, I know what that feels like and it becomes a drowning exhaustion when it goes on for too long. I hope things improve very soon! I'm also sorry to hear that you had to rehome one of your pups, that can be very hard. But if everyone's quality of life improves because of it then it can be the best decision. Yay for cherries! (I think, yes?). What do you do with them? My husband Johnny makes mead and now I'm wondering if he should try a cherry one this year! His seasonal cranberry is my favorite!
Just kind of a short check-in from me for week 17 XD
I work in a library, and summer is typically our busiest time of year - kids are out of school, people are taking vacations and want some things to read or listen to, plus the usual workload of people checking out books and getting things printed off...plus in this particular location we're frequently short-staffed, so free time during the work week is hard to come by.
That said, I have carved out a little time each day to draw - I keep a sketchbook out in my car and draw in it on my lunch break. (Weather permitting, of course. Summer here usually means it's too hot to stay out for long, but there's been days where I so desperately needed to sketch that I just ran the AC in my car anyway XD ) It's not much, less than an hour a day, but it's more than I was doing before, and I'm having more fun with it. Mostly what I do is play around with character design. About 3-4 sketches is about all I have time for, but I try something different in each drawing - hairstyle, facial features (especially eye, nose, and overall face shape) (I still can't draw chins worth a crap but they're getting better!)
What that means for Subeta specifically is different looks for my pets, both their animal and human forms. I still poke at the story from time to time, you never know when inspiration might strike (I got a great idea yesterday...but not for the Subeta story XD)(I jotted it down anyway, will get to it later)
I also made some more specific goals - at some point I want to brush up on my coding (I haven't done that since HTML got largely phased out) and customize my profile page first, then move on to some of my pets. The profile page I want to do first mostly for practice, but also to group my pets more specifically. I've got both fan pets and original characters that are part of my big story, and I want to make it more clear which is which. Though depending on how the story goes, I may wind up crossing over some of them anyway ^^;;;
So...a bit slow progress, but it beats nothing XD
Hello friend! I love libraries! We grew up going to our local libraries usually more than once a week lol. When I was probably around middle school age we even got one in our town so we didn't have to drive as far to visit one of the other two! We still went to them sometimes though. But oh, I have so many wonderful memories growing up in libraries and have an immense appreciation for them.
My sister worked in local and university libraries for probably a decade and I remember how she would talk about the pros and cons and how crazy it could get! I'm so glad you still find time for your art!
Ohhh I just started working on learning coding! The CSS Compendium has been a huge help for me with pet profiles! And it has user profile information too. I love the idea of being able to separate pets on the user profile by story, it makes my brain happy to have them clearly grouped like that! Right now I have my pets "grouped" in my mind and they are next to each other, but of course everyone is still all in one single blob.
Slow progress is still progress! And if you're enjoying it then that's what matters most!
I remember I used to have a list of names that I hoped would eventually clear. I think the day non-uniques became a thing might've been my happiest as a Subetan. I never could stand numbers or underscores (started out on Neo and some of those first few pets I had there...yikes.)
The funny thing is, I feel like I could have twice the pet names I do and still be coming up with new character ideas. Subeta just has so many amazing pet designs. (And I have an overactive imagination, clearly.)
I know some of the characters I scrapped included a girl who worked at a senior center and loved helping the residents with puzzles (the pet's name was Puzz or Puz, something like that.) I also had Saur at one point, who was going to be a Land Before Time fan pet. (I still might do a dinosaur-themed pet along those lines someday.)
Yes...there are so many days, if I could just stay home and enjoy my place, I would take advantage. I like my work and I'm part of a great team but even so...I wish we had more holidays in a year. Or that four-day work weeks would become a widespread thing.
We found out today that rot got into our grove (boo!). Thankfully, the trees are still healthy but we lost about 80% of our crop. Normally, we'd freeze and use the cherries over the winter. We do a homemade cherry pie filling that's as good as the stuff in the can. We have a decent amount left from last year's crop but it's annoying that we'll have to spend the next year (or two) watching these trees and doing heavy pruning. On the plus side, I think our raspberries are going to break our harvest record. (I love raspberries!)
