chapter 1 - Introductions are Had

When you arrive at the beautiful estate by Veta Lake you're greeted by your dear friend Miranda.

"You're a little early, not that I mind. I'm feeling a little under the weather so I was going to lay down for a few minutes to freshen up before every arrives... Oh I know, why don't you go introduce yourself to Wolf? He's my fiance," she giggles a little, obviously smitten just talking about him, "Surprising isn't it? I just met him a few weeks ago and it's been a whirlwind romance. He doesn't really know any of my friends yet, so it'd be nice if he knew someone before this shindig kicks off. He's by the fountain near the back of the garden, the angel one? He's tall dark and handsome, you can't miss him."

With an airy laugh she waves and leaves you to your own devices. There's not much else to do right now then what she's suggested. Time to find this mysterious Wolf.

As you make your way out to the gardens you pass a pair of blonde women. One is certainly Miranda's older sister Nicolette. A quiet introvert whom you've only seen a handful of times, you can't imagine the hoops Miranda had to do to convincer her to attend a social gathering as big as this one promises to be. The other woman you've never seen before, but your friend has described her Auntie Belladonna enough times that you recognize that's who this stern and unfriendly woman must be.

Out in the garden the tables are being set up, and delicate china is being placed out. The estate's chef, Richard is fussing over the way a tray of tiny pastries looks, muttering to himself. He always was a bit eccentric, but the food he makes is nothing short of divine. The gardener Roland is about right now as well, doing a bit of last minute pruning on some rosebushes. He's probably the oldest hipster you know and he nods in greeting as you pass.

And finally, there in the back is the man of mystery himself. Miranda's one week fiance, Wolf. He looks bored as he plays some mindless time killing game on his cellphone and has yet to notice the company.

The prompt is as simple as just introducing yourself to Miranda's fiance, Wolf. Your name and a little about yourself. You choose to 'play' as either yourself or a character of your own invention. Be creative! Feel free to add a little of your character's feelings, or what they think of some of the people or things they've come across. I will try to respond to some prompts, but I can't promise I'll get to everyone!

"Oh, hello! You must be wolf! I am Beach. Miranda and I go way back to hmmm...let's see high school. I was one of her teachers. I am so excited to be here as I haven't seen her for a few years! Tea is my favorite though so I'll be off to go tea and cookie tasting!! Nice to meet you! waving as she runs off to drink tea and find someone else to talk to

"Hmmmm," beach ponders the quiet young man she just met. "I hope he is right for Miranda and treats her well!"

I take a deep breath and walk towards Wolf, clutching my drink glass in my left hand. My eyes dart back and forth, admiring all the well-dressed company. "How was I even invited to this party?" I think. I haven't seen Miranda in years, and I knew she came from money, but this... Everyone here is dressed to the nines in custom pieces that cost more then I make in a year. The outfit I'm wearing probably fits the occasion well enough, but it's hard not to feel like they're going to notice how poor and unfashionable I am. And... are they all wearing hats? Shoot, I KNEW I forgot something!

I reach Wolf and extend my right hand. "Hi, you must be Wolf! I'm Zoe! I'm a friend of Miranda's from college. Congrats on the engagement!" I say with the most encouraging smile I can muster.

"Of course I'll go and introduce myself."

Arianwen Rosier was immediately worried. There were three reasons why someone might get engaged after knowing their prospective life partner for less than a month, and only one of them was love at first sight. Miranda saw the best in everyone, but that didn't mean it was always there.

Maybe this guy was really Miranda's perfect match. Or maybe his family and Miranda's family had plans of their own. Or maybe he was really. really slick.

Arianwen waved to Nicolette and Belladonna, but kept her distance. She really wanted to hear what Belladonna thought about this, given that the older lady did not always share Miranda's sunny view of humanity as a whole. She watched a woman she didn't recall (wait, was that one of their teachers?) introduce herself to Wolf and just as abruptly depart, then smiled when Zoe--she'd heard about Zoe in Miranda's letters from college--walked up and introduced herself.

Wolf seemed to be handling it all with equanimity.

"Hello, Zoe," Arianwen said as she joined them. "Miranda spoke fondly of you in her letters from University. We went to school together when we were younger. I'm Arianwen Rosier, and I'm from Upper Ziara. I've been working on my medical degree at the university there."

