As someone who loves the pet aspect of subeta more than anything else, I am always looking for more pet-loving folks to chat with! In 2024 I sought to come up with an idea that would create continually engaging conversation. The resulting "Weekly Pet Prompts" forum group birthed friendships, inspiration, commiseration, support, and motivation for many. As the year went on and I realized just how busy different seasons of life can be for us all, the "weekly" aspect of our prompts morphed into a more realistic "not-so-weekly" prompt release schedule. As we wrap up 2024 and enter 2025, I want to take everything we've enjoyed and experienced and use it keep the group ever-evolving (and hopefully thriving). Thus, I welcome you all to ...

2025 Prompts
- Memories and Meanings Are there stories you have told through your pets that feel particularly personal or meaningful to you?Do you find writing particularly personal or meaningful "stories" easier or harder than stories that come from "non-personal" inspiration / creativity? Do you have stories you want to tell or have chosen a pet for, but are having a hard time writing or getting around to? What does writing (or story / character design) do for you - is it a creative outlet, healing, etc?
- Getting the Creative Juices Flowing What do you find most helps spark your creativity? What helps fan the spark into a flame? Are there sources that you often draw some inspiration or creative energy from such as certain books, movies, shows, games, worlds, music, etc? Do you find that trying to have discipline builds momentum and ultimately motivation, or do you find that trying to build discipline ends up making you avoid / procrastinate further / squashes motivation? - Prompt : Say it With Your Chest It's time to talk TCs obnoxious air horn sounds Share some of your favorite TCs you've curated! Share some of your favorite TCs from others! What do you wish the site would implement that would make TCs easier / more fun? What would you like to learn to do related to TCs? Are you stuck on any TCs or just want additional ideas? Share them!
- Prompt : Who's That pokemon Character Indeed, it's time for a new prompt! This one is inspired by my current flatlining and yet also overload of character building ideas x.x What are your strengths and challenges when it comes to creating characters? Do you feel like the initial idea comes easy, but shaping details is an uphill battle? Or do details come easy once the hard-won concept is in place? When it comes to Subeta, do you create characters just for the site pets or do you more tend to use site pets for characters from other places in your life? Does the site help you with shaping those characters for other purposes? Are there things you do that you have found super helpful in creating characters? As a traditional or digital (thinking profiles, graphic design type) artist, what is the hardest and easiest part of bringing character designs to visual "life" in your medium? Do you enjoy making art for yourself, for others, or both? As a non-visual artist - what is your realm of artistry? Are there any pieces you've seen on subeta or otherwise recently that sparked creativity, inspiration, or joy? What is your favorite and least favorite thing about "creating" in your medium (music, writing, traditional art, graphic design, etc)? What else might you want to chat about or share relating to art?
- The Times, They Are A'Changin Can you believe Subeta has been around for over 20 years now?! What a gift. No matter if you've been here for 1 year or 20, you've probably had some kind of season, change, growth, etc in your relationship with your pets and your creativity. I know I have! [...] So how about you? What changes or "season" do you feel like you've been through? 8.Extra, Extra! Chat All About It! Over yonder on the there Subeta discord, shared a super creative "extra" activity that they do with their pets; they feed them specialized, themed diets! This created some really cool secondary food TCs of sorts and was even wrapped at times into the character of the pet! Inspired by this, I'd love to chat all about the "extras" we do, want to do, or wish we could do with our pets! Do you aim for themed jobs, high-paying jobs, or no jobs? Do you feed themed foods, play with themed toys, or read themed books? Do you work on achievements with specific pets? What kind of additional extra things do you think would be fun? Maybe your active pet could be considered the one playing games or vending? What additional kinds of pet achievements would you enjoy? If you don't do extras, why? Is it just not of interest or too much to invest in? 9.What's New With You? This prompt is all about kicking back and chatting about what's new in your world. Feel free to chat it up about Subeta specifically, or share some things going on irl - whatever you want to share!
- Happy Holidays! With so many holidays in the Subeta year, is there one you love the most because of how it impacts your pets? Do you find motivation or inspiration from a particular holiday? Do you love a holiday for all the TC items you find in the special shops? Do you enjoy a certain event because it brings bangin battle opponents? Do you have a favorite(s) holiday for totally different reasons?
- Something Old and Something New I have had killer burnout and have been struggling to the max IRL, meaning my poor awesome Subby group has been a little neglected. I'm sorry for that. I still have total creative block, so this prompt is simple - choose a past prompt to share answers / thoughts / feelings about and / or suggest a new prompt and give your own answers / thoughts / opinions.
- Sensational Season In honor of the season, share any pets you have that have dark / spooky or autumnal themes! What inspired you to create this pet?
- Inspiration Station Where have you most recently (even if "recently" is a stretch like it is for me) found inspiration for creativity? What have you recently (ish) completed - don't feel like it has to be a WHOLE something, even partial is great!
