and another great HA today! :D
That sounds like a great day :D I think I'd be melting outside with the temperature we had over the last few days, so I'd be hopeless over there with the weather you get! 😊

You can also get fake candles, that runs on a battery. I dont find those are cozy tho, as real candles. :)
Why not make it as a treat this weekend. :D :nods: Sounds yummy!
Too hot here at the moment to work with yarn I find, but I think I will finally start on the slippers for mum once it gets a bit colder. Suppose to cool down a bit next week for us. You are really tempting me to try a knit crate too. xD Even tho I already have so much yarn. 😆

a friend sent me a little porcelain light for Christmas last year, which has a battery operated 'tea light' candle in it - I couldn't handle the flicker of the regular light (for some reason, they made it look like a proper flickering candle), but the other one that came with the pack was a colour-changing one, and that works really well for making the room feel cosy :D ;)
It's still a bit hot to make it this weekend laughs but I'll definitely be giving it a go once the weather cools down (well, that and once Mum's moved a couple of things out from behind the microwave - she's storing a couple of extra packets of food there "just in case" it gets hard to find them in the shops again laughs)

I have both battery operated tea lights that flicker and some that dont. So you should able to find some that work for you. :D I never seen colourchanging ones tho, sounds really cool! :D
Sounds like you got our weather then. :P Its about 30degrees today. Next week is suppose to be cooler tho, thankfully. :)

THanks, I wanted to play with a few of my new items :D Yours is really creative :D It wasn't too bad for awhile but after two hours it was getting way too hot.
I get that, I find I typically have to make scarves in the summer which is so fun :P I bet you'll be happy with a cooler day or 4 ;) I'm loving my knit box. It's fun having a surprise in the mail and the projects are small enough to finish before the next box. Mine also comes with most everything you need. So I get the needles, stitch markers and plastic sewing needle to finish. Plus a gift or 2 bonus. Last month I got a little badge, door knocker thing that said Do not disturb, knitting. And I got a bag of popcorn. This month my wool came with some tea bags and a postcard to send to local governments to ask how to help in the community during these tough times. Of course also patterns. Last month's was a little basket to fit snacks in or small grocery run--and so on. And of course this was socks this month. My little dpns are so cute lol. I love not having to try to find a project and the needles. plus it gives me ideas for gifts and stuff. I figured if I didn't like one month I'm still getting an activity. :D
If you do check out it is really fun - I do think you'd like it! ^^
I love the flow and mood of your HA! It is so cute!
Your masks are so cute like you had a pattern, did you? I just made mine up and didn't care about if they matched traditional masks! LOL Mine are not tall enough from chin to nose but it's ok, I never go anywhere to need them. :P lol

I really really extremely want:Warm wool and summer dont quite mix. xD Its super sweet of you to knit for people tho. :)
Those boxes sounds really great from what you are telling me! I might have to look into if they ship to my country and the cost. :nods: If you really dont like the pattern included, I guess you can always make something else with the yarn.
Got home now from visiting mum. Was really nice as always. :)

I ought to see if I can find some other battery candles, as Mum's friend uses those and it'd be nice to get her some for Mum to add in to her birthday present in December ;)
It's a lot cooler here today - quite windy and wet too :P Although the little weather station I've got on the back wall says it's 27C at the moment.... I don't think I believe it though! :P I like warm summery weather, but when it's 30C and humid, I'd rather have it cooler!!
It's definitely perfect :D Thanks :d I've been letting Niamh play with a lot of the newly released things laughs I can believe it - Mum said it was too hot outside here a couple of days ago, and you're going to have it even hotter over there! ;)
Thanks :D I've been playing around with a few new things in the wardrobe, trying to figure out what look suits Niamh the best - I really should let RP-Paddy have a turn though :P
I did have a pattern - there's some free ones you can download at The Big Community Sew (link) - I made the shaped one, and the basic pleated one (you can just draw a rectangle of you don't want to faff around with printing that one out :P) I did make one before, for when I was using the pressure washer on the patio in the garden - I wanted something to cover my mouth as the water has a tendency to splash! But I thought these other couple of patterns were a bit easier to sew (they include seam allowances, which the original one I used didn't have added in) ;) [edit] The seam allowance on those patterns is in centimetres, but 1cm is the same as 3/8" so it's not too hard to convert it (my machine has markings for both, but my old machine only had the inch markings so metric patterns were a complete pain in the rear! :P )