Cranberry mead sounds amazing. I'll bet that makes a nice addition to the holidays. =)
By the way, that's so cool that you get to work with dogs. My dream job when I was a kid was to be a dog trainer or maybe run a boarding kennel. (Until I got older and realized I was...not cut out for business.) I'm so sorry you have to deal with burnout. I went through it badly with my last employer - longer and longer hours and a nasty boss.
I also hope you feel better soon. There's a lot to love about summer but the heat and mosquitos...definitely not on that list.

I'm SO glad Subeta moved to a NUN system. Even though I'm all LNs atm, this system works much better for everyone versus a small part of the community.
Ugh yes! I have a running list of pets I'd still like to create because the art and designs are just so dang good here! I love that you have so many creative ideas all the time!
I had a dinosaur pet too lol, scrapped them. The nursing home character sounds so sweet!
I'm sorry about the rot! That's a bummer. I hope the trees remain healthy! Ohhh yay for raspberries! Yes, he does spices and cranberry for the holiday and I always ask him to make more each year because it's soooo good. The downside of mead is it takes forever to be ready, so he has to start in summer if we want it at the end of the year. Worth the wait but I'm impatient and want access to it all the time lol.
Thank you! It's an amazing job and I'm grateful for it. I get to run my own business, which means I get to help guardians and shelters / rescues and have a lot more control over things. I just have a bad habit of saying yes to far too much and overwhelming myself. But I'm working on changing that and creating a sustainable system that looks at all the areas of my life not just work! I totally understand the bad boss thing. Part of why I decided to start my own business was because I had two bosses in a row who were truly horrible bosses and I got very tired of pouring myself into my roles only to have my development cut off by selfish people who were taking out their own issues on their employees. I'm still heartbroken some days that I had to leave my dream job at the zoo because of the final boss I had there. It was everything to me and I would have stayed for so much longer - I had so much more to give and get. But, I also know I'm where I am supposed to be and try to let go of the "could have been" so I can focus on and appreciate the "is".
And thank you! I'm glad to be feeling a bit better than a week or two ago. Yeah, it's already feels like over 100 here some days with wild humidity and bugs galore. At this point my outside lessons are at like 8am and 7:30pm haha. There are pros and cons to all places though. I totally understand the snowbirds - moving north and south with the best seasonal weather sounds brilliant!
Week Seventeen Share, Celebrate, Inspire
It's another "check in" week - share what you've been up to with your pets!
Have you recently gotten a pet spotlight ready? Not quite, but making progress! I’ve been working on Tierna’s profile, and I suppose technically he’s ready to go, but I was thinking of rewriting his profile at least since right now I’ve just copypasted a part of his journal there. I made his custom overlay official custom overlay, been building his TC (anyone else here wanting to create colour-coordinated and thematically fitting TCs that are concise, and then ending up with like 70 items anyway?
I also created Valerian who is relevant to Tierna’s story (DND-campaign), and been particularly inspired to work on his profile as well.
Reached a specific goal in your training, achievement gaining, or job? Made some progress with a profile or TC?
I did, actually! My gourmand pet finally ate 5k foods and I’ve started to be a little more systematic with feeding him, actually remembering to do that at least once a day. I’ve got a “fridge” gallery where I keep food items I’ve collected that he hasn’t eaten yet, and I’m slowly chipping away at that.
I started doing the achievement originally just to get my hands on this item but honestly now I’ve kinda forgotten why. I do have a pet with pretty pastries etc in his TC, I should work on that sometime.
Feeling "stuck" and unmotivated? Looking for some ideas when it comes to a story or TC? We get that! Let us encourage you and make you feel seen!
Actually, this is about the most motivated I’ve been in a good long while, I even had to get myself a GA just so I don’t blast through my savings too fast when filling TCs and getting potions, lol. I usually only ever do that when I know I can be committed to doing dailies etc.