- And a Happy New Year As we get ready to ring in the new year, look back at 2025 and share some accomplishments you're proud of, things that made you happy, or challenges you faced. What are you planning for in 2026? Any solid "to-do" plans for pets, or just hopes for inspiration?
2024 Prompts
- Are any of your subeta pets based on your current or past (my heartfelt condolences) real life animal companions?
- Do you have any "favorites" amongst your pets? If so, what makes them a "favorite" and what inspired you when you created them?
- Let's talk TCs! Are there any items in particular you put in a pet's TC that made you laugh or felt clever? Do you have a favorite TC amongst your pets? Are there any TCs you need help with? Let's crowdsource item ideas!
- Chatting Creativity! There are so many parts of the creative process when it comes to our subeta pets - choosing the right name, creating a character, writing a story, curating a TC, crafting a profile, creating art, etc. What are your favorite or least favorite parts of the creative process? Do you have a place you usually start / a normal "process" or is do you "go with the flow" depending on the pet? Which pets are you currently creating for?
- What's In A Name? Do you have a "trend" or preference for your pet names - A legion of legacy names? Exclusively real words? A fan of numbers? A little bit of this and a little bit of that? Do you have any pet names you just adore or that have an extra special place in your heart? Where did your pets' names come from - feel free to share whether you have one or one hundred!
- Species & Colors & Zappers, Oh My! Do you find yourself drawn to a particular species or color? Do you have any pets where you had to debate between a species/color combination that worked best for the character versus one you liked more? Do you have any species and color combinations you want to use, but haven't found the right pet or idea for it yet?
- Sit Back & Share. Come prop your feet up, take a deep breath, and share what you've been up to recently with your pets or what plans you have that you're excited about! Made any progress towards completing some kiddos or getting them spotlight ready? Made some decisions about things you were on the fence about? Need ideas for something? Want to lament how hard it is to motivate yourself at times?
- All the Additional Activities! We focus a lot on the character representation part of pets, but what about the other things the site has to offer? When it comes to fullness and happiness, do you worry about that or not pay much attention? Feed and play individually, or is the resort a life saver? Do you participate in training and battling? If so, what do you enjoy about it? Do you have designated pets for things like gourmand and reading books to? Is it based on if that fits their character, for achievements, or something else? What am I missing? Are there other things you do on the site with your pets?
- "Will You Weigh In?" An opportunity for us to put our heads together and ask for ideas, opinions, and suggestions on anything pet related! Need ideas to fill out a TC? Debating the species and color for a pet? Still tweaking a piece of art or a profile and want feedback? Trying to shape an idea out?Want recommendations for an artist, coding help, etc? And our bonus prompt - You Get a Prompt, You Get a Prompt, and You Get A Prompt! AKA I only have one more prompt idea on my list so I need some brainstorming help! We can totally repeat prompts over time since things continue to change for us and we (hopefully) continue to have new friends join, but I also want to bring as many fresh ideas as possible so the board stays engaging for all!
- Share Your Stories Do you like to fully write out your own stories, outline an idea and commission a story, or something else? Do you have a favorite story(ies) amongst your pets? What makes it / them one of your favorites? Do you have a story you're shaping out right now that you're excited about or need inspiration for?
- Awesome Art & Overlays Do you have a particular pet who's art or overlay you just adore? Do you create art and overlays yourself, or do you commission them from others? If you're an artist, what do you use to create your art and do you have recommendations for those of us who are considering trying to learn? When it comes to art and overlays, do you feel a desire or need to make them "site official" or are you just as happy if they're simply on the profile? Is there anyone who's art you love, or someone who's pet design you are wow'd by?
- In The Beginning... TV fine print voice This week's prompt brought to viewers like you by . Who was your first pet(s) that you created / adopted on Subeta? What was their name? Their species and color? Did you have a "plan" for this / these pet(s)? Did it change over time? Do you still have this / these pet(s)? Extra Activity: Take a trip to the Wayback Machine and share the oldest screenshot of your profile! If you've changed your UN since you started, don't forget to swap it in the url! 13. That "New Pet" Smell Tell us all about some of your newer pets! Did you adopt them? If so, what drew you to them? / Did you create them? If so, what gave you the idea? Do you have plans for this pet? - Where We Come From Our subeta pets come to us in a variety of ways! They can be created by us, adopted (application process), pound finds, or "gifts" from friends! 1. Tell us about your pets history! Do some have some pets with especially special or memorable journeys? 2. Do you tend to create pets, apply to adopt, surf the pound, or a combination? Do you have any strong feelings one way or another? 3. Are you like me and you have to actually dig back through things to remember some of the past? (Using "View Page Source" on their profile and Ctrl+F to search for "Adopted" will give you the birth and adoption date. If you created the pet, they will be the same.) 4. OMG do you remember Subeta before pet transfers?! :O x.x
