I gave it a try with the opponents from the Morostide Warrior achievement and got "It must be Morostide! CHOP CHOP CHOP!"
It gives an extra heal of :heal: 25 HP and a chance for a curse (Bloody Morostide | 4 turns | :dmg🔥2 :dmg:dark:2) against Deathly Harbinger, Candy Scorn, Lingering Haunt, Torchbearer, Wolve, Carrion Lord, Nightlady, and Rouland :D
Oh awesome, thank you! I tried against one of the other Morostide opponents and didn't even think about the achievement because I've had it haha.
Morostide Bloodred Saber should now be working against all Morostide opponents! It was coded to only work against the OG friends~
This is me asking for a buff for the Malhuilis blessing. It's literally called Guardian and only protects 10 light and doesn't block freezing and stealing 🫠 Very happy with all the changes though
First time not using Trident for big pets since the downgrade. Would have used it against Roland in the past but settled for Swashbuckle instead. Missing Trident's blessing for those battles so much.
I would like more tweaking on the Corrupted Shadow Sword. I can live with the heal if only it also did the following (mix and match as you will):
-had a blessing -boosted Str by 50 each use -chance to freeze -1 more mod slot

This so much! I actually posted in discord about this last night. I really noticed the problem against Rouland as well! Given how much real money I spent on it, I really hope he revisits the Trident. It didn't deserve the nerf it received at higher tiers.

Definitely add my +1 for fixing the Trident. For what it entails to even get in the first place, it does not deserve the nerfs it received. Blessed Trident has been a long-time staple for me.

Thank you for the fix on the sword!

I used it against Rouland with the 7 biggest, only did 5 battles with them so far. Was o.k.
Happily hammering against the freezable opponents it dawned upon me, that Shrieks and Psychos cost me like 500 HP, and the Trident only covers 350, even though healing over the 3% of the freezers should easily be covered - something is very wrong here! Unless the minus heal is reduced, scale tweaked or completely removed.
I also mentioned here earlier, HOW much we had to spend on the very first release.
But it's still only Godlies that are not touched and not rereleased. No, put into an impossible price range instead. Everything else may be harmed and devalued big time and lose it's elusiveness. As if we hadn't worked for these equally hard/much.
You know, I really didn't notice the tridents nerf while getting ten on Rouland but admittedly I wasn't really paying close attention.
I was, however, too lazy to change the set while circling back to nightlady with my t11 pets (who have... ahh, a lot to be desired in the AP department thus need to survive without chain freezing). The trident heal nerf didn't effect my t13/9k hp pet, didn't really bother my t12/4k hp pet, but when using t11/2.3-2.8k pets I definitely noticed something had happened; the trident was essentially useless for a t11 pet with 2.3k stats, netting several losses just to get four wins.
For sake of comparison I switched to the swashbuckle, getting the next four wins easily (two losses, but my pets rarely seem to feel they need blessings) despite being an ill-suited blocker and battles 5-8.
So the changes to the trident pretty much make it inferior for lower tiers, I can't really see me using it in the future unless I have to block wind and the pet can't use the swashbuckle instead.
That doesn’t really make sense. The only negative change to Blessed Trident was a reduced healing cap, which shouldn’t affect T11 pets unless they have a highly uneven amount of HP (>5,000). However, it should be affecting your T13 pet because they’re getting the reduced healing.
Nightlady doesn’t use any wind icons so it’s more likely your stronger pets could absorb her attacks while your T11 pet couldn’t. Swashbuckle has always healed a higher percentage than Blessed Trident (10% vs 7%) which explains why it helped cover the damage you were taking in.
There’s nothing wrong with criticizing the change, but this isn’t an example of it making an opponent harder.
I completely agree with here. You really notice it with higher tiers/higher health due to the heal cap being lowered. At any rate, I don't see why people would be opposed to the request for added defense on the Blessed Trident to make up for the healing nerf. It's a 3,000 CSC item when you consider the Bobbleheads you must buy (if you didn't get them with cash shop purchases years ago) to acquire it. That equates to roughly 240mil sP, which is 4 times the cost of a Swashbuckle these days.

Ah no, it's an example of me being lazy and not swapping weapons lol (doing so isn't entirely mobile friendly). I didn't intend to make it sound like the challengers were harder or that the change in healing didn't effect higher tier pets, which it undoubtedly did, I may have not been clear on that originally?
My point was mostly there was a significant difference in success from using the trident (now flat healing) and the swashbuckle (percentage) using the same pet against the same challenger. I used both for comparison as they block the same icon, regardless of being a poor choice against nightlady. For higher tier/health pets I just didn't notice it because the health didn't drop fast enough and/or the ability to chain freeze. For a pet with less health and enough AP to attach one freezing scroll, I noticed very quickly that something must have happened.
That's fine for me, I can take the minute to dismantle a set and reconstruct it with better suited weapons, but for people who invested a fair amount of sP/csc/money into a weapon that previously was good enough even in the case of "it hits hard and heals good"? The change kinda stinks as it sits today.
I still remember trying to patch together a creative set to beat prodigy, failing the OG omen islands plot spectacularly with my one sad little battle pet, the sliding seasonal challengers to accommodate the strongest pets, or the first stat cap I never really rebounded from. The goalposts have been moved a lot over the years, and while I'm not saying that's 's plan or intention (I have faith in him) I will say it makes me nervous.
I think we're all especially nervous now that T10 and up are next on the chopping block.

I think I see where the miscommunication is :P Blessed Trident still heals at 7% until your pet reaches 5k health, where it starts healing at a flat rate of 350 HP. This change will only affect pets with more than 5k health (i.e. pets in high T12 and T13). The T11 pets with 2.3-2.8k HP in your example weren't affected.
I took issue with the statement "So the changes to the trident pretty much make it inferior for lower tiers..." because it's just not accurate. The Trident is the same or better at the lower tiers, only pets with more than 5k health are going to feel the change to the heal. But already knows this because he's the one who made the changes. I'm trying to clear the record for those who are only casually following this thread.
For comparison:
Before: |
After: |
|
Tier 8 |
:block:wind:10 or 15 :heal: 7% HP |
:block:wind:50 :heal: 7% HP |
Tier 9 |
:block:wind:10 or 15 or 90 :heal: 7% HP |
:block:wind:60 :heal: 7% HP |
Tier 10+ |
:block:wind:90 :heal: 7% HP |
:block:wind:90 :heal: 7% HP |
Heal Cap |
700 HP (at 10k+ health) |
350 HP (at 5k+ health) |
I agree with all the complaints about the Blessed Trident. In my opinion, no weapon which costs CSC should be downgraded.
I'd accept the low heal cap if, when scaled to T12 and 13, it blocked more wind, did a little more damage, and the blessing rate activates a bit more often.

Ha! Okay definitely misunderstanding on my part!
I'm lazy enough that without a doubt I did the same thing last year (nightlady, swapped weapons for rouland, didn't change them back and circled back to nightlady), so I was curious enough to see all of the above regarding the trident. In the end it was probably just bad luck this year, further confirmed by my 120 wins and 4 shrieks.
Thank you both for sorting me out, y'all are the true MVPs 😂!
