”Oh hello,” said Hanna trying to play innocent. She didn’t want this officer kicking her out of the crime scene, the way the one she stumbled across in the parlor had nearly escorted her from the house. He looked very young, early twenties for sure, maybe around her own age. The officer looked startled by her sudden appearance.

Hanna made up her mind to try to pry some information out of him. She surmised that Miranda had a secret admirer who had wanted Wolf gone, and succeeded. The question burning in her mind was best answered by Miranda, but she had a query for the law as well. “Are the police able to identify unknown senders on mobile phones?”

Miranda sat down at the kitchen work counter and began bawling. This murder was too much for her to comprehend. Detective Andrews walked over to her and said "now now Miss, it's going to be allright. Don't you cry. Miranda looked up at him with her best wide eyed innocent gaze and said, "Detective Andrews, do you think that maybe Wolf was really a woman in disguise? Maybe Aunt Belladonna is not as open minded as she pretends to be. Maybe she suspected something was wrong when she saw his pink tattoo, pink phone, and all the rest of it. A Hate Crime?? Hmm, The detective narrowed his eyes in speculation.

The stress of the day was leaving May exhausted to the point of tears. Nevertheless, she had one burning question in her mind and a cup of coffee in her hand, and quietly sidled up to an exhausted looking police officer. Quietly, she offered him the cup. Outfit Not Found

"Has anyone seen any of Miranda's exes around?" She asked, wide-eyed and innocent.

Liliana approached Officer Snow who seemed to be the last intimidating arm of the law so far. He looked quite bored already with his task, perhaps he was up to a chat?

„Wolfram seems such a nice boy, taking care of his grandmother all the time!“ Liliana reflected. "Certainly, he inherited a lot of her fortune. Was he on good terms with the other two grandchildren of her as well?“

You approach Officer Snow with a question in mind, feeling like an investigator inside your mind. Sure, he looks a bit young and certainly isn't a big deal in the department, but your question isn't intricate, so there's a high chance he's able to provide you the answer you're looking for.

"Hello, Officer Snow. My name is Fernanda, I'm a friend of Miranda and was completely shocked by Wolf's death. I heard some... things that made me question." You make a brief pause to avaliate the officer's expression. He seems open to cooperate with you -- as long as you're not too nosy, of course. "Is, by any chance, one of the other two grandchildren of Wolf's grandmother an ex of Miranda?" [/box]

Garrin finds Detective Fields quite easily and decides to have a conversation with her. He figures he can give information in hope that some is returned. "I happened to be in the garden earlier and noticed a few things." This seems to get the detectives attention so Garrin continues as she actually looked over towards him.

"Well, I noticed that the garden area was exquisitely cleaned and organized, which is not how the crime scene is. Don't you find that a bit unusual, that someone you suspect is a rather organized, thoughtful, and precise person?" Garrin does not wait for her to answer, he continues plowing ahead. "What I am saying is that it seems whomever did this had a real hostility with motive. I have a few educated guesses what they might be."

Garrin clears his throat a bit uncomfortably, since now he's thinking he's treading into some uncharted territory and the detective might blow him off. "What I think is that someone was obsessed with Miranda and did not want her to marry Wolf. I have seen many clues that lead me to believe this person has showered her in roses of all varieties and makes. I am sure you know of these clues and the person who is responsible for the creation of a great many of these roses."

After a short pause and meaningful eye glance, Garrin clarifies, in case the detective is not catching his meaning. "I mean the cook. He is disordered and a bit chaotic. A lot of the clues have mysteriously been attached to the kitchen or areas in which the cook would have been likely to visit. He has the ability to access the entire inside of the house. He also seems clumsy enough to fall from the window he presumably tried to escape from. So have you checked his body or shoe size to see if it matches the markings left outside the window, or if he is dirty or scratched?"

"One more thing!" Garrin says while thrusting his finger into the air as added visual punctuation. "Ask the cook why he gives such cheap jewelry to a girl like Miranda and see how he responds. If he was a stalker, or if they were lovers, you will soon find your answer." Garrin smiles a bit while he waits for the detective to maybe slip in an answer, or anything. He's shooting in the dark but any information would be better than nothing, in his opinion.

Beryl approaches Detective Andrews. Her own level of paranoia on high after being trapped in a pantry for hours, that and it was this very detective that even bothered to help her out of there in the first place.

The poor man really looked like he saw better days:

Outfit Not Found

Standing next to the detective, Beryl looked down at his seventh cup of coffee wondering if it should be even legal to drink that much in two hours... sleep must be elusive for this guy.