- Share, Celebrate, Inspire It's another "check in" week - share what you've been up to with your pets! Have you recently gotten a pet spotlight ready? Reached a specific goal in your training, achievement gaining, or job? Made some progress with a profile or TC? Let us celebrate with you! Feeling "stuck" and unmotivated? Looking for some ideas when it comes to a story or TC? We get that! Let us encourage you and make you feel seen! Additionally, feel free to drop a "real world" update! How are you doing?! Anything we can celebrate or support you in when it comes to the real world?
- The Tales We Choose To Tell Our Subeta pets and their profiles are blank canvases that we can approach in a variety of ways; they can be on-site representations of already established off-site characters, tributes to those we love, fan pets to characters or individuals we adore, thematic representations and vessels for stories, fully fleshed out unique characters, or Subeta OCs. We can show our creativity through our pets and their profiles in many ways, including writing, art, or design. Do you find there are trends with how you approach your pets? Do you draw inspiration from the site art or names and channel your creativity through them or do you like to use the subeta pets and profiles as an opportunity to share and shape out already established OCs? Do you like creating detailed characters and world building, or do you tend to write individual or self-contained stories? How do you feel that the way you approach individual pets influences your writing, art, TC, etc for them?
- The Soundtracks of Our Stories Thank you for suggesting / inspiring this prompt! 1. Do you draw inspiration from music while creating your pets, such as listening to music in general to help get the creativity flowing or listening to specific music that is matched thematically to your pet? 2. Do you have any pets that are based on / inspired by music, songs, or musical artists? 3. Do you have any pets that you've mentally created a playlist or playlist genera for? 4. What kinds of music do you think some of your pets would listen to or have playing as the thematic background music of their story / profile?
- The Delight is in the Details Do any of your pets share a personal interest, hobby, or affinity for something with you? Do you have a character who's clever details you are super proud of or enjoy thinking about each time you look at them? Do any of your pets have a trait that seems minor, but makes you smile? What's something specific you love about some of your pets?
- Where in the Worlds is Carmen Petdiego Have you created a world or worlds of your own in which a pet or pets live? Tell us more about this world! Of the worlds you pets live in (our world, worlds you made, worlds others made like a fandom pet) which would you most or least like to live in? Shakeup! If we put all your pets in a dice cup, shook them up, and dropped them into new worlds what would happen? Is there anyone that would be funny or notable?
- Prompt : The Light, The Dark, The Shades of Gray When it comes to creating pet characters, do you find yourself tending to "good guys", "bad guys", or "very shades of gray type characters"? When it comes to stories, do you find yourself tending towards happy themes / endings, darker themes / endings, or blended / bittersweet / dark with a dash of hope types? - Prompt : A Blast From the Past In my 17+ years on Subeta, this group has been one of the absolute best things I've experienced. I am super grateful for each person who has joined in and chatted, encouraged, sympathized, shared, brain-stormed, and been a friend. It's been exciting to see new folks joining in over the last few prompts! Inspired by the new faces and by reflection on our journey so far - this week's prompt is called "A Blast From the Past" - choose any prompt(s) from the past (they're all in the OP under a spoiler) and answer it / them!"
- Prompt : Choose Your Own Seasonal Adventure! Adventure Path : Create a HA of one of your characters enjoying the season / holidays. Are the seasons / holidays different where they are? Feel free to put them in our "real life" season / holiday, the Subeta holiday, or the season / holiday from their world. Adventure Path : Create a HA with a focus on wearable companions! Maybe they're a sidekick to your character! Perhaps your HA is dressed to match their companion. Or maybe the "human" element of the HA totally removed and the animals are enjoying the season solo! Winter 24/25 Pet Sprint
Goals & UpdatesChoosing Goals You choose what you want to work on! Pet Stories, Pet Profiles, Treasure Chests, Overlays, Profile Art, or all of the above are welcome! Each participant will create three personal goals (these should be realistic for the time period, but please do try to challenge yourself) and one "SFTS Goal" (Shooting for the Stars Goal). Since there will be prizes, certain goals will have "minimum" requirements (for fairness):
- TC goals should include a minimum of 20 items added or 100 items being organized.
- Stories should be a minimum of 500 words. While the goal is to inspire creativity, it is understood that not everyone has the same strengths! Because of this, goals such as "create a detailed character outline / design, save up for and commission X" can be accepted with additional considerations to ensure fairness.
Participating There will be an 7 day sign-up period, followed by a 2 month sprint to complete personal goals. Check-in at least bi-weekly with updates so the tracker can be updated. Please use the form provided below the guidelines section to sign-up for the Sprint (I will add this after feedback on the guidelines).
Prizes I'm still solidifying, but thinking sP / CSC. Anyone is welcome to contribute to the prize "pool". Prizes will be given at the end and what tier you end in is the prize package you will recieve.

