Just got home from my eye doctor. It is possible they can do something for me, not sure yet. Going to see a 3rd doc to determine. o-o

doubtful they can do much for my vision, but possibly other issues I have. I am going to be nervous waiting to hear the final verdict. o-o

the garage door key works (it needed a lot of oil in the lock), and as long as I can somehow get rusted screws off the base of the garage door (that's what's holding in a plastic thing on the base, which is now rubbing on the driveway), the garage door should be working properly!

That sounds like it's going to be a very busy week hands over a lorry load of patience ;)

gathers up the luck I think I'll need it - it was bad enough asking dad to find me a screwdriver in the garage (that took about 10 minutes for him to find one that wasn't suitable, let alone one that was!) :P

I am impressed you are even attempting to fix it, I don't think I would have dared to touch it. lol It is always nice to be able to fix stuff yourself tho, rather than having to hire someone to do it. :)

Thanks! Tomorrow I am going to Ikea with my dad to pick up some light fixtures for my flat and a couple other things I need. :)

with most things Mum tends to say that she wants to pay someone to fix stuff, but I'm trying to get her to let me try to sort it to start with! Dad doesn't oil the garage door anywhere near often enough (it sounds terrible when it's opened), so I'm not surprised the lock needed some oil ;) I might try just putting even more oil on the screws and letting it sit for a while, in the hope it might free up where they've rusted solid, as there's just 8 more screws to go, to get that bit off the bottom of the door!

Hopefully Ikea have everything you're after :D

:P ironically that was after Mum had tidied the garage to make things easier to find :P How's the painting going?

hehe I thought it'd be reasonably easy to find - it's not like I was asking for something really technical that he didn't have a clue what it'd even look like! :P

😮 You're really cracking on with progress with that!

Hope the oil does the trick. :) That is one advantage with living in an apartment building.. less maintance. :)

I did get everything I wanted! :D New lamp for the kitchen ceiling, and nightlamps for my bedroom. Plus new blinds and a couple other small things. :D

Thanks. ❤ How is your little project coming along? :)

that's true - it must be good to not have the hassle of being responsible for the outside of your place! ;)

That's fantastic! Whenever I've tried going somewhere to get lots of bits, I usually find there's at least three things that aren't available :P

I know I would not want that. ;) I feel I have enough with taking care of my little flat. :)

That is often how it goes. :P Thankfully not this time. Now I will be able to see better when I am cooking, which is nice. :)

Do you have to clean the outside of the windows, or is there a company that does all the outside windows at the same time?

That's always helpful! Our kitchen lights are a little dim really (so it's not always easy to see how strong the mug of tea is :P), but I can't handle the really bright lights so this was the best we could find that worked in our light fitting. I'm hoping eventually we'll be able to get the kitchen completely redone, so we could have some more modern lighting in there as well (but that's going to take forever for Mum to find a company she's happy with!)

haha guess you were wrong XD lol then I think you'll be super impressed with today's work. I finished the third and final coat of the sink side lower cabinets as well as the back of the doors. I then sanded and finished half of the re-priming the uppers. I'm flat out.

read upbove :P we had to change from oil to latex paint so have to re do the upper cabinet.

I live on the first floor, and there is no place to stand to clean the windows on the outside (nor can you turn them inside out), so we do have a cleaning service for that thankfully. :D

It is not always easy to decide on a design etc. :) Hopefully you can find some lights that wont bother your eyes too much but still allow you to see what you need to see. :)

That sounds exhausting. o-o Bet it will look great! :D Mum has been here for a walk and dinner. Just relaxing now. :D

😮 how much more is there left to do?

Does your Mum approve of the colour now?

That's always helpful! We tend to resort to just reaching through the small top window, and using a cloth strapped to the end of a ruler to reach the bottom of the lower window for the upstairs ones (it's two floors up at the front of the house, as the garage is underneath) :P But windows that turn so you can clean the outside from inside would make things a lot easier ;)

nods I think the lighting is going to be a challenge to make sure it's not too bright, but still brighter than we have at the moment! But also getting a new kitchen would mean we can finally get a blind on the window to stop the sunlight from streaming in and reflecting on the toaster & kettle :P

we have three side by side bottom cabinets on the window side as well as two uppers. We also have a double free standing cabinet. Not counting the one I'm now currently workign on. Ooh love today's look!
Yes, thankfully mum does.

I can't even do that, reach from the inside. lol So I am very glad we have the window cleaning service. :)

That does sound like a bit of a challenge, but there might be some solutions that could work. Like light fixtures that can be dimmed etc? :)

My kitchen cabinets are not the prettiest, but in good condition so I am keeping them as is. xD I have to paint one of my window sills tho, as having flower pots there has kinda made the paint chip.

bummer about the paint chipping. You could put something under the pots to prevent that next time. :)
