- i don't mind if you ask. i'm just not quite sure how to answer. it's not one thing like bronchitis. i'll just do what i always do with my family when i'm not sure how to explain. i'll just be blunt. at the ripe old age of 43 an infection in my ascending colon went septic. when the infection breeched the blood vessels, the vessels reacted as they're supposed to and created clots. the clots carried the infection with them as they found their way through my cardio-vascular system. five clots made it to my brain. this stroked me out.the infected blood clots are called septic emboli (singular -embolism)and the end product was a bilateral septic stroke(or strokes if you want to count each of the 5 individually.) because of the sepsis i now have clotting issues . in order to save me the docs had to resection my ascending colon. that took 3 operations. there was nothing they could do about the septic strokes, though. i was in a coma for over 2 weeks.it wasn't until i woke up that they knew for sure that i was blind, and that wasn't the only surprise the strokes left behind. i was in the hospital for the bettre part of a year. then i had home health care for another year. now they come out when i call saying i need a bit of help. i had to relearn how to walk, brush my hair, dress myself, all the things we take for granted. i tell you, i never want to go through that again. i understand why 2 and 3 year olds are cranky now.it's a pain to learn that stuff. seven years later ( oh noes, you now know how old i am o.o ) and i'm living as best i can. i understand how fragile everything is and how short a time we have so i make the best of it. :D ❤ :D

i'm putting this on a different line because i want to make sure you see it: please do not be afraid to ask any questions you have about my illness and recovery. i don't mind talking about it. :)

- yes, it was. it was the singular most devestating thing to happen to me up to that point. it took me years to get over it. i didnn't really start accepting the factfor about 3 years. my poor family was at it's wit's end. they'd done everything to facilitate my recovery, even moved house to one more suited to my physical disabilities. (i can't navigate stairs.) what finally pulled me out of my funk was audibles of all things. i got engrossed in the books and found it helped because one thing i loved more than video games was/is books. i have a ton of books. i even love the way they smell. so gradually the books saved me. they got me reinterested in writing and that lead to the screen reader. i do want to thank you for looking it up. a lot of people don't even do that and then get huffy when i explain i can't do what they want because the screen reader doesn't allow it. the screen reader then lead to subeta which has helped me tremendously to accept my disabilities. :D ❤ :D

- i'll ad "plots" to the short list. i'll have the grumpy one check it out first, though. it sounds like it does about half of what i want it to but knowing places to go for certain tools is always a good thing. honestly, cost isn't a factor really. the grumpy one likes tobudget for higher priced items so we don't have to cut into savings. he's already bought scrivener for me and the laptop came with ms word. the learning curve isn't an issue either as no matter which one i chose i'll have to learn how to use it. :) it's really about what the program offers that wil allow me to do what i want. so far scrivener is in the lead but i don't know what dragon can or can't do yet so it's still anyone's guess which i'll end up with. :D

no worries! It is P L O T T R for the plotter thing not just Plots hehe! I can message you their website if you'd like so you have it handy :) And yeah personally I'm probably going to get back into my writing and I'll probably be using a voice recorder on my phone with a headset...and then using Dragon on my computer to "transcribe each chapter" and edit as I go along. Still trying to figure out how I want to plot. There's so many ways to do that and it gets confusing trying to figure out if I want to use 3 act, 4 act, Story Structure, Story Engineering, Dan Harmon's plotting, etc...there's so many so I'm still trying to find my legs on the plotting LOL I found scrivener extremely challenging to use myself LOL but if you don't mind the learning curve than you'd probably love it :) I guess I just like Dragon for the voice to text as that would be better for me with limited time/kiddo in the household so I can get bigger word counts faster but you've got to work with whichever fits your needs best of course :) I know you can't write in dragon since its voice to text LOL so its not like Scrivener in that aspect. :) Another program I have is called Novel Factory if you wanted something else to look up too :) hopefully you find something that works for you :)

as for outlining, i've never done it. pre-illness i just wrote by the seat of my pants.i haven't written anything post-illness so i'm not sure if i can still pull off the "seat of my pants" writing like i used to.i have heard that outlining helps you get from beginning to end when you're not sure how to do it. i've also heard that it helps you get past rough spotsand helps you fix continuity errors. since i don't think the same way i used to i should probably try to outline. :) try each type and see which one , or if any, work for you. easiest way to do it. :D

The technology these days is honestly amazing! I'm so glad that you have a screen reader and are able to do the things you love again <3 I used to LOVE reading books. I have about 50 unread books in my closet. I've been telling myself all week to pick out a book and start reading again kicks myself I haven't read a book in 3 years. I totally understand, nothing beats the smell of a book 😍 Is it weird that I like the way older books smell better than newer ones? I have some books from the 80s that I love to sniff 😂

Stupid retail kicks it I very much enjoy going into Target now that I don't work there anymore LOL! HAH! No! But she sleeps pretty good most nights (: She woke up once last night, so I'm definitely not complaining lol. She sleeps so much better than Jesse did. But I really do think it helps that Jesse keeps her awake a lot during the day lol When he was a baby he never had any interruptions and could take nice long naps. But I did notice 2 of her bottom teeth are starting to poke through a smidgen so sleepless nights may be in my future soon dies

- no, no one who knows me would consider me a "happy" person. i'm a realist with a very dry and sometimes very dark sense of humor. the thing that changed was my perspective.i used to take everything so seriously. it took me being slapped in the face by my own mortality for me to realize that98.99% of the stuff we encounter during a day is not as serious as i first thought. it wasn't an easy transition, though, and i'm glad to be towards the end of it now. ;) :D

Pretty sure working at Target is one of the hardest retail jobs. I know you've told me it's bad and I've also heard other Target employees say the same. That makes so much sense about kids. I've always thought 1st born were more difficult. LOL She's so lucky to have a big brother!

I've messaged you the link to it :P Its not a mad libs type deal lol :P Its just got sections for like a skeleton plot and you chose your plot template based on what kind of story you are writing (hero's journey, romance, thriller, crime, whatever) and it has info on each one to give you a general idea "what" it is so you can fill in the blanks essentially (basically hitting plot points like movies/shows do) so that the reader is left feeling satisfied. But yeah characters, locations, basic skeleton, I think a little notepad thing too where you can rearrange the notecards as you go along :) Its pretty cool

Same on the outlining...its tough! The only problem I have is if I'm just going by the seat of my pants...I am probably not hitting the plot points I need to in order to connect with readers LOL XD And I feel you...I think all the books I've read in the past mess with my head on ways to outline and kind of created its own writers block for me. I might try to do some different ways of outlining like writing a scene from the middle or write the ending and then work my way through how did the character get here and here and connect it that way because writing from the beginning to the end doesn't really connect with my brain...I will have like random scenes/stories/characters talking in my head but its NOT from the beginning LOL! so I suppose I should try and work with how my brain works first :P here's to us both finding our voice <3