I'm moving my answer to here so the first post is as "clean" as possible for future weeks! My Sub pet Booped is a tribute to the dogs and cats that have stolen my heart. While still in progress (but so close to being complete), the profile shares artwork, photo links, and a small story about my soul-dog Juneau (who passed in 2021) and my current family (5 dogs and 3 cats). Booped
I like those ideas! Absolutely saving them for future use.
I'm so sorry to hear about Garlic's passing, and love the way you share all his quirks in such an honest and loving way. <3 He reminds me a bit in appearance of my boy Takota, and in some of his quirks of my boy Kaiju.

Also I really like that you have Booped as a tribute to multiple pets. I/my family have always had anywhere from 2 to 6 dogs at one time, so I could never be able to make a pet for each of them, but having one as a tribute to all of them is a lovely idea.
I love Garlic's profile, and I'm sorry you lost him so soon.
My pet Topper is a tribute to one of my three soul-dogs who have passed (and includes a mini-tribute to Jack, one of the others). I got the idea because the Nostalgic Ruffie looks a lot like him! He was the second pet I created on Subeta (I'm pretty sure), after my main pet Tak.
I made two pets in honor of my dad. Peace On Earth and Dragonflies just after he passed. I had a dog that loved Bacon, and did a semi-tribute to her with Azana.