Additionally, feel free to drop a "real world" update! How are you doing?! Anything we can celebrate or support you in when it comes to the real world?
I’ve been working my ass off helping my best friend with her wedding and being in charge of the illustrations and whatever graphic designs are needed, and finally I have time for myself for a little while before the wedding (I love her and her future wife to bits but it’s also good to get some time off, lol :’D ). My summer vacation just started, my balcony is perfectly pastel, I’m enjoying my morning cup of coffee with a book in my hand and surrounded by flowers. Could be worse!
SPOILER (click to toggle)
hello everynyan, running late as usual 😔
n...no 😔 haven't been doing much beyond my super bare bones daily list the past week or so. irl's been a Lot recently (good and bad, mostly just Working lmao).
i guess i did start Eliel's profile but i'm not 100% happy with it (and also not sure what happened to the cursor...? did firefox nuke cursors or smth?)
i'm definitely stuck on Klaxon's story, i like what i have so far but i'm unsure where to Take It yfm?
pet death
we lost our roommate's cat the other week (my partner and i mostly took care of him tbh), so i'm still reeling a lil from it. thankfully not as bad as when it first happened but.
doing alright otherwise, have a lot of fun things planned for july :]
banner by Tierna looks so gorgeous. The artwork is stunning and I love the color-coordination and feel of the TC and profile. Ohhh, Valerian is a great name and their profile and TC are making me feel relaxed and happy. LOVE.
CONGRATS! That's a huge achievement! And I think the "fridge" is such a great idea! In working on my current job goal for everyone I've found that being systematic and breaking things up into digestible daily actions makes it so much easier and less annoying (I mean, it gets repetitive for sure lol).
Aw, that's so lovely that you're helping your best friend with her wedding! It's such a honor and so nice to be a big part of someone's special and hopefully once-in-a-lifetime (totally here for divorce, just always wish for folks that things work out for life!) day, but it is a lot of work too!
Your balcony looks so charming and light! What a perfect place to spend your time and channel creativity!
There's no "late" in my book anymore LOL. I have absolutely at this point in my life sent a text before that read "I'll be there 10 minutes late because that's who I am as a person" hahahaha. One of my clients and I are both chronic-time-strugglers and just have a general agreement that "within 15 minutes" of the stated time is equal to "on time". Love folks like that who make life so much less stressful.
Sometimes it's good to be involved in a lot irl, even if we miss you here! But I hope you get a nice balance of free time and working / committed time soon! That balance is so good for our long term happiness and health, even if we spend the free time doing something other than subeta!
I know you had asked for TC ideas for those two:
TC Ideas
Klaxon
Eliel
I think some of these (for both TCs) are holiday shop items. If you need any of those and don't have enough of that currency let me know! I have a good amount for several places and am happy to send things your way!
Eliel's profile is so nice and soft, any ideas on what is sticking out to you as "not quite right"? I'm in that boat atm with Looseleaf and Wholebean - I like what I've done so far but I'm not satisfied. Not sure what it is I want to change though so I guess I may have to play around with things until something clicks.
Seriously love Klaxon's profile and the graphics you've included in his story, it really creates the right feel. The story is really good! I see what you mean though, it does feel like it needs an "ending". While I think there's plenty of room which such a cool concept to go into detailed directions of plot, I also think it makes sense to find that "right" wrap up paragraph and let the focus be on what you've already written with the final piece just being the bookend that gives a feel of what is "next" for the character (reader).
Ideas
Maybe he goes to freak out his jerk friends who abandoned him? To give idea:
"the way you see it, you have two options: you can mope for the rest of your life, bemoaning your lot... or you can embrace it. you can become what they and even yourself hated.
They ... those who abandoned you to the terror of the rift, to become this monstrosity. The rest of your days is a decision for another time. First, you have some friends who deserve a visit."