"Detective Andrews, uh sir..." Looking around the room as police pull samples and other things that could be evidence. She looked back at the detective. Detective Andrew who looked irritated enough with his neighbor's dog, lack of sleep, too much caffiene and sniffling crying women for one even grimaced at Beryl, sighing "What now lady? Got another ribbon and a pantry to get stuck in?"

Pouting, Beryl looked at the detective "No. I'm just wondering with all that has happened... did you manage to find more about Wolf's past?" The detective scoffs at first finishing his coffee with a slightly irritated sigh. "Damn, and now I need more coffee to deal with this... situation. Where is Snow, I need more coffee!" He looks down and ogles Beryl's giant cup of espresso with intense interest.

Beryl, getting grumpy about this whole situation went to take a sip of her own coffee only to notice the detective's intense stare at her cup. Sighing, "Look I can get you more of this 100% Arabic coffee with a double shot of espresso... if you tell me what I want to know. Deal?"

The detective looks at her, then at the coffee, then around the room and once again back on Beryl... "You may have a deal... if I can have that cup you've got there right now." Beryl grins at the detective "Deal!"

In hindsight, Beryl did think he was a bit attractive... sigh, focus Beryl!

Outfit Not Found Here's my entry for the Chapter 4 Bonus HA Contest! This is Officer Snow, investigating the area outsite the bedroom window. Rey had spent the past hour poking around in the mansion's closets--her justification having been, "Everyone has skeletons in their closet"--but hadn't had much luck. So she took her chance to get some intel from this new officer. After some light small-talk about his dyed hair (he muttered something about hazing at the new job) she decided to ask him: "Hmm.. I wonder if anyone else involved has the last initial, B? Perhaps the chef, even? All the sugar roses in the kitchen.. I may not necessarily understand what it's like having a personal chef, but.. that shows a high level of devotion I've never heard of in an employee."

Lypsyl approached Detective Andrews, coffee cup in hand. Silently handing it to him, she gave him a moment to actually take a sip.

"Police work is so interesting," she started. She spent a few minutes talking and asking some general questions, to lull him into a sense of security.

"Forensic science has advanced so much recently, I've heard they can even get burned paper in readable shape by using acrylic lacquer on ashes! What kind of techniques do you suppose they might use on the contents of the cellar stove here?"

The kitchen was a mess. Arianwen wasn't sure if that was the doing of the servants, the chef, or the police. Nonetheless, she was able to find herself some coffee. And there were plenty of sugar roses. She ate one or two, since poison didn't leave knife wounds on people, and dropped another one into a mug of hot coffee.

After a moment, she made another mug of hot coffee and plopped a sugar rose into that one, too, then took it upstairs to Detective Andrews, who looked...incredibly tired.

"Rough night?" she asked softly.

The detective made a noncommittal noise, but he took the coffee.

"This is very upsetting," said Arianwen. "I keep wondering what I must have missed, but the truth is, I haven't seen Miri on a regular basis since we were schoolgirls, and I've been back at home in Ziara for years now."

She sighed.

After a moment, she realised she might as well just ask. "I have no idea why I keep thinking I should be able to be useful to you, or even to Miri at this point in time. I just want to know if Miri's all right. She didn't look well when I arrived. That's my opinion as a resident from Blackmoon U Hospital, not just as her friend, although I didn't comment then, and I probably should've. It's not like her to be late joining the crowd at her own party. It's not like her to be preoccupied when there are this many people about. It's not like her to leave someone new to a social circle alone, particularly when he's the guest of honour. Are you sure she's not ill? Because I wasn't, not when I thought about that. And I have absolutely no idea if she's unwell because of emotional stress, or guilt, or a virus, or poison. But I will say that I have known Miranda since we were schoolgirls, and I have never seen the slightest inclination that she's capable of brutal violence. And sure, love can make people do strange things. But she barely knew this man she was about to marry. She was in the grip of new relationship energy, and...I don't think she knew him well enough to get angry enough to do something like this...she might have thought she knew him well enough to marry him, but hormones cause infatuation. They don't cause rage."

Ashalind lent over the Save the Date cards and sadly wondered if the date would now be saved for the funeral. No, it was too soon to be upset about the surreal turn of events, someone was dead and there were questions still to be answered. Ash decided in that moment to help out as best she could. She'd always been good at observing people (just not that great at interacting with them), maybe she could finally put that skill to use.

She made her way back into the hall, hoping to find Detective Fields somewhere. On her wander she kept a careful eye out for any marks or fingerprints that might have been left on nearby door handles or jams, thinking that whoever smudged the marker on the graffiti'd card might still have a trace of the ink on their hands or clothes.