augh thank you for asking!! I should make a memorial pet for my poodle grampa Niki, we lost him the summer before last ❤️ He was the pickiest, most princessy poodle out there, but man I loved that tiny dog. I'd probably go with harvest ruffie, but with a personalised overlay

as for the prompt...
well, obviously my favorite would be my leashed pet/subeta export of my furbsona (not a typo), prophet!!! :b
they were one of the first pets (the third specifically) i made on subeta! when my partner niko showed me the nostalgic cybill i KNEW i had to make one to be prophet (and my friend dee so gracious gave newbie me the ingredience to make it so). and i knew i had to get an overlay to make prophet look like, well, prophet! went with the lovely atempause and they did a FANTASTIC job. :3 prophet also won spotlight a while ago, so i'd say his journey on subeta is complete! looking back now i'd def do the tc a bit different lol but he WAS the first pet i finished so it makes sense.
some runners up in regard to fave pets i made would be Lark and Loveday Darling, who are both ocs of mine! i bought both of their designs off toyhouse after falling in love with them and developed them into fully fleshed out ocs! lark is done, but lolo still needs some, well, love! mostly in the form of a story and an overlay (which i've commed and am waiting on).

Favorites... ouch, it's hard to choose! All of them are special to me in some way, many of them being OCs or RL tributes. But right now, these two are my favorites, and the ones whose profiles I look at again and again:
Valentine Brothers are based on the Hellsing characters Luke and Jan Valentine. Luke is absolutely my favorite character of all time, from anything; I have a strong emotional connection to him, and he and Jan as a duo are very special to me. I was thrilled to make them a bloodred Blob since its eye colors match theirs perfectly! I also put a lot of effort into their TC, to the point of buying a bunch of CWs for it, and then commissioning the one in my signature to be a specific tribute to them ❤
Bob-omb is also really special to me. Bob-ombs are an enemy from the Super Mario games, and I adore them! So when I returned from hiatus, I wanted to make a Bob-omb fan pet, and I decided to create an OC. I named him Sparky after the "Little Sparky Bomb" item, picked a Bob-omb in a game to base him on, and started writing a story for him. Well, I ended up getting emotionally invested in him and his story by the time I finished it (developing it far more than I'd originally planned to), and then I made him a fairly major character in a longer Mario fic I'm still updating. So now I have an OC I really love, all because I wanted content for a pet profile 😂

Hmm, my favorites. [Pet=Skull/Ginger] I love her treasure, which isn't visible in its full glory, due to the broken images currently. 😮💨 I wanted a pet to represent each season, she is Autumn.
[Pet=Mariska] I think she was my first original character to win the spotlight. I love to bake, and wanted a pet that was a baker. Need to fix her HA, it somehow got swapped with another. 🤷🏻
[Pet=Skull/Bradley] Bradley's story sat half finished for a long time, but I finally got around to finishing it. So he's a current favorite of mine. Need to find a few more things to stick in his treasure.

Cozen - is my first pet and I still don't think he has a story. Oops. He had a wonky name, then was Cozen Rook and now just Cozen.
Serrated has to be my top pet. He's my first adopted. First name change and complete revamp pet. Among my top battler.
Florissa holds a close spot to my heart. Her story - although the end was changed for Subeta. (too dark for staff)- her story was from a writing group I worked in. Her profile took forever to code and work to the boarder.
Shekinah! OMG! LOL She was a hoot to get. It took two years for the user and me to get our stuff together to send her to me. LOL I finally got her. And she Won the spotlight at the end of the year.

My favorite pet is definitely Mocha. She was my first and I've pampered her ever since. She's my gourmand, battle pet, working to have the best job on-site even though it doesn't fit her story, and very cute. Even with all the other cool pet colors coming out, twilight kerubi have remained a pet I think are really cute, and I couldn't imagine changing her. I've always wanted to do something fancier with her profile, but I've never gotten around to it.