Maybe he goes to find others who have come back out of the rift? To give idea: the way you see it, you have two options: you can mope for the rest of your life, bemoaning your lot... or you can embrace it. you can become what they and even yourself hated. Perhaps there's less to hate than you have once foolishly assumed. This new form was rich with power, crackling along the grotesquely misshaped form. You had heard the rumors; you aren't the first, and those who had gone before have become legend. You could feel it in your body, you had all the time in the world now. You brought back something in your DNA that will outlive stars and solar systems. Plenty of time then to follow the rumors, to track down the other monsters and find what secrets the rift had left whispering in the back of their minds, to see if they could make sense of what now whispered in yours. All the time in the world to unlock the mystery. At least it beats sitting around moping, you assume.
I'm so sorry for your loss. hugs (or preferred way to feel affection and support from a friend). There are sadly no words that truly bring comfort in the face of a hurt like this. I hope you find some healing <3 Glad you have lots of fun coming in July to help!
Sorry for being absent lately! A few of my friends started playing Valheim and got me to start playing it again and it's a HUGE time sink lmao. When I finally get myself on here, I've basically been fiddling with profiles until I'm too tired to do anything on the social side lol. BUT I did finish two pets up over the past week and a half!
[pet not found] Added art. :') Chibis aren't my forte but I wanted to give it a go! Her profile doesn't have as much content as I usually like to include but I think I prefer it that way? She's kind of a 'one-shot' character, I guess, rather than one of my more developed OCs. I just wanted a cute pink demon girl... Aleron Made another new personal template inspired by the Toyhouse profile style. I've had this guy's art & basic description done for like... four years but I've never really settled on a profile for him until now, but I think I can call him finally done. I also finally got over myself and made Morgan a steamwork hipottu!
I have another pet profile I'm working on but I pretty much don't put up anything with profiles until the layout is done (I work on all the coding using the preview profile button & the Stylus extension on Google Chrome lol), so can't really show anything yet.
OH I also got Valentine to 666 in all stats besides level and intelligence, ahaha. I already had her in the low 600s and I thought it was a funny idea. I am very pleased that it worked out without having to use any boosters or anything!
My plan for this week is to try to slightly revamp an older character of mine who is a pet here. A lot of my older characters here are pretty ordinary-looking human characters and my taste in design has changed since my teenage years, so I've been looking over my list to try to figure out who I can change up a bit. It's so dumb - this group of characters all started off as anthro Neopets, then I made them humans because I was "being more serious about OCs" or something, and now for some reason I'm having a hard time doing another species change kinda thing. Why, brain, why.
Fellarka looks really nice, I love how clean her profile is and how the (very pretty) TC is shown off so nicely. 'u'
Oooh could I see your pet progress sheet? I had one of my own once, I need to redo it one of these days...
Also, kudos for joining me in Genetech job hell, haha. I'm still working on getting Morgan to the top position and it's sooo slow!!
Tierna is AMAZING, I loved checking out the links and reading about his character, he's so freaking good?? And the art is SO gorgeous, and his design is just,,, god I just love him so much.
Also that balcony photo is soooo pretty, I am really jealous.
I'm so sorry for your loss ;; Pet death is so hard.
Eliel and Klaxon are looking so so good! I really love the use of graphics for Klaxon especially, it just adds so much to the vibe, and the vibe is So Good omg. I like where the story leaves off and how open it is!
Hmm the cursor on Eliel's profile isn't working, but the one on Lolo's profile still is, so I wonder if it's an issue with the URL or something? I don't know if you'd be able to host it somewhere yourself maybe.

I'm so avoidant of starting any new games because I worry they'll be too much of a time sink LOL. I have chosen "dogs" as my hobby and whoops, there goes my time. xD
Nominated Val! She looks great, such a fun profile and the art looks fabulous! Aleron is a very cool character and that profile looks awesome! I did notice that the "nominate pet for spotlight" text isn't centered under the other sidebar text and the stats box / the minion are visible to the right of the side bar between the bg and the content. Not sure this was what you intended? LMK if you need my laptop and browser specs. Yay for Morgan's new looks!
