The first baby item I bought would probably be a special first soft toy, or a baby blanket.

i would buy something small and cute for the bub - like an item of clothing (probably a punny onesie knowing me) or a cool stuffed toy. i still have the plush bunny that my grandfather gave me when i was born - so something along that sentimental gift kinda route.

Enjoyed reading all of the wonderful idea for the first item to buy for baby. It's fun to buy the darling tiny clothes but you'll get those for gifts. Love the idea of a comfy rocking chair for you. You will enjoy it while you wait and it's so comforting for you now and baby later. Glad you're feeling a bit better little mommy. (((hugs)))

I would start to buy things for the baby’s room. The first thing would be paint and decals for the walls. I would want to paint the room first so it feels like a baby room. I love yellow so I would look for a warm yellow to make the room feel bright and sunny. Next would be the crib or wall decals, like cute jungle animals or if I painted the room blue, under water animals.

not sure if it counts, since it would be a while before the baby can appreciate it, but books. Some of the books I can remember from MY childhood, some of which are for real little ones and some of which could be read aloud to toddlers. The ones that come to mind are "Outside Over There" which maybe isn't actually the most child appropriate cause its kinda scary, but it sure left an impression, "Jamberry" which was always cute and has good pictures, and if I could find them, the Zoom books which were about a cat who went on adventures and had amazing illustrations. It'd be a long time before the baby could interact with most of these, but they feel the most meaningful.

I'd probably make, not buy, a baby blanket. I knit, so.

Well, it's hard to say since I don't see myself buying baby's stuff and such a things. I mean, I don't see myself being a mom either lol but, as an otaku auntie I'd probably buy something related to anime XD. Without any further, I want to dress my niece with a Pikachu hoodie <3 she's such a cutie.

We bought a crib lol, found it for 300 dollars off on craigslist. Couldn't pass up the deal

Honestly I'd probably look for a baby-friendly stuffed thylacine. Because I would want my kid to love them, too.

I would make the larger purchases first: Crib, changing table, playpen, highchair, and had the great idea of a rocking chair! You can use the rocking chair even while pregnant; it'll be soothing for you as well~ It's easier to get the larger things set up in the house now. It gives you time to get used to wherever they'll be and rearrange them if need be!

I'd definitely hold off on clothes, diapers, and other small things since those are most likely to be gifted to you by friends/relatives.

I think I would buy clothes first not too small so they’ll fit as the baby grows. I hope the appointment to see the baby goes great!

I would buy a crib first! I want my baby to have a nice place to sleep before all else, because sleep will be the thing that is most needed and scarce of everything XD

Yay! Baby is fully alive now! I would probably buy socks. Baby socks are so damn adorable! I hate feet in both children and adults, but babies are so cute! I wish they stayed like that forever. I would buy tons of socks, alongside all the baby needs (decorations for their room, a crib, a play-time area, etc) Just look at this cuteness:

I'm not sure. I don't intend on having children so this question wouldn't occur to me. I was at the store the other day though and saw lots of cute onsies, so maybe that.

Love the idea of the rocking chair and book. One of my favorites for my children was 'Love You Forever. You can read, play music and talk to your little one <3 Next would be a wonderful stroller/car seat duo for the safe trip home.
