Oh man, it was -23C here today, and on Friday evening it's supposed to get down to -41C with the windchill. Alberta is getting FROSTY after a late start to the winter haha.
Thanks! Well i am glad it's freezing as we had 3 weeks off rain. Finally the water level is dropping, the cold is no fun.. Glad the sun is here ok today it's playing hide and seek..
darn that is cold...
- Ooof, that's not good. Unless he does it because it's easier to breathe cooler air. We keep our house cool, even in the winter, because it's easier for me to breathe. :)
- Now that's cold. That reminds me of one winter we had in Minnesota. It was so cold the boogers froze to my nose. I was about 110 at the time and thought it was cool. :joyy:
- I'm glad the water is receding. Are you ready for it to get cold? We have another storm, the third, bearing down on us. Silly, I know, but I'm hoping we'll get just enough snow to make it pretty. Then the rest can go north. 😂
Even the house is cold today in spite of the temperature being turned up in here. It's definitely going to be a blankets and hot tea kind of weekend!
I've heard Minnesota winters can be brutal! I used to LOVE when it got like this as a kid, too, but now that I'm an adult and have to go outside in this on a regular basis and do adulty things it's a whole other story haha. I don't mind piles of snow, but I draw the line at temperatures that will freeze my skin in a matter of minutes.
Also I injured my foot the other day and found out today it's fractured so that's going to be SO FUN in this weather lol.
welp it was so cold today (-33C feels like -43C) that my car died in my work parking lot ;;_;;

🦋
- Ouch! Yeah, that won't be any fun in negative temps. Did they give you a boot to wear? I swear those things were invented by Torquemada. XXD And, now that I have arthritis, I hate the cold, too. Every joint aches. I've found my optimal living temp is between 70f and 60f. Where is that temp range available all year round? XD
Luckily the fracture is in the middle of the bone, away from the joints and well-aligned. They gave me the option of a cast or a boot but said that wearing a compression bandage and/or sturdy pair of lace-up shoes will do the same thing and be a lot more comfortable. Otherwise I'm supposed to use a cane to keep weight off of it when I walk and just take it easy for a few weeks. I'm sure it'll be fine!
RIGHT? It would be LOVELY to find somewhere with moderate temps. My joints are still fine at this age but my POTS is triggered by hot weather and I have temperature regulation issues in the cold too so somewhere with that kind of temp full time would be AMAZING.
I wonder if investing in one of those power packs to keep in the car in case it dies again might be something to look into. I have no clue how they work or how expensive they are, but maybe??
Ouch! Best wishes on a quick recovery. You don't like space boots? That's what I always called them. I think they are fantastic. Hurts putting one on and taking it off, but in between didn't hurt and was completely supported. It was so much better than a cast because you could take it off to sleep and shower. I developed this rocking gait every time I had to wear one and it was great. :)
Due to his meds, he gets warmer quicker. So if the room isn't cold then he sweats through the sheets.
- Oh, that stinks. I hate it when that happens. :( How are you doing? :D
- Oh, he-- no. I had to wear one for 6 weeks last summer. Thought I would die. It pulled my knee and hip out of alignment and caused me a world of problems. I finally did what Garnet did and used a compression bandage and my Doc Martins instead. Worked like a charm. ;) (I want to burn the thing but my hubby won't let me. He says we may need it. XD )
- That's what I did last summer. I tore a ligament in my ankle and they gave me a boot. I had a very difficult time with it and finally did what they told you to do. Boots are devil spawn. 😂
Doing better. Still recovering from Covid. Dad will be getting Ghost's ashes and coming over Sunday. If all goes to plan.
I don't ever want to see Dad again but he's a necessary evil.
I'm glad you're doing better with the covid. What are you going to do with Ghost's ashes? Good luck with your dad. Perhaps he won't be so bad considering he's bringing Ghost's ashes home. :)
The ashes are in an urn and Brian isn't sure where he'll place it.
Not going to hold my breath for Dad acting rationale. He'll probably think he's the center of attention as he paid for the cremation and brought the urn to our home. He doesn't care about anyone and is just using Ghost to get attention and praise.
- No mantle piece to put the urn on? We put stuff on the top of our bookcase when we want it to have pride of place. I'm so sorry you have to deal with that kind of behavior, especially in these sensative times. It's a shame he doesn't know how to behave properly. Your in my thoughts. :D
- I hope you're having a wonderful Saturday. :D
Waves at all the lurkers. :D
We don't really have book cases here. Need to get Brian to help clean up a spot for my altar. Though he doesn't understand why I would need both a crystal grid and altar XD
- Does he join you in your religious pursuits? My hubby doesn't join me in mine but he still understands my needs in that category. When I have something important like that to do I attempt it on my own in little batches. Drives my family bonkers as they say I make a big mess doing that but I get the satisfaction of accomplishing something they thought I couldn't do on my own. :SD
Spiritual. Not religious.
Brian doesn't understand everything, but he supports me. I could put random rocks around the house and he would accept it.