Thank you! I'm really happy to be finally learning how to do some of the coding from (almost) scratch and am excited to continue to shape profiles. I would love to start working on art as well, but that requires more investment and is a talent / skill I would have to work hard at to feel happy with what I could make. I did Looseleaf and Wholebean now and think I'm finally happy with their profiles (with the exception of adding in the placement for the spotlight once I turn nomination on).
Here is the progress sheet I made! It has three sheets - overall, job, and other info. Feel free to use the template if you find it helpful!
OMG it's SO slow, and such a slog for 54 pets at once hahaha. I'm at the point of thinking "why have I done this to myself" daily xD Some ideas I now have for future Subeta:
Additional Updates: has an art store open here! Here's a fresh invite link for our Discord chat
I'm looking for a few items for Wholebean's TC and figured I'd see if anyone had any of them for trade / sale before buying from shop search (I already tried the wanted forum)
Seeking These Items
Would love to trade for items in this shop or for items I can buy with QPs or trinkets! Otherwise please just lmk price and I'll lyk if I can swing it! :D
Also commissioned and got an adorable piece of Nicco! I re-did Nicco's profile and am pretty happy with it. Working on story and TC now! The TC will be a long process but I'm excited about it.
I have five pets who are pretty much just waiting for me to finish their stories, but for some reason I've been avoiding writing -.- In the meantime I'm just trying to save some funds back up, finish some TCs, and keep learning how to do more with profiles!
I'm crazy proud of myself this weekend for finishing four pets!
For Judge, Skreev, and Skula, it was mostly finishing up the final details for their profiles. Mango's story needed a few tweaks plus her profile needed work. I love long holiday weekends. =)
I probably won't get too much else done in July but I'm okay with that.
It's also so motivating to browse all the amazing pets other members of Pet Prompts have posted. ❤
I have if you still need that one. Unfortunately, the only item in your shop that I need is . Hoping that one gets re-released at some point because 32 million...yikes.
I could do 600k if that would work for you. :)
P.S. Love your spreadsheet! I have an Excel sheet where I track which pet needs what. I color-code based on where I'm at with story, TC and profile. (Green for done, yellow for WIP, and red for not started yet.) It feels great to be able to change those boxes over to green when I accomplish a goal.

Wow, congrats on getting four pets done! That's great! I also get a lot of inspiration by poking around everyone's pets, it's so nice to see all the creativity!
I'd love to grab the tea for 600k! Thank you. I'd be happy to offer the bun to you at a 50% discount, but no pressure because I know it's expensive as heck!
Thank you! I've tweaked mine a few times but am pretty happy now with it. It helps me to focus on certain goals, though sometimes I just seem to have a "wall" that I run into (happens with "real life" things too).
As far as a progress update, I haven't been writing so those pets are still "sitting", but I did adopt Shomari (lol I have no self control) from and changed her to a sweetheart popoko, which I've been wanting for a while! I've also made a lot of progress with my pet jobs goal - everyone is now trained to the necessary level and strength for a promotion and I'm working my way through reading to everyone. I have 13 pets that have been promoted now!
I also made a thread in the recommendations forum with a variety of pet-focused suggestions. Everyone is welcome to share ideas or feedback!
I'll hold off on the plushie for now - hoping it gets a re-release when holiday items go out via quests the next time but I appreciate the offer. :)
I should get back into working on my pet job goals. I have a handful of pets in the Space jobs - that 775 books for the top tier is a lot, lol.
Holiday Links
[egg=Pureflower] [tp=Pureflower]
Thank you so much! Offered :D And I totally understand, I'm also always down for possible trades since I have so many TCs I'm working on lol but it may be worth waiting since even a steep discount is pricey atm. I hope it gets re-released for you!
