I'm not sure how I feel about this new challenger, being a subscription. But I want the books But I don't use Pay pal and site will not accept my international card? I respect the need for a company to require an income. I'm torn.

I was little agitated at this being locked behind a subscription at first (and I have an active one and this challenger unlocked) but its really not a huge issue once you let your initial thoughts pass and you look at the situation in detail.

There are over 100 challengers between just the normal and secret challengers every user has the same access to.

Ever user also have access to the over 100 Cash shop challengers over time by earning CSC through Morty Cards or purchasing it with the equivalent in earned sP.

This is ONE challenger out of the more than 200 currently active and available challengers. It's also not an extremely hard challenger so the loot drops will eventually stabilize in the market. They do need to know the constant revenue stream to keep things moving as a business and as someone who doesn't care about CW's at all - the previous subscription models have done nothing to keep me wanting to keep it active vs. just understanding im supporting the site.

With that said - I do think it's reasonable to have these become normal cash shop challengers after an extended period of time, but unfortunately that time would need to be long enough people would be more inclined to wait it out (a year?).

They did mention this is NOT the new normal. So as long as that's true....its really not a big issue.

I already see some books that are now in circulation and affordable that is a plus.

It is usually possible to use Paypal without an account. Doesn't it work for the subscription?

I don't have a paypal account never had one before I have no idea on setting one up, lol . I'm old school I pay cash for almost everything, It is extremely rare I buy online. I use a credit card debit card for items when I'm not carrying enough cash.

That's why I mentioned it should work without an account. What happens when you create a payment method, pick Paypal and than the option to pay with a credit card instead the login?

Yeah, I don't mind missing one challenger in all honesty. Doesn't give a lot of EXP to tempt me either, the books will probably drop in price. If I really wanted to battle it, I'd get a sub, do all my battles in a day, then cancel the sub.

I just wish there was a subscription tier for battlers. I couldn't care less about wearables.

I think it's a little weird to tie it to a subscription since it probably makes it the only thing on the site that isn't in anyway possible to unlock as a free to play player, and it seems like they are hoping that people will start a subscription and forget to cancel it.

Where if they keep it as a reward for having a subscription and add it as a cash shop unlockable item it would fix those problems.

but it's also probably the most value-packed into a 5$ purchase on the site if you just activate a subscription and cancel it so I don't think it's the scummiest thing in the world either.

[edit] nvm didn't realize you lose access to it if you cancel your subscription.

i think it would be nice if they did this alongside releasing challengers for other collections like people have suggested ;o

eg/ in a year they made the book challenger unlockable with an item, but they added a plushie-focused challenger to the subscription at the same time

so you could buy the book challenger on its own or subscribe and have both challengers, etc

• edit/ more specifically i think it would make sense to have the book challenger 500 csc/$5 cos then. subscribing for $5 for TWO challengers looks v tasty

It’s OK? I’d rather something like a monthly challenger voucher, but I guess they’re trying different ideas to make subscribing more apealing, which in and of itself is nice to see.

Does the book challenger have special prizes? I've noticed challengers drop special stuff usually after 5 wins, is that standard? Is there other win levels?

Edit: ok at 10 I got a wishlist item .. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

The book challenger appears to get increasingly difficult, and drops rare books every 10th win through win 60. There is a noticable increase in difficulty at level 51. He drops lots of tomes primarily for wins past 50.
