yea i know the feeling, i used to have to wait for daniel to be off to stay home with them, but its much, much easier now that they are in school and they also behave a bit better if i do have to take them.

I need some advice as I'm not sure what to do. You all know about the drama with my bio dad - that he accused me of being a capitalist, consumerist zombie who marched in lockstep with the 4th estate and told me not to contact him until I accepted that the world didn't revolve around me? Well, he sent me a Christmas email. So, I replied politely thinking he wanted to restore communication. He didn't respond. So, I went on with life. On New Year's Day he sent me an e-card. I once again responded politely, thinking nothing would come of it. This time he responded. sigh This is all so passive-aggressive and I really don't need the anxiety. How do I deal with him? I'm afraid to say anything because it could trigger another melt down. Then again, maybe that's what needs to happen? I just don't know. :(

- he certainly was giggling like a school girl at the references. It was so funny because he's seen the movie many times before but it's just registering now. :D

- We live in the sticks so there's no public transport of any kind. He just doesn't care to learn. He's a homebody and can walk anywhere he needs to. I guess his mind will change when there is somewhere he wants to go but can't because he can't drive. :D (Pinging twice so she sees this next installment of the drama lama.)

What did you spell wrong? Was it Anthologies? The only reason it's spelled right by me is spell corrector. LOL!! Either way I didn't know exactly what it meant until I Googled it. :-P I watch some goofy stuff when I work out. For a while I was watching Animal Crossing build outs and tips. D'oh!! A while back I was liking Never Have I Ever and Karate Kid but eventually I got bored with both of them. When I'm on the elliptical what I'm watching has to hold my attention or it's torture. I was listening to podcasts for a while and Serial was my fav but only 3 seasons. I started the 3rd episode of Cabinet of Curiosities today. I really liked the first one but the 2nd one with the rats wasn't quite as good. I keep thinking the show's name is Cabinet of Curios because of the subeta shop Cavern of Curios. 😂

And that's why I've had to cut back on AC. Truly sucks as I love it so much.

Nice! Did you get to play him much? I feel like I've made plenty of characters and either never played them or only played for a session or two. Yeah, I feel like a lot of evil characters end up going more morally grey over time. I can think of a handful of characters in games that started off evil but redeemed themselves and were part of the crew.

It's definitely taken me a few times to get a joke or something before. I can't think of an example, but yeah :P I read a little of what you posted to the others and I'm sorry you're going through family difficulties. That's really tough!

I've wanted to watch Never Have I Ever, but never got around to it. Sometimes I just rewatch the same stuff over and over again, haha. Podcasts are hit or miss for me, in the sense that I have to really be in the right mood/focus to enjoy them or I don't hear/process most of the episode. But Sawbones is a fun one about weird medical history. It's humorous and informative, if you've never heard of it. The 3rd episode is my favorite! The Autopsy. I've watched it like 4 times now. I enjoyed the 1st episode, but it was a little hard to get into since the main guy was unlikeable. The rats one was just boring to me. There was no one I was interested in and the rats were kinda gross lol.

I'm really really horrible at spelling! LOL! Never Have I Ever was weirdly really likable and then the latest (3rd) season kind of flopped for me. Not sure if it was the season or me but I loved the first 2. I agree about podcasts! As much as I love watching Rachel Maddow on TV I thought I would like her podcast "Ultra" but sadly it seemed boring. I'll check out Sawbones soon!! Ooooh now I'll be excited to work out tomorrow morning to watch E3. Hopefully. :-D :-P

not in a d & D setting now. but I do rp him a lot. :) I find the exactly the same problem with d and d. Not many people to play with me. Exactly. People wind up putting in morality and such into the evil characters that honestly, probably shouldn't be there.

Yeaahh, I had a really rough start to life. There's a lot that happened to me before I was put into foster care when I was 18 months. It's a lot...I recently got my adoption records and Alex and I read them together and it's heartbreaking. It's hard because I was so young I can't remember...it's almost like reading a story happening to another child but then I remember it was me they are talking about and it hurts a lot. It's a strange weird pain that I can't really explain.

Oh that's really hard, luckily I do have some kind of experience with this through both my adopted and bio mom. I would suggest you tell him straight forward. If it causes a big meltdown that's his problem not yours. He is an adult and he needs to act like it if he want's a relationship of any kind with you. It's tough but it's all part of having self respect and confidence to accept that you deserve better and not to settle for anything less. I am so sorry this is happening. If you need more advice let me know.

Also for your son that's fair. If he can walk anywhere that's okay. I grew up in a small town and I rode my bike everywhere while others got cars so I understand that, but I also didn't really have places to go up until I was in my 20s lol

I try to be really careful about shaking too many. But, pinecones, decorations, etc. It's my right thumb and I had surgery on my wrist years ago for it. I sometimes shake the trees with my index finger and it helps a little. :-P So now you know why I really appreciated you giving me all of the Christmas decorations. <3 But it's probably not good for your thumb/wrist either.

I agree with . If he's going to be a spoiled child, and act like that to you, you deserve better. He's supposed to be the parent in this relationship, not you. I would seriously call him on it, then consider just cutting ties if it doesn't get better. You deserve someone who cares about you, and isn't just contacting you for whatever reasons suit them.

- Thank you all for your advice. It's helpful because it gives me differing perspectives. Right now he's being pleasant. Over the past communications, before the melt down on Halloween, two things stood out. The first is that he's lonely. He doesn't converse with his family and has one real life friend that he has sporadic contact with. Second, and I have no official word on this, he seems to be suffering from the beginnings of dementia. I understand that neither is my responsibility. He has said nothing about his melt down at all. I'm not sure how to handle this as I don't want to make my stand just to have him ask me wtf I'm talking about because he's forgotten it.Maybe I should hook him up with that AI chatbot that's writing thesis papers for uni students these days. That would solve the problem. lol

Been there done that! At a certain point I started to feel guilty getting rid of Liz's stuff so I would make her help me. I would hold something up and say "keep it or give it away" and then I would put it in one of two piles. I always thought she didn't quite get it the first time but she caught on quick after that. 😂

My main game switched from being D&D to kinda being our own fantasy RP gradually, so I totally understand that. :) For sure! I don't know if I could play a 100% evil character myself, so I wouldn't even try haha. Chaotic, though, that's my jam. Or sometimes lawful, but usually based on their own set of laws, not necessarily society's laws, you know?

That's really cool you change once a day! I think I only make a new HA a few times a week, because sometimes it takes quite awhile to get it just right. Going through unused wears is a good idea. I should do that sometime. But yeah, there's always more awesome items to collect.

hugs back I have a somewhat complicated family, so I know how things can be. I'm glad you feel comfortable asking for advice, too! I feel like some people don't do that enough and getting different opinions, like you said, can be so helpful. I think sometimes people can also feel embarrassed about their outbursts and choose to just ignore them instead of addressing them. I'm going through that now with some family, who want to gloss a conflict over by giving my partner & I gifts and pretending nothing happened. But, yeah, you have no obligation to take care of him or even communicate with him. I hope it all works out without being too much more stress.