Oof yeah, while the training feels like a lot the books are the worst. Especially if you're working on multiple pets at once. I'm currently just trying to get everyone to (at least) level 2 of the GenTech job and I still have like 30 books per pet for like 40+ pets x.x
I'd really love for more games or something to offer intelligence as a reward. Just for variety in how we seek increases in the stat. Also not looking forward to getting to the point that I have to train defense and speed along with level and strength because the relative percentage rule thing -.-
Maybe when I get them all to lv2 my motivation for writing will be re-engaged as an avoidance for having to start of lv3 hahaha.
I nominated Skreev Also feel free to post finished pets on the Spotlight Support board! Each person can only nominate once per 24hrs so it can help to post there if there are multiple pets you want feedback on or need nominations for!
All friends - I'm proud of myself because I learned how to do expanding boxes today including location and opacity transition and I'm super excited because it's perfect for what I'm working on with Ferik :D
It's been a quiet month on Subeta, and a busy one for many IRL. Please weigh in on if you'd like me to continue creating prompts or if you feel we should take a break. Thanks :3
I'd also love if anyone had any thoughts or input for these two boards: Pet Suggestions Spotlight Go Down the Hole
I think summer gets busy for most people, myself included. I wouldn't mind keeping up with the prompts, but at the end of the day, I'd much prefer that you nor anyone else who comes up with these doesn't end up burning their candle from both ends! If rest is what you need, then rest shall it be! People will adapt. I could also try and come up with more additional themes in advance, if that's any help.
Looks really good!! congrats!! Also the TC is delicious, I love the bold toxic colours!
Wah thank you!!!! He's my big baby boy, I didn't expect people to actually read through his stuff because there is... a lot, lol. I should rewrite his profile text today and maybe call it a day to get him nomination-ready.. Also damn, Aleron especially looks suuper good, I adore the whole profile and his design? The colours, the style... love this dude.
Four pets is insane!! Congrats! I really like Skreev and Mango in particular ❤️
I haven't really get anything done this week, as I've been busy with offline things, but slowly getting back into the swing of things
ferik looks awesome! hover tricks/expanding boxes looking so good. i definitely want to learn that next in my coding venture. every time i make a new page i try to implement a new trick i learned. oh and thanks for advertising my art store! you're the sweetest :,0
i've slowed down with my pet pages though due to busy-ness and falling back into drawing fanart for my favourite game characters haha... and now i have a new job (storyboarding)... maybe two! (a character design position). still so pleased to have 3 pets nominated for spotlight!!
i think yuzu is still my next target. as you can see he is very unfinished hahaha. teaching myself anchor links/sections for him i think... i have a layout thumbnailed that looks nothing like how the page currently looks, but we'll see... might change my mind entirely. i'll try to make time to work on him =)

Thank you for weighing in! I just didn't want to make people feel obligated or pressured by continuing posting prompts if everyone was feeling really busy! Maybe I'll do 2 week rotations for the summer then as activity picks up go back to single week rotations! At some point I'm also sure we'll repeat topics but that's okay lol. And TY, I've been having fun putting together his TC.
Congratulations on your new roles! That sounds very exciting and I hope they are both fun and offer lovely opportunities! I'm always happy to share code stuff I've learned if you want! It's been fun to put together the pieces I've learned from tweaking templates and using the guide. I think it's a fun challenge to try and make each page look unique and am trying to prioritize using the layout choices I make to add the right "feeling" to a pet! I love Yuzu's vibes already and can't wait to see what you do with him!
Ugh okay I did not mean to go MIA on here for two whole weeks? I really got sucked into Valheim lmao, thankfully I'm way too scared of it to play it obsessively anymore! Yay for being bad at video games, I guess.
FOR THE RECORD I did in fact get a tiny character design update done the week I said I was going to try to do that! I just... also disappeared off the face of Subeta. And then did nothing the following week. So it's not really anything to brag about, aha. I'm making a pet profile for someone and I also need to start working more seriously on an art commission for a friend, so I'm not expecting to get much done with my own pets this week. Lately I am back to not being super inspired for OCs, which kinda sucks! I think I'm in a mood where I want to clean house a bit but I don't really like getting rid of pets/OCs/etc without having some kind of purpose to it, like a replacement in mind, so I'm just procrastinating as usual.