She nodded to Wolf. "And you must be...Wolf? I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but I don't know how to address you. Is that your given name, or your surname?"

The boots were nice. The clothes...were nondescript. No cravat, but Arianwen expected that outside of Ziara. She really wanted to know what the surname was. If she recognised it, that would tell her a lot. If she didn't, that would be another source of information.

Here's my entry! If you want me to suppress some parts of it that might interfere in the future story -- I swear I just tried to explain the reason to not release too much info about my character --, please lemme know ^^

As you approach him, you feel weird about something you're not quite sure what it is, and decide it's better to step back and only tell him your name and information that doesn't compromise you.

"Hmm... Hello there?"

You wait until the mysterious figure notices you and slightly raises his eyes from the smartphone screen. They come back to the device in a second and the fingers keep on typing. You decide to get rid of the introductions anyway.

"Hi, I'm Fernanda, but everyone calls me Fer. Your fiance told me to meet her new boyfriend back here. I'm friends with Miranda since middle school and we didn't hang out in a while, I'm so glad you both invited me to this tea party! It's always nice to get out and enjoy the perks spring brings to us.

"I see you're quite a party guy, huh?, no details left behind. I met your chef and the gardener in the way and they're really dedicated to this party."

Noticing his lack of interest in chatting, you decide to end the conversation.

"So... I'm heading back to check on Miranda and meet the other guests. Talk to you later!"[/box]

hey, an event sith writing involved, check it out!

As I see Wolf standing there playing a game, I feel strange introducing myself to someone I have never met and who seems so into their phone - but this party is for getting out of my comfort zone and meeting new people. Plus I know that Miranda is a great person so she probably wouldn't leave me to the wolves (haha - pun fun).

I am quiet when I walk but I notice Wolf didn't hear me as I approached - "Hi," a small start but it gets his attention a little, "My name is Lyn. I am friends with Miranda! I heard you were her fiance, you must be happy! How did you guys meet? Are you big on tea parties?" I am a little nervous so I might be babbling about different questions.

"How rude." Seoni sighed to herself. People and their cellphones. This was a social gathering. This man should be greeting the guests with Miranda. Not a good first impression.

Still, she should put her thoughts aside. He made Miranda happy. That's what counts. She could allow a second first impression. Being so harsh on people, finding flaws immediately, was a character trait she was trying to train out of herself. Now is as good as any time to continue her self-work. After all, Miranda saw past hers.

Seoni put on a smile. Feeling confident in her new dress she had bought just for the party, she headed towards the man. Her heels gently tapped on the cobbled stones. She stopped in front of him. He would have to look up eventually. When he did, Seoni would be ready.

"Hello, I am Seoni." Her voice was strong. She wanted to make a good first impression herself. She did not wait for him to reply. "You must be Wolf. I've been hearing wonderful things about you."

Caroline was rather annoyed when she received the invitation to the tea party. It could not have come at a worse time, since she had just been assigned to cover the latest war in Ammerstan, and her flight was set for the day after that darn party.....still...it would be great to see Miranda again and meet her fiance. Nobody had ever thought that plain Miranda would ever land a boyfriend, after all. Caroline decided to attend - at the very least she would get to see her old muck mate Miranda after so many years. Caroline sent up a silent prayer that there would be something a teeny bit stronger than tea at this party.

After talking to Miranda and weaving her way through the crowd, a young woman approaches the man on his cell phone. "Hello, you must be Wolf! My name is Cassildra. I'm one of Miranda's oldest friends. She calls me Cassi a lot." She smiles and offers her hand to Wolf to shake.

But still. A weeklong romance and they're engaged, Cassi thought with some annoyance that didn't reach her smile, let alone her eyes. Here's hoping nothing untoward is happening. I worry for Miranda.

She looks around, nodding to anyone she recognizes either by description or by having met them before.

"Not really a party person either, huh?" May is very a little awkward as she wanders up to the new man. She couldn't judge him on being quiet, not when even wearing bright colors like she was now made her uncomfortable at the possibility of attention. Miranda really attracted all types, so her fiance being, at a first glance, very different than she was really wasn't that hard to believe. Every extrovert needs their introvert to keep their feet on the ground, after all.
Even if it was a little fast, but an engagement didn't have to mean an instant wedding after all.

