i'll share what i've been watching lately :)

-The Blood of Youth: martial arts story based on the novel, Shao Nian Ge Xing

A few of my favorite books: The Plantagenet and Tudor novels by Philippa Gregory Lisey's Story, Rose Madder, IT, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, The Mist, Survivor Type, The Little Sisters Of Eluria; by Stephen King Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks The Harry Potter novels by JK Rowling
From time to time a friend of mine posts a thing on facebook asking to recommend a book, movie, tv show and album. And since my brain is mush right now I'm just going to steal the answers from the last one she posted.
Currently reading: The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls Picked it up on a whim because it was in one of the Little Free Libraries near my house. It's really good. It's a memoir, so it's nonfiction, but it's so wild it seems like fiction. Like there's no way anyone's childhood could be this crazy. But this woman's was!
TV: We burned through both seasons of The White Lotus really fast, I didn't want it to end. It's so twisted. I yelled THIS IS SO MESSED UP! more than once.
Movie: Man I haven't watched a movie in forever. I usually end up falling asleep. The only movie I can think of right now is Willow, because I've been wanting to watch the series. We watched like half an episode but all my housemates want to do lately is watch Modern Family (which is also a good show, don't get me wrong). But Willow! has long been one of my favorite movies.
Album: Fundamental by the Pet Shop Boys, my favorite album by one of my favorite bands. A bit disco, a bit trance, a bit mysterious, poignant thoughtful lyrics, and the song Numb hits me right in the feels.
Every year I try to send my tween-aged sister a book for her birthday and Christmas. I try to send a mix of things she likes and things I liked when I was her age. It's a fun way to bond despite the distance.

Day 4, media:
Books have always been my favorite media by a long shot. My very earliest memories are of my mother reading to me. My frustration that she would only read a chapter at a time and dying to know what would happen next. I taught myself to read so I could secretly read ahead to know what would happen and thereby fully enjoy being read to without the frustration. I never told her I could read because I thought she would stop reading to me once she knew I could read it for myself. And of course, once I started "learning to read" at school, the reading aloud at home did stop.
Over the years I've had many favorite authors and books. These days my most enjoyed author is Lois McMaster Bujold and her work I most enjoy is the Vorkosigan Saga:

My most horrific nightmare is well depicted in the old "Time Enough at Last" episode of Twilight Zone where the main character is a fellow book lover and things do not go well for him.

One of my all time favourite anime: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. It's just so good lol.

Media:
An album I've been really digging lately is Diamonds & Dancefloors by Ava Max!
The songs Hold Up (Wait A Minute), In The Dark, and Ghost are just some of the highlights of the album! ❤️
I totally agree!!
I'm reading The Lies of Locke Lamora right now and it's surprisingly enjoyable, despite some awful, sad things that happen. The start is slow but it gets SO fun and interesting. The twists are totally surprising and from beginning to end, things that seem unimportant become major plot points!

I've got one of my kids reading Five Nights at Freddy's books to me.

We both like stories like the ones that are in this series. We just finished watching all of Alice in Borderland tv series together. We have to find something else to watch now. :)

My favorite anime of all time! granted it's older than even my brothers but, it's still really good and holds up even to today's standards
"Even though I may only meet you where heaven and Earth collide, your warm touch and fanged smile bring me comfort. I may burn in hell for loving you, but I would rather burn alive than spend a single day without you. Even if I choose to be alone in this world, I know you're there for me in the Eldritch beyond. In a way your Demonic origins allowed you to sense my pain, and you always find ways to show me you care. Your love is genuine, and for that you shall be my mate. May Artemis guide us"
I'm really loving Aurelio Voltaire's new album The Black Labyrinth. My favorite song from the album is The King of Villains/When I Said I Was Evil (it's so much fun x) ), but all the songs are great!
For day 4, I would like to share with you a film that make me smile every time I'm feeling down.
It's "Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain" or Amélie in english.
It's the story of a shy waitress who decides to change the lives of those around her for the better while dealing with her own isolation.
And the soundtrack by Yann Tiersen is beautiful, I love La Valse d'Amélie :)
Favourite book ~ The Great Gatsby Favourite film ~ La La Land (or Mamma Mia, depending on my mood) Favourite song ~ If you Wanna, by the Vaccines, or Mr Blue Sky, by ELO
i'm not a big movie person (more likely to fall asleep than finish watching) but xD have always enjoyed this!
For Day 4: Media
My favorite songs of all time are The Dance by Garth Brooks and Warrior by Jimmie Allen. My favorite book series is The Black Dagger Brotherhood books by J.R. Ward.

At my fine wine age, I never dreamed I could learn anything from Miley Cyrus. There's a reason Flowers hit around the world. It's a simple lesson which I wish I had realized 40 years ago. I believe it resonates with a lot of people.

Media:
I’m currently reading Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six by Lisa Unger. I really like other books of hers that I’ve read so far. I need to get better about being more consistent with my reading. Back when I used to go to the gym every day (pre-covid), I always read while I exercised there. Now that I don’t go to the gym, my reading has gone way down because I spend my time walking/hiking with my dogs and then doing yoga for my daily exercise, which you can’t read during. 😆
My favorite TV show in terms of media right now is Ghosts. It’s such a fun and cute show.