As she inspects the railing on the staircase for ink marks, trying to make it look like she was admiring the rose decorations, the very Detective she was seeking passed down the corridor murmuring to a tired looking colleague. Ash followed them out the front door at a discreet distance, looking for a moment to talk to the seemingly highly efficient Detective. Luck was on her side when Ash found her on the front step, looking at her phone. Ash just caught sight of the other Detective disappearing towards the side of the mansion.

"Huh. Déjà vu" at Ash's comment Fields turns and sees the guest standing in the open front door, a question in Fields expression.

"Oh uh I just thought it was the second time today that I'd come across someone so intent with a phone, and the first person was Wolf...what a weird day." Ash stepped out to stand on the step below the Detective.

"Yeah, a murder wasn't exactly what I was expecting today either" Fields replies, warily watching the guest out of the corner of her eye.

"I was just gathering my thoughts in the Conservatory and noticed some smudged graffiti defacing some wedding materials, it looked fresh," Ash figured she'd at least try to explain why she was still inside despite the suggestion everyone could leave. "I'm not sure if one of your people have seen it yet, so I thought I'd mention it."

"Sure, thanks." Slightly veiled suspicion turns to curiosity as Fields replies. "I'll get someone on it"

Ash stood there awkwardly for a few seconds not quite sure how to continue without seeming intrusive or sketchy, in the end deciding to just go for it before Fields assumed she was finished with the conversation and went back to work.

"I'm not that great with segues and much too curious for my own good so I hope you'll forgive my prying, but did I hear you mention a job application to the other Detective just now? Do you know if it was Miranda's? I've only really become friends with her recently, but I kind of assumed she spent most of her time shopping and collecting roses, but she must have some kind of income to live such a lavish lifestyle. I hope Wolf wasn't daunted by the whole thing. I guess not, since they were planning on tying the knot...although I don't know his background either, maybe he's super rich or something..." Ash quit her babbling, hoping she hadn't confused the Detective with her rambling thoughts. Trying to summarise she added "I just hope my friend isn't having money troubles, now with all this happening as well..." She ended by weakly waving an arm towards the abandoned party and police cars in the driveway. Looking back up at the Detective, she quietly waited to see if there would be a response.

((to clarify - my question is about the job application :P was it Miranda's, or maybe Wolf's?))
du dun duunnnnn

((oh my gosh why do my attempted short responses always turn into a friggin novella. and i still haven't made a HA for poor Ash. hopefully i'll give her a physical form by the time this ends...))

Finding his way back through the lavish first level of the home, Cin stepped back out into the garden and took a deep breath of fresh air. Well it still smelled flowery out here, but much less concentrated. Maybe they made perfume with these flowers. The entire family seemed obsessed with them...

Outfit Not Found Deciding to explore a bit more of the garden, Cin happened upon a detective who looked about to fall asleep where he stood. The cup of coffee in his hand clearly was not helping much as he seemed to be blearily investigating an area that had been marked off beneath a window. Glancing from the window to the ground Cin assumed someone had made their escape this way. Usually law enforcement would keep quiet about what they knew. But maybe Cin could use the detectives' tiredness to his advantage.

“Hey there…” Cin said softly in greeting to make his presence known, still a few yards from the man. He wasn’t trying to startle the detective into drawing a weapon on him. “Seems like a gamble to jump from all the way up there…” Detective Andrews looked up toward the youth clearly less than amused with having been interrupted.

Cin continued in his best nonchalant cadence. “Probably trying to avoid a scandal, I mean especially if anyone's been involved in anythin’ before all this...” Cin lifted a brow intentionally framing his inquiry as more a statement, in the hope of eliciting an indirect response. At the same time he hoped he wasn’t incriminating himself. Unfortunately familiar with the law, Cin had a few misdemeanor charges that had been reduced to an infraction thanks to his own wealthy parents stepping up, if only for the sake of their reputation. Either way, anything on record would be a good thing to take note of.

Rose's trip to the kitchen didn't turn up anything interesting, and she was apparently too slow as there were nothing but crumbs left.

Maybe there are still some pastries outside, where Richard and Roland were hanging out before this whole situation happened, Rose thought. She walked out of the kitchen and down the hallway toward the front door. Lost in her daydreams of pastries, she walked right into Detective Andrews as he slowly came around the corner.

"I am so sorry! Are you alright? I am so lost in my own thoughts today!" Rose continued to apologize as she helped the detective up. "Can I get you anything? I hope this doesn't come across as rude, but you look awfully tired."

The detective proceeded to tell Rose all about his neighbor's new dog and his sleepless nights.

"My, my. It sounds like you need to talk to that neighbor and get a decent night of sleep! By the way, do you know what Richard, the chef, has been so grumpy about today? He's normally so nice and proud of his work."
