Personally, I wish they would put some effort into revamping weapons and older challengers, instead of releasing new content.
Freeze bomb/mecha double-blast 2 constants 2 healers has been the meta on almost every single challenger for 5+ years. (Or Nacho blast against no freeze, or other very slight variations on the theme.)
And freeze bomb double-blast isn't even that powerful, it just happens to be marginally better than every other strategy, which are incredibly weak in comparrison.

I think the whole system could use a revamp. It is very repetitive. I think it would be cool to see team battling or PVP battling in some way

I think you might be surprised at what could be accomplished with just a handful of changes.
There are a few catastrophically bad design choices that were made along ago that if fixed would fix a ton of issues.
Curses being unblockable being the biggest offender, and then the way that blasting/stealing was balanced being the other big one.
If curses were made blockable, Blasting/Stealing worked on a single defined weapon instead of a random weapon, and in general, opponents were limited to 8 weapons like users, it would make a potentially huge difference.
There are other smaller balance changes that could be made too that would have a big impact, but I think those are the limiting steps in that they would take a pretty huge amount of time on the BC admins time to fix blasting/stealing, and it would take programmer time to fix curses.
PVP wasn't that fun when we did have it. Recycle Blaster + Truth Serum were completely busted, and there were other problems if both players made it out of the TS/RB Lotto phase. But ussually, one player would end up with a massive advantage on the first turn and just steamroll

Actually, there are many challengers that could do with having their art revamped, and maybe some of their battle text changed (I've seen some people ask for that on at least one challenger), and I also feel like the old images for NPC challengers before they introduced the Friendly Challengers could easily just be changed to their regular images like the Friendly Challengers use (by that I mean NPCs like Saggitarius, and Major Drills), for consistency, as well as saving on having to draw new battle images for them.
I would absolutely love a way of battling that isn't as repetitive as is currently is. I get so bored that I can't actually do it without listening to podcasts or watching a series - except for opponents that are really still a challenge.
the images for Saggi and Major are not old NPC versions but were drawn specifically for the battle coliseum though (which I think is good because they are not friendly challengers per se). Not saying they shouldn't get a revamp, but there's so much old art around in the BC, I wouldn't know where they should start...
No I think if they did PVP there would have to be a bunch of restrictions to make it a more even playing ground. Some weapons that work for single player would not be suitable for PVP and it would be 0 fun for the people with high tier pets that can't afford high tier weapons. Team battling I think would be fun if you had you and your team going up against a set of challengers, similar to turn based FF type games and you had the ability to choose if you used your healer on yourself or on a teammate. Not that I think that any of this is ever going to happen, but it would be nice to have something a little different.
I don't think that curses being unblockable is a big deal. If you made them blockable, then how would it be different from just doing extra damage like from the other mod crystal attackers? I think it would be interesting if instead there was specific weapons or a specific mod that could be used to block curses, not just blockable by all weapons. I'm not sure if that's what you mean.
It's not that it is actively hurting things the way they currently use curses, it's the design space that it opens. I wrote a big long forum post on it a few months back I think with a couple of different examples, but for example instead of having boss battles end with a random huge attack like they do currently, which is pretty unsatisfying. If Instead it were made to be a giant curse, it would make 100% OPB blockers actually helpful, since curses are telegraphed, and each one that you bring would probably extend a boss battle by 10-20 turns. It wouldn't break boss battles either since you would eventually go down to the mega curse after you exhaust your 100% blockers.
In a non boss fight you could make an opponent that mostly does say Earth, Wind, and Fire icons, leading you to most likely bring 2 of those icon blockers as your main constants, but then mix in a large icon curse that deals 100 Dark Icons, making it worth while to actually bring and use 3 constants in a single battle, and actually need to pay attention instead of mindlessly clicking.
A lot of the generated items in battles like prodigys Quarks, or mama forjs generated items would be much better as blockable telegraphed curses.
A frequent moderately sized curse could also promt people to use a shield instead of an offensive weapon for a turn.
I don't know of any challenger that actively uses curses being unblockable as a mechanic offensively (since it's not like we have any really powerful defensive weapons to begin with). The only way the mechanic is currently really being used is by users against extremely defensive opponents, and if thats a mechanic that people really want to still have access to, there are other ways to fix the curse setting weapons to make that happen.
PVP would pretty much need a 100% revamp, Offense is way too strong, and defence is way too weak, there is very little counterplay between the high end weapons.