they really don't lol but OH well XD
I love it a lot. I know there's several that ship internationally :D Hope you find a good one. There's crochet too.
glad you enjoyed time with your mum :D
hehe gotta play with new things :D
Yeah today's temp was 96 but the feel like temp was 100
How are those socks coming along? For the girl that from I remember doesnt like wearing socks much. lol
What is the place you order from? :) Knitcrate.com? I looked there, and they do international shipping at least. :D
Hopefully you can find some nice ones. :D They are great for people with pets and small children too, as its not a fire hazard. :)
I much prefer spring weather to hot summer days here. :) Today its cold enough that I wore a light jacket when I headed out for a few groceries. :D

yep, that's definitely too hot for me laughs If only I could bottle the cool breeze we had today, and send it over to you ;)
Is your AC working properly now at least?
that's very true - no risk of them getting knocked over and causing a fire! That sounds much like our weather today, as Mum was wearing a jacket when she went to do the supermarket grocery shopping this morning (but then she does tend to wear a jacket most weeks, as they've had to queue for the tills right by the freezers in the store, and that can be quite chilly even on a hot day! :P ) Are you working on any craft projects at the moment, or is it a case of it being too hot to knit? ;)

i finished the first sock though I wrote into my club and told them that there was a misprint in the last steps since there's no way it could work. It looks a little off at the toe but fits well so it's all good. I did consider that one because it looks lovely. THey have both knitting and crochet patterns. but my club is Knitwise however they don't have international shipping sadly. Also no I'm not a fan of socks. But I can gift them xD
its too hot for me too! thanks. Yes except for the craft room which needs a unit added to it.
Or even forgetting about them before leaving the room. :)
I went out to pick up a couple of parcels today.. a bit chilly and rain. lol Love it. :D Which I guess sounds weird.. but its nice to feel cool again. lol
Not at the moment. I did a lil bit of scrapbooking before the weather got too hot. Really should start on those slippers soon tho. : blushes: Are you working on anything? :)
If it fits well, then all is good. :D Of course we are gonna need pictures. xD
Ahhh, was hoping to try the one you liked, since its always good to know someone that has tested it. But alas. Knitcrate does look good tho. :)
Thats true about the socks.. always someone out there that needs a warm pair of socks. :D

OH that is such a clever website! I just cut a rectangle and made it without pleating, I just used elastic on the sides for my first one (I didn't realize there were patterns online!). That is clever to use one when washing the garden and having to worry about spray. :D
Your HA is sooooo cool! O.O

I really really extremely want:if it's too hot for you, it's definitely melting! ;) That's a shame that the craft room doesn't have ac yet - any chance of that happening soon, or are you just going to need to use a different room for crafting on particularly hot days?
I tried working on a 'rub off' pattern today (where you draw around an existing thing and make a sewing pattern from that), so I was trying to make a pair of shorts for a teddy bear :P It was going well, until I started sewing - the fabric got rammed into the needle plate :K So I unscrewed that, cleaned out the fluff from the previous fleece projects (guess I should clean it out more often :P), shelved the shorts as I didn't think that fabric would work, and thought I'd mend a pair of socks that needed a line of stitches on the cuff (they were cheap ones, and the cuff is starting to thread out where it was folded down). 7/8 of the way around the cuff, that also gets rammed into the needle plate. ....I got the idea I really wasn't meant to be sewing anything today, so I've printed off the dragon bag patterns and just got that ready for a day when I feel that I have enough patience to try cutting it out :P
the last time we had a proper candle (it was an advent candle, so the theory was you'd burn it down to the next date each day), I ended up so paranoid that it might fall over, I couldn't enjoy using it 😊 hehe I will admit that today is a little too fresh on the temperature - I don't want to feel I need to wear a jumper indoors!
I've got a couple of UFOs but it doesn't seem to work to do anything with them at the moment. Mum's requested a few bags (something to store Dad's allotment clothes in, and I suggested she had a couple of waterproof washable shopping bags), so I've ordered the fabric for them - that's meant to arrive next Wednesday I think, so that'll hopefully give me a couple of easy projects I can actually finish! I want to get something made successfully before I try working on the dragon bag for K's Christmas present, as that'll be more fiddly to make than a simple bag ;)
you definitely need the pleats, otherwise it'll either be too tall on the sides, or it won't reach over your nose & chin ;) I only found out about it when I saw everyone mentioning that website on twitter laughs I know they won't be waterproof, but it just made me feel a lot more relaxed about where the water was splashing, so I could concentrate on actually getting the patio clean, rather than trying to stand where the water wouldn't splash me :P oooo that's an awesome rifty HA today!! :D