Thanks for sharing your pet organization sheet! It's so nice and clean, I need something like it. I remember a long time ago, I saw something... I think maybe it was for a cult? Where people had these killer spreadsheets with, like, percentages and stuff. Besides all the mind-numbingly tedious reading, I think the most annoying thing about going for pet jobs is having to focus only on training level and strength. I always forget to avoid training stats more evenly since training is such a mindless autopilot thing, I'd forget to open the dropdown in the Training Center once strength can't go up any higher without increasing level first. I did manage to get Morgan to the top position without too many misclicks, but their stats being so uneven as a little tier 2 baby drives me absolutely crazy for some reason ?? I almost wish I'd prioritized even stat-training over the promotions, aha. One of the things I did when I had dozens of pets to read to, was I'd generally focus on a few pets at a time, and I used custom CSS to bring the 'read to' link for the pet(s) I was working on to be fixed positioning and higher on the screen so I didn't have to scroll.
WRT prompts - I have a really difficult time being active on Subeta every week and I think that's true for a lot of people. Even when I'm not very busy, real life just keeps me pretty tired a lot of the time. I think having prompts every other week or every few weeks, and then during the times we don't have a new prompt, just having a little check-in kinda thing, would be cool. Also I forgot to join the Discord AGAIN so could I get a new invite link please lmao,,, I'm sorry
Yuzu is super cute! Real life comes first, of course, but I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with him when you have time. I adore what I've seen of your pets. :')
Anchor links are one of those things that can be pretty confusing to learn but end up fairly straightforward once you get the hang of them, I think! If you (or anyone else here) ever has CSS questions, lemme know and I can see if I can help. c':

Yay for accomplishing goals, even small! Sometimes being creative for others can be a nice brain break from working on your own pets, hopefully it gives you a fresh slate for inspiration to flow in! I've been in a bit of an inspiration slump too. I have multiple pets just waiting for stories, but haven't felt motivated or inspired to write them, let alone for shaping less-solid characters. But I've been working a bit on profiles and TCs and jobs in the meantime so there's that?
You're welcome! Feel free to use the template if it helps. A percentage type thing sounds so cool, or a dynamic sheet that uses excel formulas. But that's above my skills atm lol.
I think that's a good idea (re:prompts). I'm going to do an every other week thing for a bit, with check-in between as a "given" so we can keep chatting and sharing progress!

Do you find there are trends with how you approach your pets? Do you draw inspiration from the site art or names and channel your creativity through them or do you like to use the subeta pets and profiles as an opportunity to share and shape out already established OCs? Do you like creating detailed characters and world building, or do you tend to write individual or self-contained stories? How do you feel that the way you approach individual pets influences your writing, art, TC, etc for them?
Additional Items I'd also love if anyone wanted to share any thoughts or input on these two boards: Pet Suggestions Spotlight Go Down the Hole

Over time I moved away from that, but wasn't sure what I wanted to do for my pets. Some, like those who were tributes of sorts to real world things, were a bit easier than others. But even then, I wasn't sure how to approach things. If I'm remembering correctly, it was really a board (that until recently I had forgotten about!) that helped me get started. It was a writing themed board where each week we got a prompt to write about. Carn, Ventis, Pluviam, Photographie, and Fellarka all more or less came from writing for those prompts! Of course, there's inspiration that came from other places (a real life experience I had with an unhoused person, my love for wildlife and hobby of photographie, etc) but channeling things through that board was what helped me really shape the words I wanted and get them onto Subeta.