"The gardens are really beautiful this year. I hope I can get a quiet moment to take some pictures, after everything." She smiles hesitantly at Wolf. "Playing anything good?"

Private Outfit Fiance? What else was Miranda keeping from her? Lying down before the biggest party of the season? It wasn’t like her to be indisposed, or to let anything get in the way of hostess duties either. Fishy... Hanna's thoughts were a whirl. She pretends to be viewing the fountain until Wolf looks up from his phone. How gauche, using a prop to act as if you're above everyone at a party. Clearly he's not from high society since he has poor social graces.

"I'm Hanna Song. Miranda was my roommate at school."

The mysterious suitor offers his hand politely and Hanna shakes it. "Wolf. Pleased to meet you." She notes the conspicuous lack of a last name, and observes that his smile doesn't seem to quite reach his eyes. Miranda had always been flighty, but accepting an engagement from a man she just met really took the cake. Hanna's parents had taught her to be wary of getting too close to people too quickly. Who knew if it was truly Miranda Wolf was enamored of, and not her family's vast fortune?

Outfit Not Found Maudi noticed a tall dark man, who really stood out from the crowd. But not only because of his appearance. He seemed very aloof at first. A little smile appeared on her face. It's not that other people didn't think the same of her. "You must be the fiancé. I'm pleased to meet you. My name is Maudi Leatherwood."

Her face was partly covered by the lace of her hat. She has always been the mysterious, quiet type of person and she loved that about herself. It seems to be working against the wrong people.

Ah how Kat loved to smell the roses. She noticed the gardener and gave a big wave. Roses never smelled so sweet. Oh or was that the delicious food presented by Richard? She smiled delightfully as she made her way over to Wolf. “Pleasure to meet you Wolf I am Kat!” Kat said with a chipper disposition. This tea party was her favorite thing to do every Vesnali! She herself had a collection of tea pots at home and always enjoyed a good cup of tea hot or cold.

"Hi Miranda!", Beryl's cheery greeting was met with handing Miranda a lovely bouquet of daisies and bonnets. "I hope you don't mind them, If figured some flowers would be nice for the table."

Miranda smiled, but before she could grab the daisies she nearly loses balance, "I think I need to go lay down, go meet my lovely fiancee! He should be around here somewhere" Miranda grins a little before walking off to her home.

Noticing Miranda's paled complexion, "Well, alright then, I'll go meet him... Hope you feel better..." After Miranda leaves, she forgets to take the flowers as she dizzily makes her way inside.

Beryl looks on with worry. "I truly hope she is alright. A proposal in just one week? How strange..."

Outfit Not Found Once Miranda is out of sight, Beryl starts making her way through the gardens observing the guests already here. "Well the food looks nice, but something feels off about this party... really off" She makes her way to the chef only to be pushed out of the way.

Grimacing at the rudeness she makes her way to Miranda's sister Nicolette and aunt Belladonna, "Well, good afternoon ladies, I hope you're all having a nice time? I brought flowers but it seems Miranda forgot to take them", Nicollette looks at flowers nervously then side glances at Aunt Belladonna. Miranda's aunt scoffs "It's a tea party darling, in a divine rose garden no less! As if we need some hodgepodge handful of daisies! How uncouth of you and that dress, that is no way a lady should dress for a tea party! Have some class" Belladonna swats the daisies causing the bouquette to become nothing more than a pile of petals.

As the aunt briskly walks away with her nose up, Nicolette pats Beryl's shoulder, whispering softly "I'm sorry about her, she's been in a very rotten mood as of late. The flowers were a lovely thought though."

Nicollette looks at Beryl and then begins walking away as well.

Beryl bite's her tongue and nods. Looking at the ground she pouts, "Well that wasn't very civilized, poor Nicolette and Miranda. To have an aunt like that must be daunting to deal with, no wonder Miranda looked out of it."

Beryl keeps looking for the fiance as she passes by the strange gardener. She finally spots him on his phone. "Huh... not a very polite lad is he."

Finally getting the man's attention, he only gives a slight nod of recognition before zoning back into whatever he was doing on the phone.

Private Outfit "Well then, he's definitely not my cup of friendship tea..."