Why thank you :) I love your ha too.
It's always hot to me. I'm not a fan of the heat lol. We've been using the lounge which isn't ideal but there's really nowhere else I can go to sew. Man sounds like your machine's being a pill. Does it need oil?
I'll try to remember to take pictures. Sorry. But knitcrate looks really promising :)
At least there's an alternative room for the time being -I guess the temperature isn't meant to be more bearable until you get to October? ;)
The instructions for my machine say "do not oil" in bold letters laughs I'm guessing it's down to the pressure on the presser foot - I had it lowered (and was using a walking foot), but either it was still too high, or the needle maybe needed replacing.... it worked fine for the bit of stiffer stretchy fabric I was using, but once I got to the drapey bit of fabric (and the socks), it just seemed to want to eat it :P :K
sits and admires your HA :S

It does look pretty nice! :D Spent the day with my mum. we cleared out some clothes from my closet. Stuff that doesnt fit too well anymore, worn out clothes etc. Went for a walk and made dinner. I need a nap now. xD
I think real candles are more cosy, but the battery ones sure has its advatages. :) Its warm enough indoors for me to just wear a tshirt, but I needed a jacket for my walk today. :)
You are gonna be a pro at making bags after all those! :D Sometimes its nice to have easier projects that doesnt take forever tho. :)

the weather doesn't want to make its mind up today - it's cloudy and quite chilly one minute, then the next minute the sun is out and it feels nicely warm :P Are you still enjoying the walks? ;)
hehe the disadvantage of the bag Mum requested, is that I've never made that pattern before - at least with the allotment bag it's just a couple of simple drawstring ones, and the shopping bags (if I can find the pattern I scribbled out last year!) shouldn't be too terrible to make ;) That's definitely true - and something that doesn't involve stretchy fabric, seeing as my machine didn't really want to sew that yesterday!

today was a pretty tough/long day. I first did a couple of boxes in the craft room it's almost done now. Then lunch and then Homedepot for a faucet we bought. Then to my doctors apt. I was 30 mins early. Apt was at 2.30. But at 3.20 I went to ask how long. I had a walmart shop arriving at 4 and I was supposed to pick up my water filter at Target since mine broke on Sunday night. but It wasn't until 4.05 that i even left the doctor's office. I had to have dad go get the Kroger order. Since was there for 2 hours. They forgot me. Asked me if I signed in. But I did and two of them saw me! I saw the doc like for 2 minutes. I got home just as Walmart was driving away, so put that shop away and publix order arrived 2 hours early which makes me mad. Why ask what time you want a delivery if you ignore it? I put that away and of course then Dad arrives with Kroger so put that away as well. An hour later I was finally done! My leg hurts because its in a soft cast and the floor hurts since it's not used to being stood on. To make it worse, I was given bad news (twice.) bad news number one is my leg has the soft cast for 2 weeks! Not one. I'm so devastated about this. I thought I'd be clear next week. Dad cooked dinner but didn't realise he cooked the wrong rice and mum and i couldn't eat it.... then i get a message (another bad news. But not ready to talk more about it.) it's just been a really tough day.
Pinkpanther glad you got to spend time with your mum. I ordered Paper mario last night and Story of seasons.
A good clear out is always tiring lol. sounds productive.
Paddy
probably, or november depending. it can still be hot in December, just not typically as bad as FLorida.
that does sound like the needle or too warm machine?
thank you. I enjoyed making that one. Had to play with some gifts. love your rainbow looky today
abmition [edit] Well I wound up in extreme pain and had to go to the doctor. I'm back in a cast for 2 more weeks. Quite gutted if I'm honest.