If we get to "belong" to "families" of arts, I'd be a wordsmith - I guess putting together words until they feel "right" is like my version of creating a painting. I put onto the "canvas" what I feel belongs on it, with the desire to share / evoke / process / put forth a feeling or idea. Granted, I think we can all learn to do any art (though our skill levels and natural talents for them will vary like how I wish I could sing beautifully but alas) but sometimes certain forms of art feel more natural and instinctive I think.
Given that, it makes sense to me that my pets are for the most part individual characters that are told through their self-contained stories. I don't have pre-established characters that I have brought to Subeta, but rather find inspiration in certain site art or names and allow a story and character to blossom from them. They tend to fall across a spectrum from the pet is a visual representation of the story (ex: Hallows, Gwin) to a character and story that are "one" (ex: Pluviam, Carn, Aphelion, Ventis) to more solid characters that don't have backstories or world building but still feel a little more "solid" (ex: Parks, Coleman, Remiel). I have some pets that don't fit this, like Booped and Steadfast who are tributes to my loved ones or Kamots and Matsi who are more informational and based on things I'm passionate about.
I do have a large group of pets - the nature spirits, who all fit together. I've had them sitting around for a while and need to actually write their individual works. They're a hybrid of sorts because they're each individually essentially what I described above, but they are knit together by one larger story that is going to be represented via Attenborough.
I have been inspired by everyone here to lean more into creating characters, and I have some pets who will be a bit more "fleshed out" because of that. The quad (Feyne, Mirio, Kotori, and Amalea) are probably the biggest step into new territory and I haven't gotten all that far. But I'm actually excited by the idea and want to challenge myself to really build out what their world is, how magic works there, etc. Others like Looseleaf and Wholebean are also more thoroughly shaped, and have actually inspired me to change my plans a bit for Sweden and Gettyburg and create more Subeta OCs.
I landed on a more complete idea for Zeridyn and I could absolutely see his story becoming a launching point for a larger "world" that other pets could be connected to. We'll see!
I think one of my favorite things about this group is seeing how amazingly and differently creative everyone is. I get so inspired by each person and am thankful for y'all. :')
To be fair, I started playing on this site around the same time I joined Pokemon OCTs (original character tournaments) over on DeviantArt, and the tournaments I joined were all Pokemon-themed. It was inevitable haha. But in the 16-some years since I've also seen a lot of my characters grow and evolve from those original places. I've more-or-less officially moved Riley (Folklores) into an urban fantasy setting, and because Subeta is pet-themed (obviously), it's been super neat exploring his character through the point of view of his cat, rather than my boy himself.
I constantly joke with a friend that it's Over for me once I name a character, and that holds true here too. Back when unique names were a thing I gravitated towards real word names because I liked the way they challenged me to shape an idea around a central theme that the name provided. I got Remains, Challenge, Migrant, and Threaten through this method. Two of these names represent characters I had developed elsewhere (Pokemon-related, to no one's surprise), and I honestly don't think I would have migrated them here without having found fitting names for them. For the most part I don't really want my existing characters to be on Subeta with the exact same name or birthday or such... I want this site to be a way in which I explore something about them that I can't or find difficult to do on another platform. If I do keep a character's name the same (thank you, non-unique names), it's usually because I have an ambitious pipe dream of a cool TC and/or profile for them haha.
And I love to build TCs. I think it satisfies the hoarder in me, and I always liked those "what's in their bag?" prompts that circulated in the Pokemon trainer character world. I'm also deeply appreciative when the massive TCs kind of force your hand in learning new skills for coding profiles (looking at you, Nyrene).
I don't think I have a purely "Subeta" OC--that aspect never quite appealed to me. But of my non-Pokemon pets, I do have a couple smaller groups of characters that are loosely tied together in that they exist in the same world and they can interact normally, like neighbors might, but it's important to me that each can function as their own character away from the others. I just find it's easier for me to write for them like that. Two of these characters are shopkeepers and they're the only ones where I do kind of play with the pet friends feature, to establish that sort of commercial link, but otherwise the group linkage is usually not the thing I want to showcase the most about those characters.