Name - Garrin Quennell Physical attributes - Tall, dark hair, green eyes. Pale skin because he spends all day reading books inside. Only recently he's begun to get freckles and burn because he's been going out and exploring more in the real world (to find out if his boos are true, and to learn more). Personality - Thoughtful, not very funny but can randomly be witty. He can be very observant, yet more often than not he gets himself into trouble by not being very observant of things not relating to whatever it is he is hyper focused on in that moment.

Miranda invited Garrin to this party of hers, and for the life of him, he can't imagine why. Miranda was always nice to him but they were never super close. Usually, she just liked to stare blankly over his shoulder when he began to talk about the most recent book that he'd stumbled upon. However, Garrin was an excellent listener, so he heard everything she had to say about all these random people in her life, many of whom he thought might actually be toxic friends whom she should get rid of. He did give advice or thoughts every so often, which she hardly ever used. The one thing they shared was probably a love of reading, though she liked to read romance novels, dramas, and other more light materials. That is probably how they became friends, after that random meeting in the library - oh, and Garrin thought she was cute.

Auntie Belladonna is one of those people whom Garrin had heard a lot about but never met. Garrin walks by her and smiles politely. As he makes his way through the garden he sees Wolf, Miranda's fiance and decides to just go talk to him. Garrin walks over, shoulders his way through a few more strangers, and sits down in the empty chair right beside the strange man. Wolf never looks up from his cell phone. Garrin clears his throat and coughs a few times, but still, Wolf never moves.

Garrin takes a book out of his pocket and slams it down on the table. This makes Wolf jump and look up. "Oh, hello," Garrin says as if the noise had been an accident. "I am Garrin, Miranda's friend." The smile on his lips was pleasant looking, or so he'd hoped. Garrin extends his hand to shake in greeting, to which Wolf responds with a quick short grasp.

Wolf mumbles a hello and tries to go back to playing his game but Garrin stares intently, while asking questions about how Wolf and Miranda met. The conversation seems to ebb and flow naturally for a few short minutes before Wolf excuses himself to an important text on his phone and looks down once more.

"Hullo~" Julius waves towards the man by the angel statue. "I'm Julius. I live next door."

Wolf nods in acknowledgment. Julius takes a seat on the edge of the fountain, opens his book, and reads besides the young man playing on his phone.

Outfit Not Found Crowds and parties were not Skylar Van Allen favorite things. She somehow felt like it would’ve been incredible rude not to attend given that she lived just down the street. Neighbors for so long, she could surely stop by for a bit. Miranda had instructed her to say hello to her fiancé of a week, Wolf.

“Hey, I’m Skylar and I live just down the street.”

amazing writing so far guys! I'll be responding to some, but not all of these. If I think I can build story off it I'll go for it.

Wolf looks up from his phone, he seems disinterested "Zoe? I think I remember Miri mentioning you. Thank you. Not too many people seem honest about the congratulations but you do."

Plain compared to some of the other guests yes, but he can see where his fiance values this girl's friendship.

"My name?" the young man's eyes narrow. He does little to disguise the fact that he doesn't really care for that line of questioning, "You can call me Wolf. Just Wolf. That's my whole name."

Which is, quite frankly, ridiculous but he doesn't seem keen on elaborating further. He looks back at the phone and reaches up to brush some unruly hair from his eyes. His sleeve pulls back just enough that a bandage wrapped around his forearm is briefly visible

Wolf shrugs in a noncommitted sort of way when referred to as the 'party guy'. He makes a few vague acknowledgements to the conversation but seems particularly annoyed when the chef is brought up. Seems like some bad blood there.

"I met her through an acquaintance," he replies, though doesn't elaborate any further, he doesn't really take his eyes off the game he's poking away at, "I actually don't like tea, I'm a coffee person. I'm here for... emotional support."

He doesn't say why he's support, though his eyes do drift briefly up in the direction of Miranda's aunt.

"Seoni?" as soon as he drops her hand he's back to the game, "I think I've heard Miri mention you before. She has so many friends it's hard to keep track."

He glances up from his screen and at the slowly growing gathering, "I thought tea parties were usually small."

"Cupcake Smasher," he shrugs, and tilts the screen so May can see. Sure enough there's the game, screen full of brightly colored cupcakes to squish, "Not really my thing, but Miri couldn't get past this level and told me to try and beat it for her."

On closer inspection the phone he's holding does have a case with pink roses printed on it. That's not to say a guy COULDN'T have a phone case like that, but Miranda's love for pink roses is nigh legendary.
