Kinda feels... I dunno. Having a headmate isn't being "two-faced," that has implications of like, being manipulative and a liar and stuff. And the desc "Do you even know who you really are?" kinda hits weird, as a system. None of us are more "real" than the others. I love Mori and Nori, they're some of my favorite characters on here, but a lot of their stuff needs at least somewhat reworked.

first of all using "what" rather than "who" even when referring to the whole "what gender is quentin" jokes this site used to have, feels pretty dehumanizing. The whole "what gender is quentin" thing was very uncomfy imo. second of all the whole concept for this book is weird and creepy. I feel like this is a relic of a time where Quentin's gender was treated very weird, and invasive and weird things like this were the norm.

I would suggest just changing it to something like "Who am I? The Quentin Story" (though maybe it would have to be something that goes with "What" since its on the art, maybe something like "What's it like to be me? A day in the life of Quentin" and then changing the description to match.

How it is rn is really yikes imo. I know subeta has made a lot of progress over the years and has done a great jpb updating and developing quentin's character, but seeing this today was a big reminder of what we've progressed on from

edit: im still thinking about this lol... from their subetapedia entry it does seem that people also question what species quentin is (so the book COULD be speculation on that, but with how the "mystery gender" aspect of thier character used to be its not hard to just tie the two together a lot), but that isn't true as well, since after the introduction of the subeta "races" they are officially a Ji-Meneb (on the subetapedia article for the councilors, its stated that Quentin is related to Dmitri), meaning that quentin's entry stating people don't know if they are a demon or not is out pf date

but another point i wanted to make was that Quentin is also pretty private about themselves, so a book like this would be pretty invasive at worst, and out of character from them at best

If zombie skin names are being included, I'd like to also add Lobotomeat to that list, because it references a horrifying real life practice. It may not be done anymore, but that name has always rubbed me the wrong way, and I remember several people voicing similar concerns about it.

should have a name change. it's a word for a ghost/spirit, but it's also a racial slur. maybe something like bogfire wisp, since the description seems to be a will-o-the-wisp reference?

The description for led me to look it up, I just googled "black dahlia" to see what would come up and it turns out it's a famous murder case (I've heard of the movie but never knew what it was about). And a seriously gruesome one at that (I would advise against reading anything about it if you're squeamish).

The description may be vague, but just saying "don't go there" is still referencing that case. It would probably make anyone who knows about it think about it, and other people (like me) might decide to look it up. The name might make people think of it, too, but since it's an actual flower I don't think the name needs to be changed (unless they also changed the name of every columbine item).

If that changes, then the description for should be changed, too, but only because it's referencing the other description so it wouldn't make sense anymore (there's a movie and a book called The Blue Dahlia, but as far as I can tell, they're entirely fictional).

Kamikaze is a practice of violent suicide used additionally as murder. The description is essentially "victory or death" without saying it outright, and the item itself has a headband like a martial arts practitioner? It's low-key racist, it's deeply insensitive about a brutal subject, and it really should be changed.

I mentioned this in the News comments for a Token Shop restock and thought it belonged here too - the use of "psychotic" to mean "evil and deranged" is really not great. Psychotic and psychopathic are very different things.

(Edit: there's also some discussion to be had about whether psychopathy/ASPD should be referred to so casually, that discussion is getting off-topic but it may be better to avoid it entirely and just use "evil" or "cruel".)

Like...the true meaning of Thanksgiving is genocide of the indigenous peoples who wore clothes like this. I'm not opposed to Thanksgiving items obviously but this one is pretty tone deaf.

actually those feather war bonnets were not just clothing to indigenous peoples but were in fact the sacred regalia that were worn only on special occasions by highly honoured members of the group and the item is outright offensive. It should be revamped or retired, because warbonnets are not costumes and wearing costume versions of them is highly offensive in real life. Revamping would be better as this is one of the few occasions where turning all existing copies of an item into another item entirely is justified. It's...that offensive.

Kamikaze (written 神風 in Japanese) means "divine wind" and was once used mainly for extremely strong typhoons. However it was also used to members of the air suicide attack force in WWII. It is not used for unrelated murder/suicides. The headbands are something you may have seen in the movies; they wore normal flight gear. I'd like to know what ethnic Japanese people think about this one as I'm a Heinz-57 American and don't feel either you or I can really comment on whether or not it's offensive.

The Black Dahlia item is a black dahlia flower. I am not sure what else you would call it. It's a famous true crime story. I think the primary concern of this thread is getting rid of items that are racist (I've reported uses of the "g" word for Roma people before) and some of the fat-shaming items that are outright eating disorder triggers. Inspiring someone to look up a true crime story (while warning them that it is kind of gruesome) is not on the level of either of those issues.

I'm not going to debate with you because the op clearly states that's not what this thread is for. But I do want to point out that I already said I don't think the name needs to be changed.

Hello everyone, sorry for the delay! It's been that kind of a year...

I've updated with all of the suggestions except for the cannibalism/zombie ones, because that's a big part of Subeta lore and would really need to be a topic opened up on it's own, with discussions about it from different people's point of views, including with the staff. (By this time, maybe someone has? I haven't been able to be active on the site outside of quick dailies)

The aeanoid seed should REALLY include a warning in the description that it transforms your active pet. My girlfriend (who had only really played the game for a few weeks) just turned her nostalgic feli into an aeanoid because she didn't know what it did. She was under the assumption it would create an entirely new pet since most seeds will give you an item and there's no text in the garden that I know of that indicates it transforming a pet
